Excellent article by Yirsandy Rodriguez here on TalkSox, see right hand column for access ........ It addresses why the Sox batters, as a whole, are in a true power slump and not just in a group of individual slumps. This smacks of organizational direction or influence to emphasize contact, but not hard contact. You have to do two things as a hitter, hit the ball and hit it with high exit velocity. Of course, to hit it you have to see it and judge the pitches trajectory , so there's that too. -
And if the overall lineup were hitting to their career OPS numbers the team would have many more wins

When will the analysts finally recognize that ultimate statistic, the only one that actually matters if a team is playing for a championship. -
For all the reasons above Wong had to be sent. He may have hesitated near 2B because the wind was blowing in and it was mire of a flyball than rocket shot. Plus if the throw came home as it did, IKF was going to be on second where a single should have scored him. Cedane almost singled but as SS says, tjus team is neither good nor lucky
