  1. We needed a righty or two and we got two bums in Alcala and Hicks. Beyond terrible.
  2. What is the fascination with Alcala and Hicks. They both stink. And the teams they were just on know it too.
  3. All of these trades have been a fat F. We got nothing. The churn adds up to nothing.
  4. Valdez, Alcantara, Houck? Valdez likely to resign with Astros. Alcantra has another year on contract.
  5. Joe Ryan would be a great trade get. Now if only Masa could play 1B.
  6. I certainly hope not. We have some bad contracts. Strengthen the team for the long run. Morton can't get anyone out.
  7. Sell and have what for next year? We sold off Devers and literally got nothing for it.
  8. Devers making his second start at 1B tonight. Apparently he says he likes it. Whatever.
  9. Can the Alcala experiment be done at AAA. The guy has stuff, but something isn't right. Minnesota knew it.
  10. My trade is for Mike Trout. We need another right handed power hitter. Offer Story, Casas, Grissom, Mayor, ..
  11. Narvaez keeps getting these catchers interference calls. And on a ball. I don't like Hicks, and he probably wasn't going to get out of that mess he created, but losing the game like that is ridiculous. .
  12. It felt like we'd get shut out again. Glad to see Abreu and Bregman step up. Anthony getting on base. Another gut it out win for Crochet.
  13. The 3rd base umpire has the best view and clearly had the best view and called it fair. Straight lining it from initial bounce to where it landed on the other side of the chalk line in foul would still put it over the bag.
  14. 7th inning stretch at Wrigley is usually pretty cool. Old video replay of Harry Carey singing it is okay. Fenway's is okay. The absolute best is the Dodgers as they play it twice.
  15. Rafaela got robbed of that double, settles for single. The rather portly ball adult needs to be fired.
  16. Biggest surprises for me in order 1. Crochet 2. Giolito 3. Chapman 4. Navarez 5. Gonzalez (tie) 5. Toro (tie)
  17. I don't think Ryan is going anywhere. The Twins don't have Lopez or Ober at the moment out with injuries. They have no other decent starter. The Dodgers are not going to trade Max Muncy. Since he's fixed his glasses he can see and hit the ball. We need a big right handed bat.
  18. Forget Santana and Naylor. That solves nothing as we have to move on from Casas. Vinnie Pasquantino of KC or Jake Burger of TX would be much better in the long run. And even a better would be to get Nolan Schanuel off the Angels.
  19. Nope. The Red Sox have needs, but getting rid of a good team player like Bregman isn't it. Devers was traded because he wasn't one and too expensive. The team is blessed with many outfield, 2nd base and SS positions. The teams need is first base.
  20. Devers was way over hyped and over paid for what he had accomplished. He's a .277 hitter who had hit 30 homers in a season just twice and we gave him $320 million. He was/is unremarkable. We should have given Judge $500 million (I said that then). Then this year he starts off acting as a baby (hell, he's "earned' $100 million at this point) and doesn't want to play team ball.
  21. Definitely Crochet. Runner up Bregman.
  22. This 2025 Red Sox team (0.249 AVG & 0.737 OPS) is not the Red Sox of 2002 or 2003 when Henry took over or any of the WS Championships. It is far different (we can't hit). It was Devers attitude that made him become expendable (can't allow that to rub off). 2001 - 0.267 & 0.775 2002 - 0.277 & 0.791 - Henry took ownership. 2003 - 0.290 & 0.852 2004 - 0283 & 0.834 2007 - 0.280 & 0.807 2013 - 0.278 & 0.798 2018 - 0.269 & 0.793
  23. I was at the game yesterday. After the first inning the team seemed to just melt away in the sunshine (hell, the school kids on their summer camp field trips to the game had more energy screaming at the top of their lungs), we had none. Fitts wasn't the problem. Cora should have left him out to face the top of the lineup in the 5th. The Angels only one guy hitting above 0.228 in their lineup. Our problem is the constant lineup changes. The coaches think they are being smart about this, but it's more chaos than anything else with these young players. Pick a lineup and stick with it for a month. At this point we are a sub 0.500 team. I cannot see a rebound.
  24. Hamilton is a very good defensive player around the infield, but a poor hitter. Campbell has a much better upside as a hitter, But he hasn't had to struggle until now. So hopefully a short stay at AAA. As for Mayer and Anthony too early to tell.
