  1. Nolan Ryan wasn't oft injured throughout his career and if he was, he'd pitch right through it. Now there is simply too much guaranteed money.. Baseball should be more like football, getting rid of the guarantees.
  2. This guy makes Dustin Pedroia look like a giant (listed at 5'7"). Maybe 2nd base? Hopefully he keeps hitting.
  3. Another meaningless signing by Breslow. IKF is an okay hitter, but lacks power and speed. He may not help us lose games, but he's not going to help us win games. This Red Sox team has no proven power.
  4. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.mlb.com/amp/news/bo-bichette-deal-with-mets.html
  5. Crazy money for Tucker. Another true pull hitter (he'll do well in LA, would have done better in Yankee Stadium with the short perch, not so good in Fenway). I think Bregman's move to Wrigley will limit his power numbers.
  6. Do we even have a plan? It doesn't seem like it. Hoerner plays second and is going nowhere. Shaw is replaceable at 3rd
  7. What's the hope there? Supposedly Houck is out for 2026 (hoping for September). He'll be 30. Hopefully he will return to 2024 form and better. But we are paying him $4.1 million to sit and rehab. As for Casas, he's gonna be 26 In a week, is the signing to make him tradable? Can he return to 2023 form? With Contreras signed, what's his role, because I don't see another position he can play? We rightly signed Romy Gonzalez, as he can play 2nd or back up at 1st. 20 players are under contract. Bregman, Giolito, Wilson, Hendriks and Lowe are still available. Matz, May, Refsnyder, and Winckowski are gone.
  8. Pittsburgh seems have scored big in this trade. Not sure what's up with the Rays thinking. Lowe is a 30 homer 2Ber who is 31. He's a dead pull hitting lefty.
  9. Abreu can hit, get on base and play defense. He's out best proven outfielder. Trading him makes no sense.
  10. He was an adequate backup, better than some of the starters.
  11. Why not bring back Bregman and also sign Bichette? We need players that can hit, not players that may learn how to hit.
  12. This may be the dumbest intentional slight I have read on this message board and there are a lot of dumb ones. Home runs and RBIs don't lie. Contreras is effectively 34 years old. If he was still a catcher, okay maybe an upgrade at that position. Is he an upgrade over Casas at 1st base, yes (why was Casas not traded)? But he's at best, 2/3 of an Alonso. 24 hrs 7 seasons ago is his high.
  13. The problem with most of these lineups is first base. Casa blows. He needs to go.
  14. While Henry is now 76, not in the mid 50's like when he bought the team, what else has changed? The stadium looks great, fans still flock to games, Red Sox Nation is solid. The team isn't the Cowboys or the Angels. It's his money.
  15. We have no 1B, 2B, 3B, no 2nd or 3rd starter.
  16. Sorry, but Marte is not the power hitter or position player we need.
  17. Marte does nothing for me. He's like 2/3 of the Alonso we lost.
  18. Sign both Bregman and Bichette. Not sure what we are waiting for?
  19. We should have signed him after the 2021 season (that may have been one of my first posts over here). Play him at 1st base now that the GM has failed at the Alonso signing.
  20. This is Red Sox front office fubar. That's a gut punch.
  21. With Diaz leaving the Mets, and Schwarber back to the Phillies, Alonso is going to draw a bidding war with the Mets now with a bigger purse. We need to get Alonso. What's the holdup?
  22. Oviedo at this point is a number 12. 3 years ago he pitched (32) almost half of the total number of games he's played in (81) over 6 seasons. I don't see this helping us.
  23. Toronto reportedly just signed Dylan Cease, improving their rotation for the near future.
  24. JT wants to play full time, not be a backup, or a platoon guy (and rightly so). The constant churn of lineups we put out (which are ridiculous change for changes sake) would likely impact him playing daily. Go get Alonso and Bichette first.
  25. I'm not necessarily opposed to the trade, just that Fitts is 10 years younger and far cheaper.
