  1. I like Salazar, I'd make a deal for him, just I'm not sure I will add a major piece from the ML roster besides Betances. Betances plus Frazier might get it done, if not we can add another arm from the minors. Not sure if it's enough, but Salazar has a huge question mark in the health department.
  2. How good is the new wave of Sox prospects? do you think they have enough upside to reach "top prospect" status in the next year? I'm not trying to knock you guys down, just don't know your system very well
  3. They will start making noise this year, most fans don't pay attention until they are in the team Top 30. Cashman needs to determine who will be a valuable piece for the ML team and start dealing the rest to clear a much needed space in the 40 Man roster, if he doesn't, the players we lost this year will be nothing compared to the following two years
  4. I think Arrieta will be one of the last to sign. He's with Boras
  5. That's exactly the way I see it, even if you have to give up some prospects you love. For example, if Trout is available I'd put everybody available for him including Sanchez, Severino and Judge (but not in the same package).
  6. You have a valid concern, but Epstein was in a WIN NOW mode and he shipped out everybody with any value. If it was only Torres then it's a different story, hard to go against Theo on his prospects evaluation.
  7. I have been reading some scouting reports on Luis Medina, it looks like he might be in some top prospects list before the end of the season.
  8. All of us who fall in love with some prospects get our heart broken very often, I was in the Banuelos hype train too and I'm not even sure if he is still in the league. A shame what happened to Swihart, he was rushed to the ML roster and now he might never reach his potential as an elite player.
  9. I'm included in the Montero hype, like most of the Yankee fans and some others, it was not a causality that he was a top prospects all across the board for three years in a row in MLB, BA and ESPN, I was against the trade at the time, but we dodged a huge bullet on that one. As you say Torres could be a utility player going forward, but is projected with a very high floor going forward, I don't really regret letting Cole pass, In this case I prefer the lottery ticket. For a different pitcher I'd be happy to include him, like Archer, Bumgarner, Sale, Keuchel, Kershaw, etc. I know they are not available, but Cole is not in their league.
  10. The difference between Montero and Torres is, that Montero had an elite bat but it was projected for many scouts to be a DH/1B and Torres is projected to be an above average defender with a really good bat (the only difference in their bat was that Montero ranked higher in the Power department). Also Montero was traded for one of the best pitchers in the league (Pineda) coming just out of his ROY season, he was not exactly cheap. Agreed on your Banuelos/Betances assesment, Banuelos was the top pitching prospect with the Yankees, he was undersized and he was not able to handle the workload even in the minor leagues. Most of the scouts in those days projected Betances as a RP, something similar to Acevedo.
  11. You are absolutely right, the other two in that list were Sanchez and Betances. If you tell me that out of the 6 top Yankees prospect we'll get two all-stars and one backup, I'll take it.
  12. yep, but it's hard to argue against their method, it's tough to be a low market team in the MLB
  13. If he stays healthy, he will be here for sure
  14. Also the Rays have 6: 14, 19, 39, 45, 49 & 96 Those guys have 5 prospects in the top 50, somehow they find a way to develop impact players.
  15. A little surprised to see Groome that high on the list after looking at the BA ranking, but good for you guys. Also Chavis was ranked as the 4th 3B prospects by MLB behind Guerrero (TOR), Senzel (CIN) and Andujar (NYY).
  16. I think Medina was really close to make it, Jorge Guzman is at 87 and before the trade he was just a notch above Medina; you're right, before the end of the year Medina will be far higher in the list
  17. It's not a bad idea to trade DRob, but we might need to eat some salary if the deal is with the Guardians or any other low market team
  18. The Guardians will not trade Carrasco he's an anchor in the rotation. I agree abut trading Gardner over Ellsbury, as much as I love Gardner is the only doable trade involving a veteran Of for the Yanks
  19. We have no use for Frazier right now, I understand Salazar is injury prone, but his upside is enormous. What do you mean by "can't find the plate"? BB/9 SO/9 SO/BB Severino 2.4 10.7 4.46 Tanaka 2.1 9.8 4.67 Grey 3.7 8.1 2.19 Salazar 3.8 12.7 3.34 Cole 2.4 8.7 3.63 Those are 2017 numbers, I understand he's not in Tanaka/Severino level but he's ratio is very close to Gerrit Cole, which was our trade target not long ago.
  20. I got an idea from a different site The Guardians lost Santana and Shaw to FA, there's obviously an opening in the BP and 1B, there are talks f moving Brantley to 1B/DH duties which solves the hole left by Santana. What about the following trade proposal? Frazier + Betances for Danny Salazar Frazier can fight for an OF spot and Betances can fill in for Shaw in the BP. For the Yankees Salazar is the Depth they have been looking for in the rotation, if healthy, Salazar is electric. I would do that trade from the Yanks perspective, don't know if the Guardians bite will.
  21. You never can have enough pitching, this type of things sort themselves out. with 162 games in the season you are asking your rotation to start 32 games in average, that's next to impossible, I don't know how many SP reached that number in 2017. Anyway with 6-7 reliable options, you are asking your every pitcher in the rotation to start 22-27 games in average which is a more realistic goal in the last few years. Basically with only 5 SP you are asking every pitcher to absorb the workload of prime CC or 2017 version of Sale.
  22. I agree, his numbers should be somewhere between 2015 & 2016, I think the 2017 is "out of character" for him, still to early to call a "career mean" with only three full years in the majors. The guy has talent, I wouldn't be surprised if he pulls a "2016 type of season" again, but chances are he will be closer to the numbers he had in 2015.
  23. I'm warming up towards Darvish, it looks like he was tipping pitches during the playoffs, but I like him, he would an asset in the rotation
  24. Yes, that might be difference in the farm system, compared to previous years.
  25. Yeah, I read the same thing regarding Andujar, it looks like he's a strong character kid, it's the type of players Cashman is hoarding lately
