  1. Campbell only gets third on Duran's double. I can picture why , it may have been caught , why get thrown out at home with Devers coming up ?
  2. Missed actually seeing the game until Rafaela airmailed one but, I'm guessing: 1. Bello's lack of control led to a couple baserunners, followed by a hit to Rafaela who threw it up to the HP net. 2. Angel outfileders and relays throw better than our guys. 3. Angel runners are faster than Toro 4. Angel bleeder hits score two. The home team is more like homeless
  3. Agreed, a good 45-50 game stretch in August/September will be the entry to a possible new deal.
  4. I would seriously hope so. The odds are stacked against them for a WC right now .despite a relatively weak AL. Exactly 100 games at the start tonight. To get to 89 wins The Sox need to go 60-40, not 50-50. Only Yankees & Tigers in Al have exceeded that .600 pace. 4 teams in the NL . Maybe the #3 WC goes to a 85-86 win team , like Royals and Tigers in '24 So it might be in reach still but where will the spark to win more than 2 games in a row come from? Bregman will be late to the party . Mid season trades ?? Takes some talent going to get some coming back. The starting pitching is still very weak beyond Crochet and he will be at record IP levels by late August, if not injured along the way.
  5. Sox need to back Bello, they usually do with some runs. But if we had seen that group back on March 31, as a lineup in early June , we would have been wondering who died ?
  6. 45 days max on the active roster to pursue an ephemeral ROY award and a draft choice. Whoopee ! That would mean no call up for Anthony until second half of August at which time they will be buried in the WC race. Or about the time Bregman will return and play out the year before leaving the Sox hanging on Boras' every word to see if he comes back or plays the field
  7. Another 1 runner at Fenway ? What's new, buried in the first. Is this # 16 , hard to keep up with the 1 runners. But focus on the run differential, it'll make you feel better. Interesting to see the phat phuque Jansen close out the boys.
  8. Angels living up to their lack of potential by squandering most of 6-0 lead . Sox need a couple more key hits to wrest control of this game away from the Anaheim crew.
  9. As much as I really like Jarren Duran, his effort and speed, I think he will be available at the deadline and could be attractive to a team competing for a playoff spot. It would be possible to pry 1 or 2 decent AA/AAA pitching prospects from such a team. Again, not in favor of trading Jarren in July or even in the winter, but I think he can be used to address the needs. He will not be getting rich off the Red Sox in the form of a big extension at a premium. He is, however, a premium player in my mind.
  10. Campbell remains one of the 0-2 still in the on deck circle pretend hitters. Looks clueless and basically is.
  11. Cedanne Rafaela has determined that with a life changing contract in hand, an admittedly great glove in hand, and an "I like to swing" attitude that there is absolutely no reason for him to learn how to hit intelligently at the MLB level. He has hit better recently, but will always fail when facing a pitcher who has command, control and can change speed/location during his 14 3 pitch K's this season.
  12. Keep in mind, there is no guarantee that Bregman will be back next year. The injury certainly slows his prospects for a new deal elsewhere and his age is also becoming a factor for any team offering a 3 year deal. At $40MM , Alex may well stay with Boston for 2026 and hope to rebuild his chances at one last big deal for his 33/34-36/37 years.
  13. I thought Refsnyder could hit LH'ers. Looking like Raf out there, not Ref.
  14. The ever fluctuating lineup placed Toro at 3rd tonight, where he immediately blows a chance to shut down that 1st inning. The ball will find you, Abe
  15. And a start like the 6-0 demolition derby with 3 HRs in the 1st against a relatively weak team with a worse record. But you can say that we just haven't had a chance to bat yet
  16. Maybe Fitts isn't quite fit to pitch, maybe he wasn't warmed up. maybe he just does not have any ability ? Who knows and at this point who cares ?
  17. Red Sox going up against my nearest MLB neighbors masquerading as Angels. Probably one of the worst owners ( Arte Moreno) and unlucky GM's ( Perry Minasian) in the business. Reminds me in some ways of their East Coast counterparts. Ron Washington ,the current manager, is the one who told Billy Beane that playing 1B was very difficult to unsuccessfully discourage Scott Hatteberg . Boston better win this series .
  18. I hope Nate got the $4,567 day's pay for being on the 26 man roster
  19. Just an idea, but offer Story to Atlanta right now for Bummer
  20. Well, that's good, got the first of a 10 game win streak in the books. Really good pitching, one swing of the bat by Story that mattered. 12 more K's by the usual suspects .
  21. I don't know , SS, we keep the turnpike full bringing AAA guys up all season long.. Maybe other teams don't ?
  22. It was an unfunny joke over the past few years but i swear Sox batters come out of the dugout down 0-2 and before long walk back down 0-3 K .
  23. Mayer and Wong have a $100 bet on who gets an RBI first. Marcelo, like Campbell, getting an education in the cities of the nation regarding the exact difference between AAA and MLB.
