  1. Then Rafaela shows his power and launches one. Meanwhile Bello is showing the power of the night with the shutout string of innings
  2. Assuming Refsnyder will be on board , at least to late July, the OF will be crowded when O'Neil gets off his 7 day IL, and feels stable. Who will benefit most from a a few months in Worcester ? Cedanne helps himself by playing short, still problematic with the bat. Abreu has power, may be making some consistency progress . Duran is locked in place. This is a tough one to sort out because Ref is limited in his role as a true bench/PH only vs LH'ers. O'Neill will stay until trade deadline, or longer based on recent year history at the deadline Dalbec's pending DFA can only cover one slot, leaving Reyes as the 3Bman behind Devers who may have physical problems for awhile.
  3. Did the 3B coach send him ? If so that was his first mistake. Yoshi slowed between 1`st and 2nd for a moment in case the ball was caught. Yoshi is not that quick. Anyway, thrilled for Dalbec, as he eludes the dreaded DFA for another day, and gets his hitting shoes polished.
  4. Devers says when he feels 100%, then he'll play again. On the one hand , he is correct in getting his knee and shoulder ailments rehabbed. During the interim, he is of little use because he apparently isn't even a PH candidate . But he was ok to knock out the only other significant RH batt , who is on the concussion DL.
  5. Thunder thumpers and the Sox future in Abreu and Casas going long gone. Great to stake Bello to a lead. Need to see Brayan perform well now. Amazing that the Sox cannot play well in Fenway but love the road, it seems (so far)
  6. Yes, speculation, but I'll save it for the 2027 season and see how wrong it is. Your use of non-standard spelling for leep and heep further discounts Dever's opportunities. Age 27 should be a tremendous asset to him , so hope it is
  7. No, Devers injuries will become chronic conditions that will cap his progress through his contract. He now has all the money guaranteed to him that he may ever need. Where is the motivation to stay in top condition ? He is not on an HoF track, and will finish his baseball life as a DH, probably in that role within 3 years. Then he will get really chubby.
  8. I see that Tyler O'Neill's bump on the head from Devers is a bit more serious. He is actually complaining of concussion symptoms and has to skip the weekend . Our only big time RH bat, except for Wong lately. Devers has a bone bruise in the knee area. He is on track for a brilliant start to his big contract.
  9. Adding Gutierrez added for "organizational depth" ? . Did Bloom's severance package include him making one more dumpster dive deal to fill out WooSox rotation. ? Gut is a substandard pitcher, but he has already had his TJS procedure, so there's that. Surely Breslow cannot be so reluctant to make a move for a defensive utility infielder . I think he waiting on Grissom , who we all know is the key to turning around the defense. Vaughn shows, Dalbec goes, or is it Hamilton ?
  10. My milestone for Bello will be 6 innings , 2 runs allowed by him, 1 by the defense. Our guys will score 2 no matter what else happens.
  11. Good point , Moon, on Story's status as a 10 day IL. With some obvious holes in the boat, wouldn't Breslow have already made room. Not like you will see Story back anytime within 160 days.
  12. Booser is interesting if nothing else. 31 year old pitching in AAA, never been in the Show, but did serve 50 days of baseball rest for puffing on the magic dragon and getting tested in 2017. I just have a good feeling that this stoner will lift the clubhouse spirits on this .500 team.
  13. I will put the DFA on Dalbec , although I thought he would be out when Grissom "the missin" showed up. Dalbec is sort of the up/down Devers back up, but Reyes can butcher it as well as anyone. Among the pitchers you could DFA, and not lose sleep on being picked up, is Mr. Jacques himself.
  14. With Booser coming up, it's time for 40 man roster roulette. You'll find no Booser on it. Will we get a DFA here , or another 60 day IL'er ? Let's hope that is not the case, the IL not the DFA . Breslow & Co. , officially open for business.
  15. Does the Red Sox Express from Worcester to Boston and RT, drop off and wait outside player parking, or are there 2 busses, one coming and one going? Cam Booser ?? That sounds like fun on a game thread.
  16. i realize we are nowhere near the trade deadline so perhaps nothing can be done to enrich this roster, especially while the IL list is filling faster than the Titanic boilerroom. But do inform me, what if anything is different from Bloom's tenure last few years to the current version ? Major injuries on the mound and field ( Gio/Story) ; Yoshida with the sophomore blues, Pivetta/O'Neill on short IL's and routinely filling the error prone/no hit infield with the 3 amigos. Not being negative, but how far into Devers macro contract will his shoulder issue , forget the knee, become chronic due to his swing ? NFL---Not For Long. Breslow/Cora are wrong to not give Raffy a 10 day rest too.. At least Breslow doesn't feel the need to tell us how great it will be, wait until next year. He's very quiet, probably having watched Lerner open his big mouth, not wallet.
  17. It did not take Joe Jacques very long to fit right in and stink the place up , after doing basically the same for Worcester. 2 inherited runners scored, 1 of his own scored in a 1 run defeat, , 1.80 WHIP , 3 hits , all while getting 5 outs on 33 pitches.
  18. It's not just Yoshi, who did homer this week, who is not carrying a load. But in deference to their feelings, accept that none of those listed below were really expected to do anything significant this year at the MLB level. They are gaining experience and seeing their deficiencies . Dalbec .000/.050 ; E. Valdez .143/.471 ; D. Hamilton .200/.543 ( a heavyweight here) ; Wilyer Abreu .176/.535 ; C. Rafaela .155/.472 ; P. Reyes .200/.451 Those are 6 of your 13 position players on the 26 man roster . How does anyone who is sober put the heat on Cora for anything ? This is a true AAAA lineup masquerading as MLB. Today's game begins with a Opener B. Bernandino, who did not make the club out of ST. Your bench consists of Devers, O'Neill( unavailable ?) , Dalbec, Yoshida . Both catchers are in the lineup, one is the DH And the organization charges premium prices for this effort at building a team
  19. The pitching game plan for Yoshida is locked in a safe under the code name, Tora, Tora, 3 Strikes out.
  20. Dude, they play Cleveland again tomorrow. Early. Need to get the spilt. Some guy with the initials TBD is throwing for us.
  21. Of the 94 pitches, 69 were strikes (73.4 %) The key to pitching remains starting in the zone , have movement on the ball and get the HP ump to call it right
  22. Many of the defensive misplays have been because the pitchers let the hitter smack it too hard and just out of reach. Houck has it figured out.
  23. Houck with an unheard of COMPLETE GAME, 3 hitter. The man is my MVP 2024 Bello should pay attention
  24. 4 batters in the Sox lineup with BAs below .188. 3 of them with OPS below .500 . When your Big Bopper in the lineup is Conor Wong , you need to rethink your plan, Breslow. Injuries have messed up both pitching and hitting notably.
  25. Houck clears out 2 innings with only 19 pitches---Why? Because 15 were strikes . Try that BP'ers. If Houck can get through 5 he will have the innings pitched lead for Boston after 4 rounds of starts.
