  1. You don’t hear as much about Bailey’s effect on the pitching staff this year. On paper this team should be better even with injuries to the rotation, but it’s that situational stuff that gets you every time.
  2. Different day, and a different angle to the story. At least Raffy doesn’t seem bothered by the turmoil, and is pounding the ball around.
  3. Interesting, but there seem to be some front office talk from Cora a couple of years ago when he was telling reporters he was going to safe when Bloom was getting the boot.
  4. Huh? Brez I believe wants Raffy at 1B, and I believe Cora does not, and that’s why Cora said he wasn’t going to talk with Raffy about it. Also IMO JH just didn’t fly to KC to talk with Raffy, but Cora, and Brez as well. At the moment i haven’t heard of any movement of Raffy towards 1B except after he’s hit the ball.
  5. Most likely will outlast Brez too, and may even take Brez’s job, or be his boss.
  6. I mentioned trading him this past offseason when his value was high coming off last season, but it wasn’t received to well on here.
  7. You can look at it anyway you want, but IMO Cora sees things a lot differently than you, and most others do regarding the Raffy situation, and at the moment it looks like his say courtesy of JH.
  8. A year ago at this time the Red Sox were 23-24, and 9 games back of both the Yankees, and O’s. This year not only is the A.L. East the weakest it’s been in years, but the whole American League itself, so where the Red Sox reside in the standings this year with their losing record doesn’t look as bad. Boston hasn’t gotten better, but the division, and league has come back down to them. What a low bar this is that the Red Sox can’t get over.
  9. Good post as always Max, and I agree with you on Raffy. He’s been pretty much chastised on here, and I’ve been one of the few on his side, and I’m not even a Devers Forevers guy.
  10. That’s an easy one. I haven’t sat in on any closed door meetings lately, but I did hear an interview with with Cora when Cora was asked if he had talked with Raffy about moving to 1B, and Cora said NO. Cora was then asked if he intended to talk with Raffy about moving to 1B, and again Cora answered NO. This is pretty well known, and has been talked about more than once on here. In other words it’s not only news, but old news. 🤭
  11. Another bench day for KC who’s been really struggling, and DHam has started to hit a little bit, so good move.
  12. Ok I’ll agree with you on the points you are making, but those things just don’t matter that much to me. Rico was a good enough SS to me as was the Rooster.
  13. Yes we agree that Both Story, and Bregman were coming to new teams who already had established players at the positions they normally play, and the same with ARod.
  14. I don’t know why you are so consumed with Jeter, but to each its own. I could really care less what kind of range Jeter had. So you are agreeing that someone is watching every play of every game somewhere.
  15. I look at box scores everyday even if I watch a game, or not.
  16. Yes, but this is the 4th year in a row the club has played like this.
  17. Beltre was pretty good in his one year here, and Lowell was pretty good too.
  18. That would be kind of hard to define would it not? Everyone sees things differently. and doesn’t even look for the same things in the first place. Just like stats.
  19. Isn’t someone somewhere watching every play of every game? Where would any stats come from if they didn’t?
  20. Wins is not all I judge a GM on, but W-L are what’s most important. Getting into the postseason is what’s most important. Brez was pretty proud of himself at the trade deadline last year on the moves he made last year, but it actually made the team worse. I don’t care what the team looks like beyond this year at the moment just like I didn’t care what the team looked like down the road in 2022, 2023, and 2024 when the Red Sox didn’t make the postseason let alone be a winning ball club. I’m not as big a fan of Cora as a manager as most of on here, and I certainly don’t have any kind of excitement of the thought of Cora moving upstairs.
  21. Bogey was in the same situation KC is now, and was in the same situation Raffy is now when the Red Sox signed Story. Two entirely different situations, and two entirely different outcomes.
  22. I agree, but what do you think is more important to JH the business side of things, or WL?
  23. I agree, but pitchers wins, and losses lead to teams wins, and losses, and every game is different, because the situations are different. I’ve always said that I start with a pitchers wins, and losses, and then it depends on how much digging I want to go into from there. The eye test can be big at determining things like in the last two games you mentioned. Cro Man definitely pitched better than Gio, but got the loss, because it was a different situation.
  24. I didn’t have to watch every game Jeter played, because others did that. Someone is always watching every move by every player in every game.
  25. I think Cora has a direct line to JH anyway.
