  1. It looks like the Pirates keep asking for Torres, so far Cashman is holding his ground on this, it looks like the three prospects near to "untouchables" are Torres, Florial and Sheffield. I said near untouchables because in the right deal nobody should be untouchable, let's say the Angels call and put Trout in the trade block, then is "all hands on deck", everybody is available, including the first team. Again, only a few players in MLB are in that category.
  2. I just want to see Gleyber play again after the injury, I know is in his non throwing elbow but still concerned because he was not fully developed when it happened Regarding Andujar, we don't need an allstar all across the diamond, I'm ok if he is a little bellow average as long as he keeps working in his flaws, the only problem I see, is that he will be pressured to perform while in the ML roster, in AAA he can keep working in his fielding.
  3. We'll see about the spark of the newcomers, regarding leadership skills we have Gardner, Didi and I believe it was the main reason CC was resigned. Either way, I agree with you, it will be a race all the way to the end, probably decided in the last two weeks of the season between Sox and Yankees, the other teams are not in the same class.
  4. You have a good point regarding the 16 HRs by Castro last year, but we have Gleyber to fill for him, Andujar at third to replace Headley/Frazier and (finally) a full season of Bird, I Torres and or Bird are anywhere close to their projections I don't think there would be a problem replacing Castro's production.
  5. This "hot stove" has been boring, besides the Yankees-Stanton splash nothing has been really "hot"
  6. A little late, the Rockies just signed Wade for a massive 3 yr / 52 Millions contract, surprised for the amount paid for him
  7. For me the "dark horse" between the Yankees IF prospects is Thairo Estrada, he might be a ML regular or an improved version of Torreyes. If they trade Andujar, is because Cashman thinks this guy (or Wade) have a good enough upside to be ML regulars, after all you don't need an all-star in every position.
  8. A big "IF", but yeah I agree with you. Either way one team will win the division and the other will get in as WC, I have no doubt about it. No other team in the division is even close.
  9. You are right regarding Moncada 2B, either way his future place was blocked in the ML team by Pedroia in his prime. When teams stop doing this and they are forced to make a move, driven by panic, is when that deal comes back to bite you in the rear side. As a Yankee fan I hope Cashman doesn't give up on those prospects. If the pirates GM doesn't think the trade helps his team he shouldn't make the deal, as simple as that.
  10. Both have to stick to their interest, if there's no deal that satisfy both sides the deal should not happen period. The Yankees need Torres and Andujar, the IF has two holes which can be filled by those guys, you deal guys which are blocked in their road to the majors, the same way Boston did with Moncada, they dealt him because Bogaerts was already in the first team and Sale took the future place of Kopech, you deal from your strength. The Yankees can afford to lose some of the high upside arms in the minors or prospects for the outfield, they are loaded in those two positions not in the IF.
  11. Sherman's trade proposal on MLB Network - Frazier/Adams/Wade for Cole Seems fair for me, but if you add Sheffield you could get Archer from the rays
  12. I don't want them to trade Andujar either, but as long as they don't deal Sheffield or Freicer Perez, any other pitcher in the minors is fair game
  13. I agree, he might not have a high ceiling but he can be a ML regular for years But, unfortunately, I have the feeling he will be included in the deal, the Bucs really need IF help and this guy is ML ready
  14. It looks like the Pirates stopped asking for Torres to be included in the deal for Cole, still want Frazier, Adams and probably Andujar I hope they don't give up Andujar he could be the 3B of the future for the Yankees, I don't mind giving up one of the big upside pitchers in the lower minors instead of him. http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/baseball/yankees/yankees-gerrit-cole-pirates-torres-table-article-1.3715282
  15. If somehow the Sox fall out of the race they should just cut Hanley before the vesting option is activated.
  16. While I agree with you that prospects which are 3+ years away are a long shot, this is not the case for the prospects I mentioned: Andujar & Adams are ML ready Torres is less than a season away Sheffield is 1 yr or less away Florial is the one a little far but he will be ready before the end of 2019 None is a sure thing but those are the prospect you have to bet your future on, the other option is to keep overpaying for FA already past their prime. But if Madison Bumgarner becomes available, all hands on deck, everybody should be available; the same thing DD did to land Sale
  17. Still not trading Torres or Florial, those two are my untouchables. I can live without Shefield, Adams even Andujar, but not the first two.
  18. The point is that we don't need McCutchen, I'd love to have him but is just not a good fit
  19. I don't think Frazier is a 4th OF, in my opinion he will be above average, just not a superstar like some people think. Adams + Florial is too much for Cole, in my opinion Florial will be a stud, I believe he will be a top 10 prospect in baseball by mid 2018 Adams + Andujar is fair, I see Andujar in the same ballpark of Frazier. I don't believe Cashman really wants to trade Frazier is more like he will deal him for the right player, Florial emergence has made Frazier expendable, plus the Stanton trade, there's no room for him in the OF, Yankees have at the ML Judge, Stanton, Gardner, Hicks, Ellsbury and Frazier, 6 players who can be playing full time in several teams; if they dump Ellsbury I bet Cashman removes Frazier from the trade block.
  20. That could be a solution but I just don't see Cashman trading Gardner. He's a good clubhouse presence and while he's not a star he's very consistent and durable.
  21. Even if you don't like Frazier, you can't call a package of Frazier + Adams a joke; I'm not that high on Frazier either but I think it was a decent proposal. We agree that Sale is far better than Cole and also Kopech better than Adams but the difference between the last two was not that big, MLB Prospect had Kopech at 30 when the trade happened and Adams is at 53 right now. I know that rankings is not the best way to assign value to prospects but is a good baseline.
  22. Sounds interesting, but we don't need McCutchen and we really need Torres, there are a couple holes in the IF (2B & 3B)
  23. I think the Pirates overplayed their hand, they were asking for a Chris Sale package for him, Torres, Adams, + others; Torres has almost the same value of Moncada a couple years ago and Adams is like Kopech, I understand Kopech always had more upside but Adams is ML ready and there were some make up questions on Kopech. The package was similar. Cole is nowhere near Sale in performance and years of control, I'm happy Cashman didn't pull the trigger on that trade. By the way, Pirates have every right to ask for the best but is the other side decision to accept it.
  24. The asking price was ridiculous, I still hope Cashman is working on something big. No Darvish please, unless Cashman moves Ellsbury
  25. Ohhh man !!! I was looking at the Castillo deal, I can't believe he still has 3 yrs left in that contract, at least Ramirez and Sandoval played in the bigs for a while to "deserve" that contract but this guy....
