    While there was interest from other teams it was reported that the Red Sox was the only other team to have made a firm offer before SD swooped in and swept him off his feet.

    Murphy on the other hand makes no sense for the Red Sox even if he was making $5M the next two years+ let alone the $15M he’s owed. He’s been rolling down hill the last 3 years.

    Possible, but I don’t know if Con Man was being shopped to everyone. Could have been a Brez/Bloom thing like even with Sonny Gray.

    Most likely the Red Sox would have made a better offer to Alonso if Bregman wasn’t in the picture, and I think he could have been had, but even though they could I doubt Con Man would have still been in the picture. It would have made a good middle of the order though.

    We agree, but that’s why the Red SOX only offered a half ass offer to Alonso, because of Bregman.

    I agree, and that’s why I said Bregman being Plan A was the problem all along, and money was set aside for him that ended up going to Ranger instead of getting the needed another big bat.

    Duran would have had to been traded, and Alonso the DH.

    The problem was that Bregman was plan A all along, and money was set aside for him. I know Schwaber was probably not going to leave Philly, but the Red Sox never made an offer. They still could have made the Con Man deal, and also signed Alonso, and then made the DUBin deal if they couldn’t have worked something out for a 2B/3B with a Duran part of the deal. Alonso, and Con Man would have been a better option than Bregman, and Con Man.

    Con Man was fine, but the original plan was adding him with Bregman. Con Man, and Alonso would have been more than fine.

    Signing Alonso instead of Ranger, which was suggested before the offseason even started.

    I didn’t realize Riley had dropped off so much, so that makes it even more unlikely. Atlanta wouldn’t want Boston’s problems, and Boston wouldn’t want Atlanta’s problems especially those two contracts.

    Breslow failed to get anther big bat. He botched the Bregman negotiations, which I remember a certain poster saying just get the deal done, which at present has turned out for the best. After failing on Plan A he shifted the money to Ranger instead of getting another bat. If this wasn’t a year where the league was so weak the Sox most likely would be 15 under right now.

    Where did i dispute that Cora has a strong reputation for metrics? Where, where, where? I just asked what metrics told him to make all the moves I listed, or keep Raffy at 3B for that matter. Your accusation I disputed Cora, and metrics is baseless, and faceless. 🤭

    Cora is all about metrics.? What metrics told Cora to put Franchy on 1B, or Arroyo in RF, or keep Kike at SS as long as he did, or do a revolving door of 11 at 2B. Which metrics told Cora to do that? Your clearly is just like your so called proof on signing Raffy is doesn’t pass the smell test. If Brez doesn’t butt in last year Raffy would have stayed at 3B, and Cora would still be here, and so would Raffy at 3B IMO. Your clearly, and proof are just imaginary, and nothing else.
