  1. Lots of hype, and wishful thinking for someone coming from Japan, and all of the low low price of $100M. Being a upgrade of JBJ’s bat, and Duran is not saying much. More production would have probably come from Renfroe than this guy, and lots cheaper too, which the Red Sox could have spent the money saved on much needed starting pitching.
  2. We all know Henry controls the purse string, but Bloom made that ridiculous offer last offseason, and then provided the lip service on how bad the Red Sox wanted to keep Bogey. They are both guilty as charged.
  3. One report I saw had the Red Sox at 6 yrs/ $27M per as a counter offer.
  4. And I should be with this signing?
  5. I think it’s a bigger gamble than it is a upside, and like I said yesterday Suzuki didn’t set the league on fire last year by any means.
  6. The offer last spring told me all I needed to know about Bloom, and JH, and so did Bogey. The funny part is that some bought into the Kennedy, and Bloom spin, and grin.
  7. The Red Sox are spending more money on this unproven Major League player than the Phillies are on Schwarber a proven Major League power hitter. Who got the better deal DD, or Bloom? Does anyone remember Rudsney?
  8. What Bloom is blamed for is the contract offer he made Bogey last offseason, and letting Bogey get to FA in the first place. San Diego yes is going all out, and way beyond the scope, but they haven’t won anything yet. Let’s not get to exited about Judges contract either, because that may be a bad contract too if not worse. He’s not a better player now, because he hit 60+ last year.
  9. I’m sure the Red Sox wasn’t even close, and shouldn’t have been with where SD ended up paying, but Bogey was lost when the Red Sox made that insulting offer last offseason, and let him get to FA in the first place. With the money (ding thrown around out there Raffy will be gone too. The Yankees ponied up, and JH will not.
  10. It would have been better if this guy was a RF. Dugy can play out there, but not as good as a LF.
  11. Did not match the hype, and had some injuries, so I guess it depends on what good is.
  12. Always iffy when signing someone from the orient. Suzuki had plenty of hype too, and didn’t set the league afire last year.
  13. If you get 1 full year combined from Paxton, and Sale would be a bonus, and that’s a big if, so agree with the need of 2 starters. As they found out last year you can never have enough starters. Add Hill to the other two, and you may get a full year out of the three.
  14. Agree 100%, and signing Bogey, and Raffy long term has to be done even if it cost more now than it would have before. The market has gotten bigger, and more expensive for everyone. The Yankees ponied up for Judge, and now it’s time for JH to do the same for Bogey, and Raffy.
  15. Agree on Paxton, and there is always concern for Sale just being able to get to the mound.
  16. Okay now we got an actual closer, and I’m thrilled with that. A for effort for Bloom. I still would like to see at least 1 more starter added, and put Whitlock back in the pen, which I’ve said it’s where he belongs, and then we still have to get some bats. I’m hoping Jansen still has something left in the tank.
  17. Now you got 3 $300M contracts on the team, and they can all grow old together, which they will do very quickly, and with nothing to show for it.
  18. At least 1 homegrown is staying home.
  19. And I thought Bloom was waiting to the last very second, and run in, and snatch Judge away from everyone. Oh well back to the drawing board.
  20. Judge to the Yankees at 9yr/ $360M.
  21. And they haven’t paid Soto yet providing he wants to stay.
  22. Getting rid of someone who has 96 RBI, and trading for someone who can’t even hit his weight, and paying more to boot is not a winning proposition any time, but Bloom did It anyway, and it worked so well Bloom released him during the season. The Bloom come off the vine on that one.
  23. The Red Sox need someone who can field a winning, competitive team EVERY single year, and ANY year like last year is totally unacceptable. DD accomplished that in his 4 years, which Bloom can’t match in his 4 years. Cashman over Bloom anytime.
  24. If that happens let me know, and I’ll tell you if he is impact, or not. Is Abreu a impact player? The Red Sox were $20M under the Astros.
