  1. I think you are on to Cora. He is not trying to get fired as much as he is playing the guys Breslow delivers and showing them up in a subtle way. Perhaps AC wants CB's seat in the front office . A losing season could be the key . In any event, the organization is screwing the fan base through their internal issues, whatever they may be .
  2. 6 Sox players with OPS below .600 , including Duran and Contreras, plus the left side of the infield Durbin and Story. And where is the 46 million sub, IKF . Should be IDK, 4 ABs total in 9 games.
  3. I doubt he gets fired during the season , but I do think this will be his last year. They will paper it over with a kick upstairs, like head scout eastern Puerto Rico and good friend of JH. This team doers not appear ready for the season vs good competition , and the roster is not strong . Shoul;d Cora have expected 3 full innings out of Uber ? Ranger Suarez will prove to be a major mistake, Weissert has been long balled in 3 of 5 appearances , Breslow will next on the hot seat and dropped as a cost reduction measure next off season.
  4. In that case, they will only need to gain 1 game per month, much more doable.
  5. I am thinking about a common theme from the past couple years. This team just isn't interesting to watch. Star Power ? Ok, people will look at Roman expecting exceptional hitting, Crochet looking for a no hit gem. Some here think Cedanne Rafaela is prime time . Not so much. Chapman, an all-timer but a mercenary and today's LP after 2 out, 2 strike consecutive hits . Right now they are dull as a butter knife .
  6. If the Sox gained 1 game per week on the Yankees, it will be in May before they would catch them. Already playing for a WC slot, if they start hitting.
  7. That was very noticeable . I guess Aroldis was shocked that anyone could hit him. Look back at Rafaela's positioning on Tatis's ball over his head. He was relatively shallow at a point of the game where OF'er's let balls fall in front of them for singles, not doubles over their head
  8. Yoshida offers no challenge , as Abreu showed him the way. Come on, Marcello
  9. Chapman in total command ....until he wasn't. Laureano has been a pain since his A's days
  10. A chance to win thanks to Monasterio bouncing a DP ball to the pitcher. The offense overall remains the concern it was all winter and ST
  11. Really hard to watch Story who is essentially incapable of anything useful right now
  12. Nothing more useless than a two out triple in front of Story, who at least did not try to pull the ball, so at least his hearing is good
  13. Note to Marcello: getting rung up on a failed check swing vs a pitch well out of the zone, leaving two on base isn't a great idea
  14. Suddenly Early saves his arm and has an easy inning getting Tatis for the 3rd time. Breslow is already talking trade with SD.
  15. Story paying no attention to advice continues to overpull every swing and can't buy a hit. Very basic change , Trevor, is needed. Try going up the middle because you have not got a wall ball in you right now
  16. Machado made a nice play on Durbins hard hit grounder to limit a rally opportunity, but Durbin playing well off the line with 2 on could come close to Fermin's ground ball double, allowing the lead run. Beginning to wonder, Bres
  17. Early dodging bullets, may be done after 3 with 80 pitches . Showing nothing special and may be holding back on a cold day in Fenway
  18. Interesting AB by Mayer to get the sac fly and tying run. Tales 2 strikes, one of which was a middle-middle, then hits a 390' flyball when Vazquez fails to exploit the near rookie by giving him another cookie FB. Marcello gets the job done.
  19. Getting late for Early with 47 pitches through 2 innings. Making it a bullpen game if he doesn't get a quick 3rd/4th. However, he escapes a big inning only giving up 1 run and K'ing Tatis.
  20. May as well pile on Cora's misaligned lineup. Top 3 batters, no hitters yet, take only 9 pitches to give up 3 outs. Anthony may not be the best choice at leadoff as he tries, often, to hit the first pitch which by itself is not a bad idea for the batter, but not productive to see an unfamiliar pitcher like Vazquez. Story is still lost at #2, and may be in that role just to break up the left handed string of Anthony/Duran. Abreu should be there now but that would be 3 consecutive LH batters. Duran batting 3rd, probably should go back to leadoff, switching with Anthony, who can then continue his pursuit of Ted William's record from the sacred LF/#3 hitter position
  21. An essential win well done ! Almost predictable but reinforces my thought that the 6 game road trips to open the season are a negative for ST weary Sox players. Got away with missing Whitlock
  22. Now that Durbin finally got his 1 hit, and an RBI, maybe now he could focus on the strike zone and swing at pitches located therein. A general comment about hitting is that the Sox are not showing much plate discipline and are free swinging, leading to mucho K's.
  23. Bogaert's contract , even worse than Yoshi's , made no sense whatsoever . SD will be paying that bill for a long time with no meaningful return.
  24. Simple solution to Story's current negative run at the plate, he is reaching for pitches well across the outer half and trying to pull them. If he simply tried contact where the ball is travelling he would improve immensely. He should be batting #2 in no known universe, That is on Cora, the player's manager
