  1. Note how fast Sandy Leon jumps ship as soon as his bat was warming up a little to help Mama deliver the baby. What can Sandy do, block the kid from falling off the bed ? Oscar will show us new meaning to light hitting catcher.
  2. And I thank those who take the time and effort to show us how the stats are trending and how the Red Sox results (not future) compare to other teams.
  3. Red Sox vs Astros, so 2018ish. Congrats to the Bruins for Carpe Diem'ing the Carolina Canes. B's reminded me of the 2018 RS in the playoffs and WS. No let up when the opponent is willing to lose to you.
  4. Glad you posted the video, so all could see that Swihart still only has warning track power, and JBJr would have caught that one if the Red Sox go back to AZ again in the future.
  5. Benintendi has 2 hits tonight, but with a chance to break the tie, he whiffs yet again to a LOOGY. Truly have little use for the short armed dude.
  6. Correct, it's on Cora and despite 7 guys in the pen, two of who are consistently unreliable, he uses his #1 choice who pitched 2 innings last night. I'll give Alex the latitude that EROD could start the inning and try to get the first guy out. When that failed EROD had to come out then. There's the fail. Now with Barnes and Walden used up, how do you finish this potential extra inning game ?
  7. Barnes pitches are all over the lot. Very little evidence of command/control. I guess it keeps the batters off balance. Good for Matt. This is a good example of your "closer" used in a high leverage situation , in mid game.
  8. Nice, another choke up by the pen. Just to make it interesting
  9. 7th inning is tough for our starters. My guess for Barnes is a quick DP, then a K. Or 2 walks for 2 runs.
  10. Maybe make a change now ?? Should have been after the first hit
  11. And won the one game concluded by hitting HR's with a man on base, then getting walked to a winning opportunity. That loss still smells
  12. Even when Jackie B gets a hit off the wall, he is still out, but the try for second with 2 outs was worth it.
  13. Maybe grow some cojones too, so he can compete at the MLB level again. BTW, he is chubby
  14. Sure hope all those K's make everyone feel better and rationalize what happened to the Win/Loss, the only stat that counts in the end. Brasier , for whatever good he did last year, has lost his confidence and ability to throw strikes. Benintendi will never be the player some think he is. Average but nothing special. Sale does not seem to get the support that he is due given his abilities. Overall, a ridiculous loss and wasted effort.
  15. Sale with 8 K's through 3 innings. The guy throws too many pitches because no one can hit his stuff.
  16. He can bang it a looooong way . Been a great catalyst .
  17. I know it's not a popular opinion but maybe Beni could learn to hit a ball once in awhile. he is as streaky as they come.
  18. Ok, Pearce just keeps digging the hole a little deeper each AB. This is not likely to end well for him. Over 40% K's. Even Nunez and Leon can make contact
  19. You are discounting the long time AAA team, the Denver Bears which predate you by a lot more
  20. I thought we were not going to Panik this early ? Overall, this deal sounds way too soon, and what would it cost in players and luxury tax?
  21. In a 13 pitcher scenario ( 5+ inning starters) , the Red Sox bench is well worth noting. Pearce, Nunez and Leon . Holt in the wings, coming off a long rest after a terrible start to his season. Pedroia is truly stuck in no man's land with his balky knee and is one positional, unlike Nunez. Who else is waiting and staying ready ; Lin or Sam Travis ? These same guys contributed to a record WS winning season in 2018, but a year older , fatter and no further development of the young guys, except Chavis. Hard to see the Red Sox going real deep with the current bench players.
  22. In retrospect (hindsight) , Pearce's signing independent of the BP and Swihart situations was understandable . Moreland, while a tough guy playing with injuries has had weak splits in second halves (.853 pre A-S; .600 post A-s in '18) so a backup RH hitter, who should be hitting .250 with 3-4 HR's by now, was not a bad choice. The price was probably a little rich, but Pearce was the WS MVP ( not the basis for a big payday). Now he is truly in a deep slumps with a high K ratio (40%), no HR's and a.336 OPS. Not DD's fault, and there are still about 120 games to go. The Sox have to pay him anyway and none of the IL list returnees are pressing the 1B position. You may say that if the 2Bmen (Pedey/Holt) return that Chavis becomes the pressure point to leave second base and go to first as the RH power hitter Pearce was supposed to be. Well if that's the case, come up with a phantom IL problem for Pearce so he can do a rehab at Portland and maybe find his swing again. Right now Steve Pearce is contributing nothing and the FO can't ignore it completely. I think the decision point becomes whether you want Chavis to get reps at 1B in Pawtucket or at 2B in MLB until one or another player drops out before Pearce does.
  23. Look for Steve Pearce at a bus stop near you this summer. He be going somewhere if he can't catch up.
  24. The ball girl saved Beni, who couldn't save himself
  25. My mother and grandmother were Red Sox fans but as Tom Hanks said, " There's no pink in baseball !" . It really looks bad on Vazquez
