    I said before the offseason began that I would have signed Alonso, and Schwaber. I believe the Red Sox was more than interested in Alonso, but only offered the three years, because they were saving other money for Bregman, and were not going to sign 2 contracts of 5 years. As for what the Ranger contract matters it all depends on why he got more PDV than what they offered Bregman. Maybe it was because they failed on Bregman, and didn’t want to fail again.

    $15M/1 for Eugenio Suarez. Good deal for Cincinnati.

    Bregman is getting $105M out of his $175M the first 5 years with the rest being deferred with the Cubs. The Red Sox wanted to give Bregman less money than that over the five years, which was reported although no figures were given. Ranger on the other hand is getting all $130M over the 5 years so if Brez was under such money constraints on Bregman how could he pay Ranger at the very least $25M more, and that figure was undoubtedly higher?

    You are just pure speculating that JH set a limit, and said not to give a no trade clause. or that Brez was given any orders at all. I haven’t seen ANY reports whatsoever to say he did. I’m also not saying he didn’t.Once again I’m not asking you to jump to any conclusions, or make false claims, or anything else, but it shouldn’t bother you when others do have a opinion on what is known,and you are not going to force them not to. s*** SHOW, F—- up, bungled, botched, failed, messed up, Go Fish will live on. You have your opinions, and others have theirs, and that’s how it works.

    Why do you still miss the point. All it comes down to is the Red Sox didn’t get the player they wanted the most. The main point is not how much money they offered ,but that they didn’t get him. You think Cora didn’t want him back? Why they didn’t get him is a different discussion altogether, but that the fact they didn’t get him isn’t.

    I understand Sand Man, but for a team going nowhere I don’t understand Hicks. Hicks was decent at one time, but like I said Chicago is going nowhere.

    I agreed with you that I did not want Bregman back for those years, and for that price, but that does not take away from the fact good, or bad that Brez could not land the player they wanted most, and who was their PLAN A. Once again in glad the Red SOX did not get him, but I don’t think Cora, and the Red Sox feel the same way, and feel just the opposite.

    I didn’t think the Red Sox could find anyone to take Hicks off their hands, but they did, and it only cost them $8M. Chicago must of wanted the Sand Man real bad to take on Hicks, and his remaining salary.

    It does make me feel better, and why wouldn’t it? It’s not just the majority, but the inside, and more knowledge of those opinions that you, or I don’t have. It’s not a perception at all as I go to many different venues. I hate to think the majority opinion out in the Nation is the majority opinion of just what’s on here, because it is not.

    You don’t care, but you can’t stand some putting most of blame on Brez for this, or not for landing Bregman. It’s like me saying i don’t blame Brez for anything at all.🤭

    You may be right, but Gray was added, because the plan was bringing Bregman back, and if Bregman had come back then the Ranger signing wouldn’t have happened. Gray on gets this $11M this year.

    Didn’t you say the BIGGEST mistake made was waiting until May 2 for wanting Raffy to put a 1B glove on. Who’s mistake was that, and how is that misstated ?

    Did you see Cora say on NESN in a post, or pre-game that he was fine with the play at 1B. so he had already answered that. You keep saying Cora is making all these mistakes, so anything you don’t agree with, or suggest that Cora doesn’t do is a mistake? That’s pretty ABSURD.

    Oh no! Another I don’t agree with Cora, but I don’t think he’s wrong, and always with the theory that Cora didn’t want to upset Devers, so he didn’t make ANY moves that you suggested, which is nothing new anyway. That should tell you something that none of those suggestions happen.

    Yes it’s is telling Cora DIDN’T talk to Devers about playing 1B despite what others say. I will say this that if Cora Actually thought the Red SOX would be a better team with Raffy at 1B, and wouldn’t even talk to Raffy about let alone do it then Cora should have been fired. Also when Raffy spoke up at the trade deadline a couple of years ago saying OPS knew what the team needed to get better wasn’t that calling out his boss? Absurdity? Love it!

    Yes Raffy thought of himself as a good 3B, which he was not, so disagreement there. The fact that Cora did not speak to Raffy about playing 1B speaks volumes to me, as as I’ve said before if he did I’d have a different opinion on this, but he didn’t, and I don’t. Once again Raffy had every right telling Brez to do his job. Didn’t you like everyone else see 11 different players have a tryout at 2B two years ago, and didn’t you like everyone else see the constant parade through 1B, and through SS until last year? Raffy saw it too. Didn’t Raffy also speak up at the trade deadline a few years ago saying that they knew what the team needed to get better? All this has been hashed over, and over, and over again. No one’s opinion is going to change, so yes to me 99.5% is on #12.

    Yes it’s the ole bad team-mate theory, and one even brought up Mookie as some kind of comp, because he can, and is willing to play other positions. A pretty BAD comp it is seeing as Mookie is a far superior athlete than Raffy is, and could play just about anywhere, and may be a better bowler than baseball player.🤭

    We’ve already gone over this 100’s of times already. If Romy is a better fielder at 1B than Raffy, and a lesser hitter would be at DH then NO I don’t even fathom, or see the benefit of Raffy playing 1B, and most importantly I don’t think Cora did either. We’ve also already gone over that SF already have a good 3B, so Raffy would not play there anyway, so it doesn’t mean much, or NOTHING at all. I definitely do not see that Raffy did anything wrong at all in telling Brez to do his job under these circumstances. He saw 11 different 2B parade through there in 2024, and all the tryouts they had gone through at 1B, so to me Raffy was more than justified in telling Brez to do his job, and Cora most likely wanted to do the same thing.

    To this day I still don’t see how moving Devers to 1B would have benefited the Red Sox, and especially under the circumstances that Devers hadn’t even played in the field, which made it even less sensible to try it at that time during the season. Raffy most likely wouldn’t have been as good as Romy at 1B, and then whomever got put at DH WOULDN’T have been as good as Raffy, so I don’t see it at all, and I don’t think Cora did either, so not only 99% on Brez, but a bad idea all the way around, and some call Raffy a bad teammate for that.

    Cora said in an interview shown on NESN that he had not talked to Raffy about playing 1B, and said he wasn’t going to, so that’s not questionable at all, and if he didn’t do it, because he thought it was a bad idea, and wouldn’t help the team then I see nothing wrong with that at all despite what Brez said. Cora knew Raffy better than anyone, and it wouldn’t have surprised me at all that Cora wanted to tell Brez the same thing Raffy did to do his job, and find someone.
