  1. Buehler has no ability to get himself out of this mess. he is tired and beaten . I don't mind that Cora leaves him hanging out there. If you do not have the stuff to compete at this level, then retire.
  2. But keep in mind that the 6th run and any following are unearned so won't really warp the analytics .
  3. Another damn error on a throw failing to close out an inning. Now watch the fireworks. Mayer had plenty of time to throw it well after a very good pick. But that is the Red Sox
  4. What is amazing and unbelievable is that the situation has become so predictable
  5. So happy that the day off and a short trip got them in a mindset to win.
  6. Glad to see nothing new in Red Sox land. 2 out, 0-2 pitch golfed for a 3 run HR in the first. Geez, they are bad. And the top 3 hitters going down like grass in front of a mower doesn't help.. Now Buehler at 25 pitches , still trying to get guys out, BUT gives up a 2 run HR. What a poor effort
  7. It looks like Red Sox rank best in many of the categories shown, so that must mean 30 is the best in MLB. On a serious note, this really confirms the oft commented note that Boston pitchers, despite elaborate pregame sessions are just not ready to go in the first. Or their mentality doesn't kick in until they see balls flying off or over the walls
  8. If the Sox played in the Greek League, they would be at WC #2 and cruising
  9. Rafael hits a 308', oppo fly, 4' off the ground , and ends this joke of a game with an essential W. Look what happens when the ball gets put in PLAY !
  10. If the low end of this lineup wins this game in the bottom 9 , improving our 1 run defeat ratio, then more power to them . 3K's, and they will get blasted
  11. Refsnyder capturing a difficult but important out. Angels only 2 more left in regulation
  12. With Duran on 3rd and Devers on 1st, surprised AC didn't call for the delayed -run down double steal sending Duran home with the lead run. What ? You say they did that once before and it didn't work ?? Oh well , neither did Narvaez's K on a cookie pitch
  13. Raffy with a bullet, no a rocket , no an effective bouncer up the middle, magically eluding all gloves and ties the game. But more proof that putting the ball in play can be the difference.
  14. It's time for Devers to announce his presence . Pick up these runs, Raffy
  15. Execution under pressure in your challenging , but highly paid profession. It does have a short shelf life , however.
  16. Weissert gives up a double to a guy with a .360 OPS , and with 2 strikes. Fascinating how the Red Sox set up these 1 run or extra inning games just to keep the fans engaged .
  17. May as well argue. Romy did get credited for a double on a popfly jam job just out of 3 defenders reach . Good for Romy because he actually hit the ball and something happened. Now if the throw to 3rd had been more accurate, Narvaez chose not to slide and overran the bag. i trust he was getting the stand up sign as the throw was off line. Would not have been pretty otherwise.
  18. You could see that Toro was determined to hit a flyball to score Narvaez , getting the score tied. A professional AB with a purpose. You can only wish some were watching and learning.
  19. Guerrero , like many relievers, is at his pitch limit of 34. Time to sit down after B to B walks. Sack Kelly ready to save the day.
