    Still on the Sean Murphy kick. Murphy has ASCIH of coming to Boston. Bad contract, bad player, and bad fit, so to sum it all up just bad all the way around. Come on man!

    Lots of fans still go to Fenway just for the experience, and more, and more visiting teams fans are going to Fenway also.

    I agree mostly. A win is a win, and counts just as much, but yes the Red Sox have been winning against some pretty weak sisters, and yes the Yankees have been a pretty weak sister for quite a few games now. I don’t think it’s been who’s playing the best, but who’s not playing the worst. The Yankees played some bad ball in the field as did the Angles. The Red Sox played bad when they lost those two games in Colorado. I know the White Sox had a winning record, but they are still a bad team. Having said all that I think this is the weakest I’ve seen the league in years, and someone is going to the WS who might not be that good at all, so in that way it’s so different this year, and as KG once said Anything’s possible.

    I agree. 6 games under 500 looks a lot better than 14 games under 500, but it’s still 6 games under 500 in a very weak watered down league. I’ve said all along that 500 is the magic number, and even then is a very low bar, but get to 500, and then see how things look. It’s still illusion/delusion at this point.

    #1 you would have been selling high as I advocated after 2024 instead of selling low now. Alonso is a lot better power bat that the Red Sox need more. Once again it’s not that complicated you’re trying to make it out to be.

    You said it best in a lot fewer words that the average fan doesn’t get into the scrutiny of all the moves, or the cost to do so., and yes it’s the W-L record is what matters most, and if some spent time away from here, and went to other venues they would know that.

    I think Bregman was overrated by some, because of the hot start he got off to last year.

    Huh? It wouldn’t have been that complicated that you’re trying to make it out to be, nor should it be.

    Exactly! Any two of Alonso/Con Man/Schwarber would have been a better combination. Not landing another hitter, and then pivoting to a pitcher was not a good backup plan to me.

    In that scenario they wouldn’t have signed Bregman at all, and would have signed Alonso early on instead. They still could have gotten the Con Man, and then made the DUBin deal, and yes the Red Sox would have had to dealt off Duran.

    I agree, but Alonso was never going to happen, because Brez had the money slotted to Bregman. I don’t know what they could have done to have gotten a big bat after Brez botched the Bregman negotiations, but he switched to Ranger pretty quickly.

    That fork in the road has been a puzzlement to both Bloom, and Brez has it not?

    I’ll take a wild stab to answer that. The W-L record is what matters most, and that is what most look at endlessly since game 1.

    Counting on Story to be healthy, and productive again, and also counting so much on little Anthony, and to some degree Mayer to be productive, and finally not being able to land a BIG bat for the middle of the order. No one saw a career year coming for the Con Man, which made that other BIG bat more needed.

    I agree. The Sox are on a upswing, which could make finding that third option in the fork in the road come TDL time more challenging.

    KC has definitely gone backward, and Mayer is on his way. little Anthony doesn’t seem any closer to playing than he did when he got hurt either. Once again Mayer, and Anthony are losing valuable developmental time, which is most needed.
