  1. When is the last time Encarnacion not drive in a run ?
  2. In that case Big Rick ought to focus on pitching to spots that aren't likely to be Porcellos. There's a reason they are named after him. No way you can pitch that first inning, then total shutdown without something wrong with Rick.
  3. Carolina showed a lot of speed on the ice , but Rask got the big saves and the third period Bruins outmuscled the 'Canes to get a couple in the net. Would love to see Boston get to the Cup finals.
  4. Max's thought on the inability to keep the ball down , particularly to RH hitters may well be the key. As mentioned before I have been at Porcello games and watched his pregame routine of about 45 minutes, so it's not for lack of prep that he starts off the game by dealing "rocket" balls.
  5. Good comeback win with plenty of participants contributing.
  6. No way Brewer was going to have a clean inning and sure enough he comes through. The Thornburg-Brewer duo is a rare match.
  7. Why does he often suck in the first. I'm sure if he and or the coaching staff knew they would try to fix it.
  8. HP umpire is bored and calls a clear ball a strike on JBJr wrecking his otherwise good day.
  9. Giving Brasier a chance to build back his confidence with a 9-4 lead. We need Ryan to be effective to bring some more balance in the BP.
  10. What an idiot this guy Ryan Weber is. Throws the ball over the plate, doesn't use near enough pitches . Man, he needs help. 0.00 ERA after 5 innings.
  11. Day game after a night game, Leon will be catching. I think the guys will keep hitting tomorrow and King Felix is slipping from his best years.
  12. If the Sox fans had some doubts on the bullpen coming into the season, just be very glad Mike Wright of Seattle is not on our roster. It looks painful the way he throws the ball
  13. Thornburg and Brewer will get paid their contracts no matter what they do, but I have to think both are pitching for their longevity on this season's Red Sox. Right now they are only getting mop up work, saving the rest of the pen. Thornburg does himself no favors by getting tagged, blowing the shutout and otherwise sucking.
  14. He did hit it both directions tonight. I understand why he may want to favor the inside-out LF swing at Fenway, but then he showed he can reach the RF wall with a good swing. As I said earlier, Beni is hard to figure out.
  15. Well, Chavis got the run home from third on a ground out, but better than whiffing .
  16. Helluva start by EROD. Very nice to see that final K after 105 pitches. kept his shutout through 7, now for a short BP effort of 6 instead of 12 outs needed.
  17. The team definitely needed his early big power shots , but it may have given him the false impression that the pitchers were the ones who needed to adjust, not him. Anyway, would be nice to see him launch a few more
  18. No question he brought a quick and needed hitting spark . Seems to be cooling out now.
  19. Just to light a fire in what should qualify as a laugher game, Beni only seems to hit big when it doesn't matter.
  20. In reality, I expect Chavis is finding out he is overmatched with his big swing. When either or both of Holt and/or Pedey is ready, a decision will have to be made and you may see MC go south to Pawtucket for some refinement, then be back at the first opening to subsequently occur. It might refocus him a bit and get some time at whatever position they want him to work on.
  21. OK, enough joking around on Chavis or anyone else because EROD is actually throwing an excellent game and securing a win where the pitching and hitting have been most complementary and welcome. None of that Oriole gag reflex where the guys had difficulty scoring 6 innings with 86 pitches, no walks and only 4 hits, no runs.
  22. I'm told he conducts the pre-series defensive positioning meetings and personally autographs the little 3x5 cards the other guys stick in their hats or pockets
  23. You have not seen his footwork at SS, so don't make broad generalizations
  24. Apparently virtually no time at 2B . I can't really rate him and by pro standards he may be sub standard. But he hasn't cost them in any obvious ways in the field and he seems to be better than Holt and Pedey at this moment since they cannot get on the field.
  25. Range is overrated. If you proerly position yourself, you hardly have to move to field the ball. Chavis looks like a master at this
