  1. One did. But what is JDM doing ? Had the Hr last night to make me think he had found his stroke, but missed an RBI in the first and that half swing K on a bad pitch didn't much look like Julio David
  2. If Sale K's all 27 on 4 pitches each , he will use 108 pitches to put the O's away. Sounds doable
  3. As previously noted, the Sox 25 man roster has featured 37 players to date, with everyone coming from the existing organization . The 13 man pitching staff ( now with significant injuries among starters) means that the bench consists of Steve Pearce, Eduardo Nunez and sandy Leon. Not one of them is hitting .200 in a part time role. The trade deadline ( not that these guys have value_) is almost 3 months away. How does Dave Dombroski upgrade this team between now and end of July to keep it in contention ?? Or do you wait for reversion to the mean to save the season??
  4. if nothing else, Chavis was a spark and breath of fresh air on a team that seemed lost between Ft. Myers and Naples, without a clue that the season had started. Chavis will struggle as they all have , and like Devers may well have needed more experience. In any event, they have won more with him than without him to date, so keep it up Michael. if and when he goes in the ditch, then the team has options to work with him. His flexibility between playing first and second is already a plus over the "over the hill gang" of Pearce and Pedey, who cannot get on the field despite all our good wishes.
  5. Ok, that was really good, Illinois, you win.
  6. Don Zimmer had a metal plate in his head which Pedro was determined to find. Zim represents all that was wrong with the "old school" of a good baseball man. That basically meant be quiet, pay your dues, stay stupid and lose regularly. Hated that Ex Dodger idiot.
  7. You were funny up to a point but i don't get this shot at the place someone lives. Texas may not be popular with some individuals but it is still the best place I have previously lived.
  8. How incredibly (unbelievably ) bad could a front office be to accomplish what happened with Fisk, Lee, etc in the 70's ?
  9. Hey man, you are good for interesting comments and keeping the game thread moving along. neither of us need the stats to voice our opinions but I do respect the numbers scholars on this website for all i have learned.
  10. Nice comment towards Vaz who has elevated his game, maybe for good or just for awhile. I like his approach and contact rate. Leon will get the "day off" assignments. maybe for Sale, but if Vaz hit .250 for the season that would be great.
  11. Correct Observation. If Davis had caught that ball, it would have changed the innings outcome.
  12. Yes, his nickname was "Little" or " MARY had a little'
  13. Enough with the Wei we will win this series, Splendid
  14. True that, he came from third base side and intimidated RH hitters
  15. Somewhat of a struggle for the Sox, and wondering what happened to Brasier ? But a win by any name or method counts.
  16. A large human being with equally large appetites. Could smoke a fastball over the plate or behind your head. he was fun to watch in action.
  17. Chris Davis is a sack of s*** that the orioles will eat for years to come
  18. I think he walked, not a hit, which was a minor miracle by itself
  19. The asswipe goes from 1st to 2nd only on a single to right. I was away, so may have missed the real play.
  20. If JBJr, who cannot hit right now, has a 95 % success rate of stealing 2nd base, why doesn't he run every time he gets on base, however, rare ? Because he sucks as an offensive baseball player
  21. You see the future like the three eyed crow with respect to JBJr.
  22. For the older guys the memory of Dick Radatz coming into the game was a rare thrill for the 60's Red Sox. He was the Red Sox answer to Ryne "Can't See s*** " Duren of the Yankees. I met Dick in the later 1980's and he was a great guy to hang with, drinking copious Mississippi Mudslides. His son, Dick Radatz Jr. was a young FO type before the analytics age. Dick radatz was old school and a great closer before it was fashionable
  23. The real answer is to evaluate the situation at the trade deadline and see if the team needs JBJr. Either keep him or trade him (for anything) at that point. He will try to be very expensive next yeareven if he is a sub .200 hitter in 2019. DD does not want to waste a QO on him if he can't get to .200.
  24. Regardless of political opinions, the WH visit by sports winners is an odd "tradition" that is a loser in the current political climate. It was a photo opp only and a losing proposition.
