  1. I’m kind of shocked that they did give any FA pitcher turning 31 a 5 year contract. As you said time will tell.
  2. Yes I would say this most likely was a pivot, and wouldn’t have happened if Bregman would have signed. He turns 31 in Aug so we’ll see how this turns out. Last time there was a pivot Masa got signed after losing Bogey.
  3. Mayer’s glove will work no matter where he plays, but his bat is the biggest question. I think he needs more work down at Woo on that, but that most likely won’t happen.
  4. Chapman was more than a pleasant surprise. When he was signed I don’t think the Red Sox had nothing more than a 7-8 inning guy planned for him with Hendricks as the closer. Chapman said himself that a role wasn’t even discussed with him when he signed.
  5. Max didn’t give Brez a big enough pat on the back for you? Nothing wrong with that at all. I think Max summed things up pretty well, which was better than you, or I did.
  6. Aggressive? Brez May have a different meaning than the other teams, on how much that means.
  7. The run had to do with the good extended starting pitching especially from Cro Man, Gio, and Bello. Some on here like to think the run was because Raffy was traded.
  8. I agree it’s 2019 on that gets talked about the most on here, and what has followed DD, which was Brez, and Bloom. Theo had his share of success too when he, and LL ran the Red Sox.
  9. Yes the Red Sox have been locking up the younger players, and all that payroll adds up, which gives less money to bring in FA, so which was is better? Time will tell, but if most of the young guys don’t turn out as well as some think it will hurt down the road, but if they turn out great.
  10. Arenado is owed $42M, and the Cardinals are paying $31M of that? Wow! Bloom is paying everyone to take his players.
  11. From reports the Red Sox made an offer to Bregman early on that Bregman was a little mad at, but the Red SOX didn’t budge until near the end with their final offer, but as usual too little too late. I don’t know if they were sure they would land Bregman, but I think he was plan A&B.
  12. Not disputing that, but Cora has complained at length about the D now for the last three years frequently on the postgame on NESN. if they can make the D better that’s good, but you still have to have some big bats.
  13. And now they have to go to that all familiar third option in the fork in the road.
  14. Same with Bloom. Theo must have taken different classes at Yale to able to communicate better.
  15. How did the IF defense look last year to start the season? 3B was better, but how about 2B, and 1B? Why would they have a zoom meeting with Alonso, and then a face to face if they wasn’t interested half hearted as the offer was.
  16. I think Alonso’s bat would have looked better in the BO than Bregman, and he would have produced more.
  17. But I think the model on Alonso was with the idea they would get Bregman.
  18. Do you think they would have offered Alonso more if they knew they wouldn’t get Bregman?
  19. HR. Alonso 118. Bregman 69 RBI. Alonso 332. Bregman 235 Just to simplify things, and I’m going for Alonso.
  20. And with the Red Sox they have a set limit. It might have been $165M for Bregman, but from reports it was s t r e c h e d out over a long time. What a player is worth to one team might not be that much to another. Alonso was worth $150M to Baltimore, but only $85M to Boston.
  21. Sounds like Brez not reading the room very well, which is not surprising at all.
  22. He’s moving for the second year in a row of his own choice. It’s not like Houston didn’t make him an offer to stay there, or Detroit last year to go there. I understand he wants to get every penny he can, but I don’t care that he has to move to get it.
  23. I vaguely remember Ted myself, so kind of starting with Yaz with me.
  24. The Bad Boston injury ju Ju as I call it.
