  1. Beni is PO'ed that Cora made him hit again, even after losing all that weight. Lowered his BA with a weak 1 for 5 in a blowout.
  2. Based on subsequent AB's by JBJr after his cherry popping HR, have no fear that it indicates a turnaround in his batting. Foul out and very weak kneed K.
  3. There is a chance that Toronto could be inquiring DD about Tyler and Colten
  4. Bogey banging , and Rafi raking
  5. Ryan Brasier looking effective again with some good pitches. His 1-2-3 batters were hitting .091, .148 and .199. And no , he wasn't pitching a simulated BP against the RS bottom third of order
  6. Walden, Barnes, Workman combined WHIP for 2019 is 2.35 (0.78 aver.) and are 11-1 W-L, ERA's in the 1's and 2.21 for BW. Starters are 10-16, counting Hector V. as a starter. Best ERA is Prices 3.29, all others in the 4's or higher.
  7. You are killing me with these sharp , fact based, analytic observations
  8. I don't have the stats ready but chances are the Astros pitching may outrank Toronto's. At least our guys are showing they can pound inferior pitching pretty well.
  9. Some good, funny comments. That blast did draw Jackie into a HR Derby deadheat with the late Blake Swihart, Sandy Leon and Eduardo Nunez. And Steve Pearce is ony 1 behind that crew.
  10. Cora does put out some surprises. Bringing Workman as the first reliever after Price's 5 innings , in a near blowout is odd to me. Isn't this more a Brewer/Thornburg spot ? Or even 2+ innings from Weber ?
  11. Beni looks like he's lost a few pounds. Maybe he was constipated recently. He does love to hit that poptart popup though
  12. Elvis Luciano , JBjr has left the building. With a walk to Pearce, an HR to JBJr and then another walk to Leon, Elvis completes the ultimate trifecta of poor pitching. This guy must be truly awful
  13. So the JBJr conversation gets some new fuel ! Good for him and the Sox
  14. Maybe the asswipe umpires could focus more on ball/strike calls and less on the players comments about their obvious inabilities to see the pitch accurately
  15. That would be an interesting twist . Lots of variations could be integrated
  16. What was he looking for with 2 strikes ? Watched come right down the lane , a few inches lower than a middle-middle center cut. He truly has no clue
  17. Chavis buys back the error. IMO, he is the 2Bman until someone shows they can contribute more to the offense. No offense Pedey, Holt, Nunez or anybody else.
  18. With 30 MLB teams , somebody has to be the 150th most effective thrower, more or less. EJ is near that level
  19. Mitch and X picking it up. Now David can refocus
  20. No wonder Noel's wife decided to give birth just so Ydnas would miss one of Christopher's starts, proving up Moon's stat based evidence that it's Sale/Leon forevermore.
  21. I am sure Leon is a fixture on this year's team, and maybe next also, if Chris Sale needs him. I just think that Sale should be able to pitch to a plywood backstop if he had to . He should make some sort of peace with Vaz because you can't spell Chris without the letters in Christian . Also, Sale may need a Vaz PH Pesky Pole HR to bail out one of his starts with Leon.
  22. To get a perspective on how the Red Sox are still very much in contention , last year's WS opponent , the Dodgers, on May 17, 2018 had a record of 16-26 (.380) , 8 games back in the NL West. They won 9 of their next 11, then eventually took the division in Game #163 edging out the Rockies. The 2018 Sox steamrollered them in the WS despite Max Muncy's HR . So now that we have started a new winning streak of 1 , it is possible to run off a 10-1 streak. The bench still is a weak aspect of this team ( Pearce, Nunez and Leon (?)) with the coming reinforcements of Pedey and Holt no real solutions yet. Why Brian Johnson is considered a step up over Velazquez is a mystery , neither brings much as a 5th starter . The bullpen still has questions (Thornburg, Brewer, what happened to Brasier?) but has performed well enough to not be the prime issue right now.
  23. Maybe it is Salegate, if Chris cannot pitch effectively to Vazquez. They were chirping at each other all day. Sale needs to take charge if he doesn't like Vaz's catching ability or gamecalling. Leon will not be there next year.
  24. Don't let facts mess up a good story
  25. Some of these guys may have a future in this game. That was a nice comeback win when a loss would have set the dogs of fandom on fire.
