    I’m not so sure the Red Sox consider Mayer the SS of the future. If he gets entrenched at 3B the next two years they may leave him there. Of course that may depend on the health of Story, and Mayer too.

    It was reported the Red Sox like Mayer at 3B better, and I don’t know if they are concerned about platooning him, or not.

    It’s nice you reference ESPN, but like I said it’s nothing new, and was all covered in real time on NESN. Nothing new? If there was a chance that Raffy might be needed later on I don’t think it was a good idea to tell Raffy to put his glove away. Sounds like another bad move by Cora.

    It’s telling to me that he wasn’t even going to be the backup at 3B.

    I do realize Raffy didn’t play 1B for SF for some time. I believed he skipped out on a practice session with Will Clark. No doubt Raffy had a fragile ego, and thought he was a good 3B, which complicated things, and that’s all well known, but Raffy was told to put his glove away, so he wasn’t even going to be the backup at 3B.

    Like I said all of this stuff is nothing new, and was all reported on NESN exclusively during, and after all of this went on. Rehashing all this now isn’t, and hasn’t changed anything. I’ve said all along that if I found out Cora wanted Raffy play 1B I would change my opinion, and I would. Instead of Blaming Brez 99.5% I might lower the blame to 75%.

    Yes the Red Sox did finally gave up on Toro, which was after Cora made his comment. Where, where, where did I say Toro did not need to be replaced? Cora said the Red SOX was fine on NESN, so I guess that’s on Cora. Sure what Brez said meant something he traded Devers, but Cora never put Devers at first base either.

    Yes JH talked to Raffy about playing 1B. That’s nothing new, and was reported at the time. Brez also talked to Raffy about playing first base, which was also reported.

    Oh how the mighty have fallen. It was so many times on here it was Devers Forevers.

    I get what you are saying, but I just don’t agree to that extent. Raffy has spoken up before at the trade deadline saying the team knows what they need to get better. Like I said earlier Raffy had seen what had gone through the 1B position the last few years, because of injuries, and I think that had something to do with telling Brez what he did also.

    Until I hear, and proven differently I’m taking Cora at his word, and his actions. You are trying to change what happened, because you have a different opinion. You can’t. What I see between the leaves is you calling Cora a Liar. Kind of harsh isn’t it?

    Yes, but that relationship was with Brez, and not Cora, and the HOBO doesn’t seem to last to long.

    That Cora said he hadn’t spoken to Raffy, and wasn’t going to is a FACT. Saying Cora was taking the fall for Raffy is your opinion, and obviously nothing more than speculation.

    The Red Sox had a problem at 1B for the past 2-3 years, and that’s why Franchy was put there, so this past year was NO different.

    Well said, and that much weaker lineup could have used Raffy in the past postseason against the Yankees.You won’t get that opportunity, or series back.

    I get what you are saying, but just not to the extent. As I’ve said from the beginning if Cora had told Raffy to go to 1B, and he didn’t I would have a whole different opinion on all of this, but he didn’t, so I’m going by what Cora said, and what he did, or didn’t do.

    Cora said he was fine with the 1B situation, so who you are really arguing with is Cora. You can blame Raffy all you want, and call him all the names you want to, but Cora did not only not put Raffy at 1B, but said he wasn’t even to talk with him about it. What may have seemed like the best lineup to you obviously didn’t seem like the best lineup to Cora. Cora to me is the key in all of this, and not Raffy.

    I can’t speak for others, but for me who was never a Devers Forevers guy, or a big fan of Cora that speaks for itself. I just think what was BEST for the team was Raffy being the best DH he could be, and I won’t go so far as to say obviously.
