  1. WTF is wrong with O'Neill ? He is in an extended slump stretching over 15 games and counting
  2. So , it was Abreu who answered the Call to Duty. Great hit, and the chance for more, Of Course, his stupid baserunning, or overrunning puts a damper on the inning
  3. OK, some hitter or another needs to step up now and rescue this excellent pitching effort . Make it happen, Cap'n
  4. Duran may be one of the best examples of a maturing player of medium talent but whose work and hustle have made him a regular on a 4 time-this century WS winning MLB team
  5. Grissom sets the stage for his 4 for 4 night by hitting a sharp single with MoB. And with 2 outs to boot. Nice hit. Rafaela regrettably chases with MoB tonight
  6. So will this staff's performance make it harder or easier for Dave Bush(league) to get a job ?
  7. Meanwhile Houck is throwing a 1 hitter through 6 , with a sub 2.00 ERA . Bello has a ways to go to match up with Tanner's new found talent.
  8. As usual you are correct, Moon, amazing . Let's see the team record has been 2-5 since the start of the prior Ray's series, good chance to be 3-5 tonight. Now that is not at all Dever's fault , there are 6 or 7 others who shall go nameless that failed to contribute ( O'Neill, Grissom, etc) but if you are going to be the start of the team, you need to come through when needed, or at least show the effort. I doubt anyone has called Raffy a leader in the Clubhouse, or a mentor to the young Hispanic players.
  9. Very encouraging to see the progress by Duran and now Rafaela becoming a key cog in the future of this team. Big shame that Casas isn't able , yet, to get back on the field and bring his bat. Wong may be the real deal to eventually pair up with Teel. Abreu has become the other contributor who should only improve with added experience. 2024 may be frustrating since it looks like a .500 type team. 2025 may see Story back, FWIW. This year's trade deadline offers a chance to move a couple of the older guys down the road. Just add, at least 1 FA pitcher of some health/ability, and 2 guys in the BP for 2025. Get Giolito mound ready, who knows ?
  10. Exactly. How many chicken wings can fit in one bowl ?
  11. Devers has now become the single greatest HR hitter to wear a Boston based uniform. Thankfully , he did not need to run it out , since he hit it out of play, but to be fair, FAIR Ball
  12. Notice how Devers stopped running and jogged after he saw his ball hit the pitchers foot and loop straight to the 2Bman. Could he have beaten a throw, maybe not, but if the throw was off, or dropped or mishandled by the ray's 2Bman, big butt may have been embarrassed . There's only 4 or 5 times in a 3 hour game that a player has to put out some effort while hitting . For any of his attributes, some don't care for his half hearted efforts.
  13. I'll give you a general correlation between runs scored-runs allowed but even within that range it is not an absolute , with numbers that range across a wide deviation . But, the higher the differential the more likely a team is to have a won a majority of it's games. Run differential in any given game is a leading indicator of the winner and the loser.
  14. You can beat the Rays and you can beat the heat, but you can't beat the umpires or a RedSox first inning.
  15. Run differential is about equal to pitcher's WQ-L records to evaluate talent. Look at Mr. 3-5 Houck.
  16. Yeah, kind of wondered, thought MVP had gone off the deep end.
  17. Grissom needs a break to locate his hitting ability. If he is optionable, then go to WooSox until he can hit better than a.305 OPS.
  18. Weissert with 33 pitches to get 3 outs , shows how to jeopardize a 9-2 lead, finally only giving up 1 run.
  19. Refsnyder blinded by the light. Rafaela's quickness makes him look bad because he gets to balls that most wouldn't, but then he losses body control. Honestly, get a slightly smaller glove for SS
  20. Just tuned in. Who woke the bats up, maybe hitting in daylight helps. O'Neill responded to being trashed and Devers hits a HR with man on. Ump calls piling on. Not lost in the story should be Pivetta's very good outing.
  21. O'Neill, the new Mr. Irrelevant with hits that mean nothing
  22. About to be 10 games out of AL East first place in mid-May. Fantastic
  23. Numbering would have been more relevant if Ted Williams had been capable of playing RF.
  24. The 2 prior year 78-84 finishes have been roundly criticized, but consider this-- there are 6 months in the season so 6 under .500 averages out to 1 excess loss a month. So not that far from a .500 team. This bunch will struggle to maintain the 78-84 pace, they are now on.
