  1. Henry’s days of being one of the big spenders has been over since Mookie was traded. Yes Raffy was signed, but he was the last man standing, and a revolt would have happened in RSN if he hadn’t. Big spenders are now into MLB, and JH has been passed by by those willing to not only go to the top like over the top. $280M for Bogey is a good example of that, and i wouldn’t pay that either, or anything close to that. The Red Sox are lucky they got Raffy when they did, because I think that price would have been higher this year if Raffy had tested the FA waters.
  2. Nobody said anything thing about anything collapsing, because some will pay no matter what the price. The problem is how many of the bottom dwellers in payroll could you put together to make up the Dodgers payroll? Most likely the Dodgers aren’t done yet either.
  3. It will if a few teams keeps the price going higher, and higher, which is most likely. It wouldn’t surprise if the $200M-$300M is now $300M-$400M.
  4. It was a dumb plan, because how many of those teams that are serious bidders are the Red Sox going to outbid? Like someone said earlier the only way the Yam Man would end up in Boston is, because he really wanted to play there, but Boston isn’t going to be the highest bidder like they were with Yoshida, which made him pick Boston. Money most always wins out.
  5. Load em up. I hope the Dodgers sign the Yam Man, and might as well get Soto next year too. Get a super team that only money can buy.
  6. Spending money didn’t help the Mets last year, or the Padres for that matter, but unfortunately you have a handful of owners now that are going to outspend everyone else, and JH isn’t one of them anymore. He used to be the the money game has changed big time just in the last 5 years.
  7. JD hit 33 HR, and drove in 103 RBI. Is the Big O going to make the Dodgers that much better? Especially $70M better?
  8. Just a ridiculous bad contract that not only is bad for baseball, but bad for sports as well. Great for the player, but a greedy owner makes future contracts go up for everyone else, and ticket prices as well. Hell the Red Sox fans pay high ticket prices last place, or not.🙈
  9. The Dodgers won 100 games last year without Ohtani, but it didn’t help come PS, and it might not next year either.
  10. The Dodgers already draw fans, and people in LA have already seen him many times over now.
  11. Just a ridiculous contract. I don’t care if he hits, and can still pitch that wouldn’t mean to me that he gets twice the money. Now for the next ridiculous contract wait on how much the Yam Man will get. No thanks!
  12. He has to be posted from his team, but it hasn’t happened as of yet.
  13. Now another pitcher from Japan 22 yr old Sasaki wants to be posted.
  14. I’ve said all along Monty, Snell, and Gray would have helped the Red Sox, but they are not worth the contracts they’ll get. I’ve also said all along make some trades, and get some younger arms than these guys even if it means trading some top prospects.
  15. I was for resigning ERod after the 2021 season, but not now. I’m not saying Gray isn’t a good pitcher, but only at age 34 he s not worth $25M/yr just, because he’s a FA, and there is a big need out there, and he’s never made more than $10M/yr before.
  16. A lot of We’ll see.
  17. I don’t have any pessimism, because I said before the offseason Christmas wish list wasn’t that good to begin with. The Red Sox were not going in for the Big O, and the shiny pitching bauble from Japan have some big spenders willing to spend for his services, and the zRed Sox will not outspend any of them. The rest like Snell, Monty, and Gray are in demand more, or less, because there is a need, and because they are available, and lots of clubs are in need. All would help, but none will probably live up to the hype of the demands, and certainly not worth the money. Gray at age 34 got $25M/yr when he had never gotten over little over $10M before. Is he so much better now? No, but because of need, and availability he got it.
  18. We don’t know what the plan is for O’Neil yet to say if it’s a minor move, or not. Platoon player, or everyday starter?
  19. 🙈🤮🤭.
  20. I don’t care if he came to the Red Sox for free. Is that the best option out there? Was trading Dugy to the Yankees the best option?
  21. Agree, and the Red Sox are not going to outbid the Mets for anyone. So far I’m not impressed at all with Dugy going to the Yankees, or getting TO from the Cardinals.
  22. For Nick Robertson, and Victor Santos.
  23. This will be his last Arb year with an estimated $5.4M. He’s a cheaper option than Duvall.
  24. We’ll have to see who ends up in RF, but I’m with you in that I wasn’t all in in trading Dugy, and especially to the Yankees for what they got. Glayber coming back, which was rumored maybe. Dugy would have been in his contract year, and that might have been a good thing to have a good complete year, but like I said I think Cora had a big say in this.
  25. Suspect, Suspect, Suspect.
