  1. If the Red Sox had traded Devers to, let's say, the Angels for Mike Trout, I can get with that. Trout in Fenway would be a monster get. But for ???, umm, nobody? Nah. Bad trade.
  2. Harrison minutes away from starting for the Giants on National TV tonight when he's told he's been traded. And not only has he been traded, the Red Sox optioned him to the minors. What the heck.
  3. That's a crazy trade. We didn't shop him after the Giant inquired?
  4. Wilyer is good. He gets on base and plays D. He needs to remain in Right. If Duran's defense was better center field would be better than Rafaela but he's also go to be a FA after next year.
  5. We need to let the young guys play. When we all saw his lack of hustle on that ground out to 2nd a week ago, and Cora rolling his eyes, you know he had to go. The Giants haven't had a 30 homer season since Barry in 2004.
  6. That's a crazy trade. Can't see the value we are getting back, but getting rid of lack of hustle is okay.
  7. I like Dobbins. Lots of movement on his pitches in an era when many players are looking fastball.
  8. Did you closely watch Cora's eyes and reaction? He was pissed. He rolled his eyes. Devers reminds me of Manny Machado with his consistent lack of hustle and team player.
  9. Please. He's at best a journey man catcher. He shouldn't even be in the lineup if we had capable management. We have a team of bench warmers.
  10. With Narvaez as our cleanup hitter, that's not a good lineup.
  11. We left 11 men on base, the Angels just 8. We struck out 10 times, the Angels just 6. We made 3 errors (Angels radio announcers thought it should be 4), the Angels none. That loss is on Cora.
  12. The problem is we have too many poor offensive players and a number of questionable defensive players. After the slow start Devers seems to have suddenly become a more patient and selective hitter. His OBP is over 0.400. But then look at Story (signed through 2028), Rafaela (how was he signed to 2032?), Casas, Hamilton, Toro, and Wong and they cannot get on base (all with OBP less than 0.300). That's rather pathetic. When we don't get on base we cannot win.. The offensive stats which really stand out in our hitting is Ks, GDP, and LOB. We have the third most strikeouts in the MlB, behind the hapless Rockies and the Angels. Another stat is how few times we've grounded into double plays (only the Royals have grounded into less). And the big one is runners left on base where we lead the league. Those runners need to get home. We need to hit the ball, not strike out.
  13. Go get Nathaniel Lowe from the Nationals. He could play first base for 5 years. We get someone who can hit and get on base. Got to go back to 2018 with Moreland and Pearce at first base or Mike Napoli.
  14. I'd prefer we would trade for a first baseman. We should look at getting someone like Nathaniel Lowe from the Nationals. His career OBP is 0.355. That's what we need, someone to get on base.
  15. The automated ball strike (ABS) challenge system will be in play for about half of the games in spring. 2 challenges per team. I don't like it. What happens if an ump is consistent throughout a game with a strike zone, but maybe shifted 1/2 inch, it seems strange that a challenge late in a game could undo that. To me, the video challenge system is for tech and stat freaks, more than an improvement to the game.
  16. Can't believe he's almost 34.
  17. Devers and Bregman are very similar players on offense. Bregman is the better team player as he gets on base (and his career WAR is almost double Devers). Defensively Bregman is better than Devers as at times Devers seems to have grown roots. Bregman is by far the better defensive player. The only worse contract for a 3rd baseman is Anthony Rendon's (but the Angels only have to eat two more years in that contract, versus 8 more with Rafi's).
  18. I like Bregman. I had named him a get while most of you were twiddling your thumbs. $120 mil for 3 years, though, seems excessive when Pete Alonso, who I also liked, was inked for $54 mil over 2 years. We should have been all over that. How about an outfielder? We have Duran, maybe Abreu and who else. Rafaela can't get on base (maybe he can play short when Story gets hurt again). Yoshida has played OF 88 times in 2 years, so he's a DH.
  19. Is the guy banned from MLB facilities? If not, he should be. With the league and it's media partners relentlessly pushing gambling, you know it's going on at all levels, including ownership.
  20. We need hitters, guys that can get on base. Who do we have nobody. Who do we have? Whose jersey on offense do I want? Nobody. I'm extremely disappointed.
  21. Exactly. Dude sucked before he got hurt and somehow will now get better? Not going to happen.
  22. This is a complete waste of money. 19-45? Sorry but time to find a new GM. Breslow is completely useless.
  23. The loss of O'Neil sort of reminds me of when we didn't pursue Schwarber, dudes with home run power, under valued. We replaced him with nothing.
