  1. What can the MVP do , in his contract year ? How the hell does he miss pitch #2
  2. Now with a chance to tie the game up, the Sox have no player available hitting more than about .150
  3. Actually, several reasons for this situation tonight, barring a 9th inning RS miracle. Poor hitting with RISP, including Devers, Chavis, JDM, and Moreland. Failure to move runners up and in without a hit. Letting Rick P. pitch to Springer after the double. JDM's poor throw home . All kinds of reasons for putting a turd in the punchbowl. Next up Velazquez and a BP game. I will say that it looks a lot like Cora was setting up the Velazquez game BP tonight. Major mistake: You can only play and win the game you are in, not tomorrows.
  4. Cora loved him last year over Holt, and this year is no different. Tough situation, let's run an older utility man out there.
  5. Amen, but between rest and analytics, he keeps shuffling the deck to no real advantage
  6. Nunez DH'ing and JDM in RF instead of JBJr in center, Betts in RF and JDM DH'ing cost another run. Leaving Rick in after the leadoff double to pitch to the league HR hitter who then cranks a Porcello , that's on Cora. If he doesn't like his BP crew, call DD.
  7. So do you let Porcello come out for the 8th ? I would have to at least to the first hit or walk, then Walden followed by Barnes.
  8. Vaz has upped his game in a really big way. I never understand how other guys can't adapt to the situation where a little contact is needed. But MM and JDM, along with RD and MC all fell into the same hole.
  9. Devers and Chavis combine for 5 K's in 6 AB's , all with runners on.
  10. As a big time professional hitter, you can recognize the spin on the slider ( red dot) , especially on the second one in the AB.
  11. Look again, Thunder. Three innings ending in K's with LOB's.
  12. As usual, it comes to JDM to carry this team, a hit here gets a run and Cole will get to or over 100 pitches through 5 innings
  13. Good that Rick pitched through that play and the walk . It would have been discouraging if the 3B play had led to the one run that may win this game.
  14. Glad that Michael Chavis on the team filling the hole at 2B and crashing some tape measure HR's plus the rbi's with them. But he is about 2 years out from being a MLB hitter . That long arc swing will eat him up with 2 strikes against a pitcher with command and control. Devers has no real excuse following a lead off double to K
  15. Devers must move Bogie around F'ing poor effort, Rafi You too MC. Really poor . Cole is showing these young guys, big league pitches
  16. Yeah, you would think the analytic staff could provide data to each player about the optimum dates for conception to have the baby in a non prime month, or during a predicted IL stint in season. Great use of 10 days off.
  17. Great story. Having been in CF and RF I concur. easy to get fooled on line drives to CF . Shifting to 1B and some catching made the game a little easier in many ways, mostly not having to chase mistakes too far
  18. The DH, and your entire 3 man bench are not hitting .200 individually. Your next two IL returnees are Pedey and Holt, a combined 3 for 36 in limited action. Your first infield call up from Pawsox is Tsu Wei Lin, at 4 for 20 so far , again SSS. This lack of performance and weak reserves will not continue beyond end of July. Look for some roster action in about 2 months.
  19. Major moves forward by Christian Vazquez. Can't quite get the run yet though. Up to Nunez, lol
  20. Biggest out of the night for Rick P. right here
  21. Thta's why they call the results of pitching up in the zone , Porcellos
  22. I noticed that also on both of the two initial singles. They appeared catchable with a Reddick type effort, but on the other hand a miss would be a triple. Also, any questioning comment of Betts abilities gets you in Sox fan jail.
  23. Nunez at DH in a key series shows just how bad the 3 man bench is for the Sox this year. Normally Pearce would fill that hole, or Holt. It isn't going to be Oscar Hernandez, so in effect we have a 2 man bench tonight, including JBJr
  24. Cora said , Nunez had a better chance to make contact on Cole.
  25. 0-3 disaster; 1-2 disappointing; 2-1 still improving and gaining; 3-0 spectacular, best of all possible outcomes
