  1. I only hope Gruesome does not fall of the MRI machine and bang his elbow . Just trying to get back on the thread topic.
  2. After July 4, the buy or sell discussion can ramp up, the A-S break happens and then finally, we can see if this CBO is a fumbler, stumbler, mumbler committed to the company line or a dumper of older guys who might be rentals for a true contender looking for a spark, while the Red Sox build a little deeper for 2025/26. I did read a piece where some ex-execs ( Jim Bowden) and others anonymous really trashed the Yoshida deal and call him untradable . That deal could somehow right itself if Yoshi became an Ichiro machine with high BA, OBP but so far Ichiro Suzuki remains pretty much miles out of Yoshi's reach. If the left thumb becomes a chronic condition affecting his swing, it could be a 3 more year disaster.
  3. Maybe the May 30th mess against the Tigers ( 4 hits/3 runs) gave Cora some pause. Martin may also be sick, tired/sore armed, or whatever else plagues 38 year old pitchers Or else it could be Alex promised him his birthday as an off day. Martin turned 38 today
  4. Bullpen Roulette again shoots Cora in the butt. Also there were 2 outs when the serious damage was done.
  5. Much credit to Cora for knowing Westbrook's strong suit is patience , taking that walk. After all he waited about 20 years to make the MLB ( from Little League days.) Also Abreu jammed his foot or ankle coming into the dugout, where he might not have been able to run out the dribbler he was destined to hit.
  6. Wong should have topped a dribbler between the mound and third and this would have been a win. Flyballs to the warning track are only useful with man on 3B , less than 2 outs
  7. WTF Cora @! Pulling Abreu for a guy with no MLB AB's Well Moonlight Westbrook showed some plate discipline and earned a walk , so he has a PA but no AB. Also Cora just burned his bench.
  8. Does Kenley ever have an easy 3 outs ? He gets it done but always on the edge. That should have been for the win. Now get it in walkoff fashion.
  9. Big HR from some guy named Devers, eradicating his previous slump
  10. This is how a .500 type team stays at .500. Let an opponent hang around and not slam them when the chance is there. Coasting on a 3-0 lead, next thing you know you are down 4-3 without anybody actually getting a big hit off you.
  11. Brayan K'ed the first guy, then a dribbler to short for a hit. That may have been the place to go get Bello.
  12. The problem with a man on 1B is that the 1Bman is covering the line robbing Abreu of a double and a tie game. Urshela , and any other former Yankee is a curse on humanity
  13. Bello off the books for the win, but could get a loss if the Sox don't score again. So far they have left too many on 3B when they had chances to crush the Tigers. This assumes Tigers score on Slaten again
  14. I would say Dom Smith is earning his keep at first today, saving Hamilton's one hopper.
  15. Together with Duran, Rafaela, Abreu , Wong , Casas ,even Hamilton, you may be seeing the formation of a young ( cheap) team for '25 and '26. Still need to augment starting pitching with a couple mid career guys who have already had TJS. Notice no mention of Story or Grissom . Maybe decent bench guys
  16. To their credit this team and AC have kept their heads at or above the .500 mark with 36% of the season complete , with virtually no productive help from the FO. There is less talent available now than on Opening Day . Maybe they are developing some Dirt Dogs though.
  17. Duran with a 2 out knock for a run after Detroit botches a 3rd out play Sox have not allowed an unearned run in the last 13 games ? Could that be right ?
  18. Wondering the same, thought maybe he had been hit by a bus or something. Where is Refsnyder ?
  19. Now AC has Bobby Dalbec back, a relief, and 28 year old MiLB vet Jamie Westbrook on his first trip to the Show. How does that make everyone feel? The deep farm produces again. In late breaking news, Vaughn Grissom will now be on the IL for awhile along with Romy Gonzalez. Gruesome Grissom just cannot get his legs under him.
  20. Cooper, knowing full well he cannot hit, K's looking for a walk, almost begging. The difference between that approach and Valdez's is all you need to see. Cooper must be very close to the top of the DFA list when Casas returns.
  21. Somebody in Worcester taught him something that is working well. Great 2 out hit.
  22. Once again, Bello not quite ready to start a game, unless he can now get a DP
  23. Notin, I know you know baseball but not familiar with superstitions ? The baseball mind is full of them. , sort of like the "unwritten " rules , lol.
  24. Great work over the last 2 games, Max. A win streak of 2 or more constitutes brilliance this year. But, it's a take what you can get year, and that includes a 3-1 series win vs an uninspiring Tigers team
  25. Looks like playing 2B for the Red Sox is dangerous to your hamstrings. If Gonzalez does go IL, Grissom another potential candidate and with Reyes sold to Mets , we are ready for a new face from WooSox or another team's DFA list
