  1. Speaking of $20M do you think the Red Sox would have made the trade for Gray in the first place if St. Louis hadn’t of thrown in $20M? I don’t.
  2. If they pick up the option that would make it paying Gray $41M vs $21M if they don’t, which is still a difference of $20M.
  3. Just $20M? I’ve read so much on here of the Red Sox shedding some contracts to lower payroll, and now $20M is just $20M.
  4. No problem, but even if Gray pitches well this year I’d be hard pressed to believe Boston would pay him $30M next year.
  5. My understanding is that the Red Sox are on the hook for a total of $21M of guaranteed money. $11M for this year, and the buyout that went up to $10M, because of the trade.
  6. Isn’t the $30M a mutual option?
  7. I don’t think Story would pout either.
  8. Not if you’re the highest bidder with no strings attached. Bloom didn’t have any trouble landing Masa either. Highest bidder by far with no strings. Most times that’s all it takes.
  9. I think the negotiation tactic by Brez had a hand in how it turned out as well, but either way I wouldn’t have given Bregman 5 years anyway.
  10. Do you think DD would have landed Bregman if Bregman was plan A during the offseason like he was this year?
  11. TW is just someone who they pull out of the shadows every now, and then, and then he goes back in. You looked too much into it from someone who probably doesn’t have any knowledge or let alone say in what the Red Sox do on the field on a daily basis.
  12. I wouldn’t call TW one of his minions, and that’s who said it. I don’t think he meant any more of it than when he led the Let’s Go Red Sox chant. That statement didn’t bother me at all unlike what Sam spews out on a yearly basis when he says it’s the Red Sox goal to play into October every year.
  13. I wouldn’t sign BO for 6+ years either. The two guys that could have filled the power need went early in Flintstone, and Alonso.
  14. I don’t think if other teams want Duran it would be because of his Butterfly Man ability in the OF.
  15. As I said I don’t think Bo is on the Red Sox radar, but I think his bat would play better going forward than Bregman, so when Bo eventually signs with someone that will be bad strategy?
  16. If you listen to the interview of AJ Piersynski talking about the negotiations it doesn’t really sound like it.
  17. BO’s bat May play better than Bregman, but I don’t think BO is really on the Red Sox radar.
  18. I agree 100% especially on the last paragraph. Bregman was plan A all along, and Brez it seems did not handle the negotiations all that well, and hopefully humble pie it was.
  19. Because they couldn’t get their top man in Bregman would be the only answer I could see.
  20. I don’t believe Suarez would have been signed if Bregman would have, and I don’t see anymore big expenditures unless the Red Sox shed some salary in the process.
  21. Brez not communicating well probably did not help the Bregman situation at all according to reports from the very outset.
  22. Shaugnessy just said it’s good to see the Red Sox spend money just 4 days after the BREGMAN DEBACLE, which it was after Bregman had been Plan A all along, so now we’ll see what else Brez has up his sleeve.
  23. Now that Suarez is signed was he the right pitcher to go 5 on?
  24. I’m with you on the years pretty much on all contracts.
  25. Providing Mayer, and Story can stay on the field.
