  1. Going to be exciting to see what Rick does with the huge lead early in the game.Better not cough it up
  2. two on, no outs . The kid pops up. JBJr draws a rare walk to load them up. A guy from Taiwan impersonates a hitter and watches 3 called strikes. Leon who can't hit, gets hit to drive in a run and reload the bases. Beni makes them all pay with the slam. red Sox rolling when the 7-8-9 hitters participate.
  3. JDM, unlike some others, hits'em where they ain't.
  4. Going to be missing Eovaldi for about 3-4 weeks, and possibly he will come back via the BP to rebuild his pitching arm condition. Poyner came up but he isn't a stater . Who gets the ball? or does the Opener concept reach Boston ? i think of Velasquez as an opener good for about 3 innings.
  5. Well, it is a night game after a night game. Maybe Vaz didn't sleep well. Or more likely, Cora is hoping Leon can "assist" Porcello in reducing the # of Porcellos allowed.
  6. Not totally fair since Lin just re-arrived but the combined BA's of these 3 guys is .338, with a combined OPS of .750. The Red Sox are a much better team when the bottom 3 hitters account for any combination of 3 hits or walks in a game. Get some OBP in front of Beni-Betts etc.
  7. Cora has already said that next year , pitchers and catchers will report on January 2nd with position players due in late Jan 3rd. There will be 4 days of nothing but jumping jacks, squats and bunting exercises to get started.
  8. Interesting that the pickup of Swihart was with Lovullo as manager and Hazen in the FO. At least they will recognize Blake.
  9. The reason most often given for keeping JBJr is the exceptional defensive play in the large yard known as CF, Fenway Park. There is also the expectation that later or later (sic) he will magically find his stroke and start a 2 month run of hitting like many other MLB OF'ers. The Sox should hold JBJr until it becomes obvious that they are either in or out of the pennant chase around trade deadline. He may be in a hot streak mode by then , either helping the team or of some value to another. My argument has been that if the other 7 guys in the lineup are hitting near their career averages or better, then the Sox can carry two lightweight bats (catcher & JBJr) The problem to start this season is that with the exceptions of JDM, Bogey, Beni to a degree , MM to a degree nobody else was hitting .200 . Last night's game with the Rays reminded me of one of the 2018 story lines: When Betts is hitting and on base, JDM gets rbi's. When the lower third of the lineup participates (Vazquez last night) good things happen. When you get HR's just over the fence instead of 2 ' short, they win. All that came together vs the Rays, and that team looked much different than the prior 4 games.
  10. A certainly necessary and welcome win. Notice what happens when Betts hits. JDM always hits, and Mitch Moreland can get you home from time to time. Also Vaz in the lower part of the lineup makes a huge difference when he hits.
  11. Mookie has a 2 hit game including this HR. Way to wake up
  12. Pull Workman NOW. A walk, then the DP on a 3-2 pitch, then another walk. Workman is a piece of work.
  13. They got screwed by replay on the first goal, but then folded like a cheap tent on the second.
  14. Might be seeing tzu Wei Lin at 2b for a lot of this season. At least you get some defense.
  15. Should have come out after the error. That stuff affects him a lot. Notice how Bogaerts came over to him and said , hang on. He didn't
  16. Phuque me. Erod out of gas , tied up game. still no outs
  17. Devers gives and takes away. With Workman loosening, there are storm clouds in the Trop
  18. I'll take JDM's rbi but with 2 on and no outs, we get to watch 3 straight K's to Wilmer Fonts. Not quite the Red Sox yet but hold the lead and win
  19. Haven't seen too much of him this week.
  20. JDM is murder on slop pitching. What a key AB to get the run home and keep the line moving
  21. When Mookie hits , as he just did, it makes JDM (batting 4th) all the more dangerous.
  22. Devers, like Erod , can play when he has his head in the game. Great DP turned, shutdown inning for Erod.
  23. Amazing turnaround and glad to see some back to back hitting. Now, Cora needs to manage this game like it matters, use all pitching available and not let anyone dig themselves a hole.
  24. Think I will watch the Bruins now, so I can see a team from Boston actually get a few hits
  25. Devers tries to pull outside pitches and rolls over to the 2Bman. Mookie tries to pull outside pitches and rolls over to SS. Anyone see a trend here. really poor hitting efforts.
