  1. Altuve must be Oviedo's daddy . If Jose can clear the fences tonight twice then maybe 1 hiter on the Sox can do so, just fo rthe fun of it.
  2. OK, hard to resist but IKF, Yoshida, Contreras and Durbin are hitting a combined .083 , but it is early to be fair
  3. If anyone could not see Suarez's shortcomings in ST and WBC followed by the trash pitching tonight, I'm sorry you are so uninformed. This will be a Yoshida like 5 years of nothingness. I'll give the batters (not really hitters yet) through the Astros series before offering any SSS opinions but it does not look good either. Watching Altuve launch off clown Oviedo was another shot , not unlike Weissert who is in a league of his own.
  4. I'd gladly send him to SF in return for Devers and payoff Roman's contract as well. Just want to see who bites
  5. Wow, big time win by the Sox today. To think the 9th inning was over on the umpires strike call but Anthony picked the perfect place/time to challenge a call well below the line. This guy is , in fact, a winner
  6. Duran and Anthony come through in the 9th to give Chapman a little less stress. It will be a great year if that dynamic duo play up to their full potential. Mayer contributed too, off the bench which is a plus
  7. Slaten and Whitlock keep the shutout alive . The real test in a 1 runner will be if Chapman can extend his 2025 heroics and close it out. One thing about the first game is that if you win it, you might win them all. If you lose the opener there is a small chance you will go 0-162, just a possibility
  8. Crochet spinning up a 2 hit shutout through 6 but with some base traffic. He is earning his pay today. Somebody in the lineup needs to launch one to help him.
  9. Welcome to the infield Mr. Durbin, oooops. Failing to support Crochet's shutout with a bat or glove gets you a stare.
  10. Nobody hitting at the right time. Story should not be a #2 hitter as was said here.
  11. Interesting first inning of the season for the Red Sox: 2 hits, a walk, a Stolen base and no one advanced beyond 2B . Key guy in li9neup DPs 2nd inning , looking strong until Rafaela swings at pitches out of zone then DPs with 2 on. At least we turned the lineup over.
  12. Yankees already lead MLB and more importantly the AL East . They pounded Devers' Giants and have not allowed a run so far this year. Sox need to get out of the gate hitting to keep pace, but only a 1/2 game down .
  13. Feeling much better now that the Stranger says he feels great. And I thought I had uncovered a bad contract before the guy even pitches once when it counts. Sorry for the doubt, Ranger, my eyes deceive me.
  14. Only posting here because some may not know, and it doesn't fit another active Forum. The ABS strike zone is subject to the any part of the ball nicking home plate surface place elevated to the individual batter's biometrics. So in its simplest form, Home plate is theoretically 22.8" wide, assuming a 2.9" diameter standard baseball. I think this is a good innovation because it potentially takes the hack umpires (Bucknor ) out of determining the outcome of a game. Players ( Batter, catcher, pitcher) will need to be judicious in using it because 2 mistaken challenges ends the option to challenge further.
  15. 86-90, depends a lot on Crochet going the full season, and Bello continuing to mature as a pitcher. Suarez will be the disappointment we need to kick Bres's ass.
  16. Nice warm up for Ranger "Stranger" Suarez . He looked weak today and looked weak in the WBC for some foreign country.. Glad we have depth because that is more than Ranger has right now.
  17. One of the more enlightened commentaries to be found on TalkSox
  18. The Beatles are missing 2 of their starters .
  19. Spring training, with the WBC insert seems unproductive but it is not as irrelevant as some would like to think. I agree, let the games begin and the stats be counted. Didn't some half baked coach say, you play like you practice. The hitting weakness in the last 3 games overshadows Crochet's awful game today . Garrett will only pitch every 5 days and the guys will need to hit on the other 4 as well. The Sox road game starts the last few seasons are not welcome as they keep the players away from "home" for another week. Good Luck, Sox. You need about 90 wins to stay relevant. Go get 4 on the road.
  20. In almost all respects the WBC has given some encouragement that the Red Sox p are fully ready for the season. To me, one of the most encouraging is Whitlock. If the team has an 8th inning lead, i hope Garrett is out there slinging.
  21. Regrettably, i saw Ranger Suarez in his 3rd inning vs the Japanese team and he looked awful. He had no command, and surrendered a double and 3 run HR , could not locate his change pitch. Hopefully just a poor outing since he was pitching for Venezuela, but he looked like a pitcher with a broken arm on his throwing side. Not encouraging.
  22. If only Campbell delivered as much benefit to the win total, which is still the only stat that really counts, as his contract does to the AAV in 2028, he would be my hero.
  23. Connor Wong continues to create doubt about being able to be carried as the backup catcher to Narvaez. His inability to hit anything is getting serious. (.087/.247) for ST is not going to cut it. KCampbell on the other hand continues to make the decision to send him to Woo predictable Trevor Story looking like he is more than ready for a good year.
