I look at OBP (as this is a team game, not fantasy). Devers is a good player. He's not a great player. He doesn't walk enough, strikes out too much. Judge's slugging was 0.583. Why didn't we go after him? I didn't hear you bang on that drum. If you look at Soto, his career OBP is 0.424. That's first ballot HOF stuff. -

Why? Bobby has taken a steps backwards the last two years. He's a 0.232 hitter with OBP of 0.298. That's terrible. Unless he can become more patient and can hit the curve, it's not happening. -

Way too much money and way too many years for a 0.283 hitter with an OBP of 0.342. Terrible signing. -
I don't get booing the owner to pay one player. One player isn't going to make this a winning franchise. The team needs multiple players which it currently doesn't have. Andrus isn't a better home run hitter than Bogaerts. He was a solid player at Texas, but he's getting older and injured.

Looks like a minor league lineup with Devers, Turner and Story having to carry the team. We'll be lucky to win 70 games. Kluber is 4 years older than Eovaldi. Another bad decision.

Has Bloom turned the Red Sox into the A's / Pirates? Last year, the signings of Jackie Bradley and Travis Shaw, again, were easily the most obvious clues Bloom was a fraud. We've not signed any premiere player over the last three years (Story was a big $ signing, but was not a top 3 shortstop). I'm surprised Bloom hasn't signed David Price again. We have a large number of FA after this coming season (10).

Unless Yoshida is the missing piece that will ensure we land Shohei Ohtani next year, Mistake is what it is. Judge was steal of free agency.

The O'Malley Family (Peter and nephew) are trying to rekindle the Dodger magic by overspending with the Padres. PED user Fernando Tatis has is guaranteed $340 million. O'Malley must be going senile. Bogaerts had to go for the money. Move KiKi to 2nd base. These contracts are out of control. -
This is a disaster of a signing. As a Red Sox fan in LA (and who likes the Dodger), Jansen is choking machine. Bloom did not do his homework. People are laughing.

Devers strikes out too much for not enough pop. As a lefty he pulls the ball too much and does not go the opposite way to the Monster. Judge on the other hand is more of pull machine and doesn't go so much to the right. Plus the exit velocity off of Judge's bat is 95 vs 92. Go for Judge. Last year Bloom sat on his hands and let Seager go to Texas and then had to settle. Go get Judge.

He's a good player, not great. He's sort of like Jose Ramirez at Cleveland. He's not Nolan Arenado. I think Austin Riley may have a higher ceiling. I'd prefer Judge than Raffi, Xander to Raffi.

Kiki is okay on 2nd base, but at this point in his career he's not going to turn into an every day player. And the talk about Gallo is a joke. The guy strikes out so much the climate activists are looking to him to cool the earth, not play baseball.

That would be a terrible outfield. I guess Henry is going to make that run after the Redskins, err, Commanders.

Good players at the minor league level don't necessarily translate to good players at the major league level.

I've come to the conclusion we need to fire both Bloom and Cora. The minors are crap. The team is disjointed.

With 2022 in the books, the Red Sox are now 9796-9098, and will need to average 102 wins each of the next two seasons to reach 10,000 by the end of 2024, which is something they have never accomplished in the 122 years of the franchise (the best was averaging 100.5 recently in 2017 and 2018, the only time the Red Sox averaged more than 100 wins in two consecutive seasons). So it's not going to happen. 9 teams have more wins than the Red Sox (all over 10,000).

We dropped the ball this year. The top free agents are: Looking at guys under 35: Offense 1). Aaron Judge (by far the top player in free agency and we lack power) 2). Tre Turner (the best player in free agency and we have two shortstops) 3). Nolan Arenado (the best 3rd baseman in the league, and we have a good one) 4). Anthony Rizzo (we need a first baseman) 5). Josh Bell (about the same as Hosmer) Pitching 1). Carlos Rodon 1). Aaron Nola 3). Jacob deGrom (injury prone) 4). Clayton Kershaw (not sure why we didn't show interest last year, he's still solid) 5). Luis Severino Our FA effective guys: Nathan Eovaldi (need to sign him) Michael Wacha (he was a surprise) JD Martinez (we need a DH, his power stats may be down, but he can still hit) Chris Sale (injured) Eric Hosmer (injured)

With 41 games remaining in 2022 (60-61 right now), the Red Sox have amassed 9,778 wins as a club (including as the Americans). To reach the 10,000 wins mark by the end of 2024 we will have to average 100 wins a year in 2023 and 2024. I don't see it happening, but I will root for it to happen.

I really enjoyed hearing Jerry's Boston accent juxtaposed with Eck's California accent and the authority the two had sharing their experience talking about being on the team and the struggles they had. Eck as a Hall of Famer commands respect with his knowledge of the game. The players in the 70's had it tougher than the players of today. I like listening to the older players. The accents also makes the games more interesting to listen to, making it more compelling. Have fun at home, Eck.
