  1. Simple question--- why don't the Sox have a better record at Fenway over the past 2 plus this season to date ? And then turn into a plus wins team on the road. I don't think it has anything to do with crowd size enthusiasm . It shouldn't be that they have become a bit of a LH hitting team. Maybe they just don't like home cooking.
  2. Grissom got off to a bad start by being on the PUP list longer than he's now been playing. He'll get plenty of time to work on his hitting, though it will be at the MLB level. Had Valdez, Hamilton or Reyes been able to play consistent defense and hit a little, Grissom could have been given more time with WooSox Interestingly, Dalbec, Valdez, Reyes have been hitting well at Worcester , proving they really are AAA players who cannot make the jump to MLBV pitching. Hamilton may be showing improvement with more reps lately.
  3. For those expecting the Bryan Mata ( #27 on your depth chart) to be any part of this team competing for a WC (?) , don't count on this poor guy. He is finished.
  4. Basically, O'Neill is a POS fraudulently posing as a hitter. Before telling me how his April was, tell me his stats for May
  5. Fully Agree. He can be a sparkplug
  6. I can see why they are citing the rules as written, which doers not mention discretion as a factor. On the other hand it is a game determining call with odd circumstances. The guy that was interfered with caught the ball fairly easily which itself was unnecessary because the infield fly rule had been invoked so Benintendi was an auto out, the runner on second became the third out for allegedly interfering with the player who caught the ball. The contact between the players was minimal and did not alter the outcome of the play. From the replays, it does appear that the "interference" was called early in the pop up , so it was not an afterthought. Umpire may have been totally correct in his call on the field per the rules but maybe the rule should address whether the interference affects the play, leaving room for some discretion or at least a replay review.
  7. Sorry, that was a bad mistype, thinking of Andrew B., Franchy Cordero came to mind so I typed -22., instead of AB's 2.0
  8. What is everyone's take on the interference call in bottom 9 of Orioles/White Sox ? I hold Benintendi accountable for popping up with 2 on in the 9th. He is having a poor year, at -22.0 WAR already.
  9. How are the Sox supposed to win a game against a team ( Brewers) that already has 28 wins ? There is no chance of Splendid extending this streak, unless the hitters hit a ton, they steal several bases and Crawford throws a no hit-shutout. Good luck guys !
  10. To me, with over 60 years of Red Sox baseball memories, the 1978 one game playoff with NYY featuring Bucky Dent and Yaz's last out was the absolute worst let down. How Dent hit Torrez's pitch while his foot was aching I don't know to this day. Yaz going down vs Gossage on a pop to Craig Nettles. was the end of the world. I asked Doyle about it, he said Yaz wasn't all that good
  11. Fabulous sweep, SS. Bury the Rays in 4th place . Rays are lucky to have Toronto in the division.
  12. Kelly is determined to make this a save situation for Kenley. Burn your teammates, Zach.
  13. I recall a few TalkSoxers constantly referring to Grissom as he faltered getting ready to play in early May. I don't know Vaughn personally but had feeling he was not all that he was cracked up to be ( short on experience). He does offer club control for multiple years and maybe will learn to hit. He has been unlucky with his hard hit balls going At'em. However , 60 PA's with ONE walk tells something Overall, not sure where this one can go. i think only upwards because you could not be a lot worse to date.
  14. Zach kelly is another thrower, not pitcher. I would not want him in a high leverage situation which he almost created in the 8th. A 2.18 WHIP and 10 walks in 7 innings over his last 7 appearances provides evidence.
  15. An actual concern going forward , at least this year, is that Casas will always be one swing away from reinjuring it. And it does seem to take time ( weeks) for him to get up to speed at bat.
  16. Truly bewildering with the W-L record at Fenway, and it is not a 1 year aberration. Winning at home for this team should be a given.
  17. Splendid Splinter has unlocked the secret to starting winning Game Threads and unleashing the mighty lumber of Boston bats. Good work, man. You may get the longest streak of the year to date.
  18. Wong having an amazing year with the bat, ties the game
  19. Grissom is a mental failure on multiple fronts. That was just stupid, although he will say, I thought they were going to catch it ( it did hit the warning track) and I was tagging to get to 2nd. What was the coach saying ???
  20. Bello continues to show a lack of command and control , giving up 2 runs with no outs in the 2nd. He is a thrower at this stage . Maybe Bailey does not speak Spanish, because everyone else got the message.
  21. Ok, I will say it. MLKB should adopt a rule that jewelry, chains , necklaces and other personal adornments should not be worn during games. It is ridiculous and Rafaela heavy weight gold/diamonds prevent him from catching up to a fastball and helping the team. cannot wait for some player to actually suffer an injury as a result of their ostentatious display of money.
  22. Splinter, I hope you are up to the pressure of getting us a sweep and extending this winning streak. Time for young Bello to show some dominance and further solidify the pitching rotation. He should be the strength behind Houck. If at the beginning of ST if we knew one of the top 2 or 3 rotations in baseball , and an over .500 record with Bello, Houck, Pivetta, Criswell and Crawford there may have been some questions, like where did Giolito and Whitlock go ?
  23. Win a series in Tampa ? Pass the Rays, get a game over .500. All around good day
  24. Every ball except for the final out was hit like it was BP. Got to try and get some value in return for him at the deadline.
