It has nothing to do with being a right move in Raffy’s mind. You are so worried moving Raffy down the order as being perceived as a demotion, but you’re not concerned about outside of being benched moving to DH was, and is the biggest demotion of all. and I think Raffy does.

2B has been a Big need for several seasons outside of the year Story played there. Campbell is the 2B now, and he needs all the work he can get there, it surely does him no good as a 2B playing the OF. RAF Man said last year he took him a few games to adjust going back between SS, and CF last year. Just, because guys can play more than 1 position doesn’t mean they have to, or they are better for it, or the team either for that matter outside of injuries happening, and a move is needed because of it.

Yes for me. Keep his ass at 2B if that’s going to be his position. He needs all the work he can get there. RAF Man has at least been getting some hits lately, and needs to play every day IMO. He had two hits in a game a few games back, and Cora took him out the next game.

It sounds like they tried to unload Casas, and Masa to Seattle, but that fell through. I mentioned trading off Duran at his high point at the end of last season, but got a lot of pushback from the big Duran fans on here. Brez has his hands, and plate full on what to do now with Mayer, and Anthony chafing at the bit, and getting itchy down at Woo to come up to Boston.

It’s possible, but I can’t see Cora as being the type that would be the manager under those conditions of not being able to make out his own lineup.

Yes this version of roster construction is not working out to well at the moment. Who knows, but Masa may have better stats as a DH than Raffy if he wasn’t off in exile working on his throwing (wink, wink) to get back into the OF mix.

You may be right, but i wouldn’t necessarily combine the end of last season when we knew he was hurt to the beginning of this season. He’s definitely swinging hard, but I think his ego has taken a big hit in all of this too.

Leading the league will do that for you on one side, and leading the league in K’s helps the other side.

Devers has never been in this situation before being the FT DH either physically, or Mentally. It’s a whole new different situation. Time will tell on how it all works out.

You mean KC in CF today where he almost had a Major run in.

34 AB sample size is all there is. You said he was doing a fine job. The only place I would try Devers right now is the bench, and his stats are all the more reason. I think Raffy is broken right now, and I don’t mean physically.

Abreu is 5-34 batting 4th with a OPS somewhere between 500, and 600, which is closer to 500. That’s doing a fine job? 3 RBI in his last 15 games total, and that was on 1 swing of the bat.

Never? He playing like Never Devers right now, and shouldn’t even be the Bat Boy let alone bat 4th, or 2nd, and yes a demotion at the very least. Speaking of 4th how’s Abreu’s stats holding up batting 4th?

If this would have happened the last two years Mayer would be up to Boston already. Unfortunately, or fortunately Story is healthy, and playing well. Both haven’t proved they can stay healthy the last two years, so only time will tell if either, or both can this year. I don’t see Mayer coming up anytime soon unless an injury, or a trade occurs, and to me it wouldn’t hurt Mayer to stay at Woo most of the year no matter how well he does. -
I think Anthony, and Mayer are going to be harder to extend than Campbell was.

I guess only Brez, and Cora can answer that, and why Brez gave the RAF Man the contract he did.

#1 Duran only played CF, because RAF Man started 70 games at SS. Duran so far hasn’t been the same player either. I get it that you are not a big RAF Man fan, or the contract, and you have to have Anthony up in Boston. I get all that, but RAF Man is not going to make, or break the Red Sox season.

Lack of hitting, and bad D has been the biggest problems. -
What makes it look worse with RAF Man, and the C not hitting much is then getting to the top of the order, and Duran, and Raffy aren’t doing that much either. Throw is Casas who’s pretty much non existent, and that’s a lot to over come. Abreu hasn’t been lighting it up since he moved into the cleanup spot either. If Duran, Raffy, and Casas start hitting the team can survive with the rest.
