  1. Even if Monty was very good for us, I tend to think he will have some kind of a second year slump, better to be safe than sorry, need CC or any other innings eater pitcher
  2. I don't think Adams is a lock for the rotation yet, we need some insurance, that's why we need CC to throw about 150 innings, you can't have enough pitching
  3. I agree that LaRussa is a great baseball mind and can help a big deal with ideas, the difference will be the role he will play with the team, if it's really in an advisory role for DD then great, if it's to second guess or micromanage Cora then the team will suffer
  4. Or a safety net....
  5. Now that you compare them side by side it makes a lot of sense, my first impression was different
  6. Based on this list not even Mookie Betts will get you Bryant (very surprised by this list)
  7. They listed only Bryant, Rizzo and Contreras as untouchable, the rest of the team is fair game By the way, Benintandi won't get you Bryant, you will need to add far more than that
  8. That was on Borass, the timing was awful
  9. He opposed to the Arod extension after the opt out, that fiasco was all in Hank S. after that move he was removed from any significant role in the Yankees FO
  10. Vegas released the odds for the job and Thomson is leading Don't know where they are getting their info but they have Joe Espada in the top three ---- WTF???? Rob Thomson: +500 Al Pedrique: +550 Joe Espada: +600 Tony Pena: +750 Kevin Long: +800 Trey Hillman: +850 Willie Randolph: +1000 Pete Mackanin: +1000 Larry Rothschild: +1000 Raul Ibanez: +1100 Make your bets
  11. Me too, but I'd like him to be the bench coach first and the jump to the big job. I believe he will be a fine manager.
  12. The m's have a good chance, but my money is with LAD, a lot of money coming out of the books and the prospects to make it happen. I read that the Giants are the early favorite to land him, it looks like he's going west. If not for the farm I'd say the Angels will land him, the owner is known for making bold moves and he's not afraid to add payroll; also the "Trout window" will close in a couple years and they need to win now. They just don't have the prospects to land him unless the Marlins are in a hurry to dump that contract.
  13. The teams who can afford him and have the goods to get him are only a few, LAD, BOS, SF, Cards There are more teams who can use him, but either don't have the prospects/players to get him or the money
  14. My candidates are 1. Al Pedrique 2. Jay Bell
  15. I just read that the Cubs are getting Chili Davis and Butterfield
  16. NO I hate that idiot
  17. What do you think now?
  18. Exactly my feelings, always supported him with the exception of the infamous game 2
  19. I agree, Nuñez will break your heart, all the talent in the world but something is just missing in this guy, this coming from a Yankee fan who had a lot of faith in him
  20. I just read in the web the Cubs are targeting Benintendi this offseason, don't know how realistic this is, but they say the only untouchables will be Bryant, Rizzo and Contreras, the rest of the roster will be fair game; knowing how Theo operates it's hard to believe, In the hypothetical case it happens, who will the Sox should ask in return from the Cubs, Schwarber, Baez, Russel????
  21. Signing Edurado Nuñez should be a priority for you guys (if he's healthy), he should be a nice place holder for a couple months
  22. Is the way I see it, both will benefit with the change, Cubs need a closer and Schwarber bats is a plus everywhere, Betances has some things to work on his mechanics but has the goods to be a closer he only needs a pitching coach who can help him fix his delivery and stay consistent, Schwarber need to work in his swing, some time in the minors could help him big time, imagine a lineup of Judge, Bird, Sanchez and Schwarber ???? as a yankee fan I can dream about this. We might add Ellsbury and 2/3 of his salary to help them, he's still valuable in the field and was having a good season before his concussion. I know is wishful thinking but you never now, Theo and Cashman always had a good working relationship, hope it happens
  23. For some reason cubs fans are down on Schwarber, I don't understand why, he had a down year, but the guy is a monster when he's on, still very young to fix whatever is wrong with him. Don't know if Theo and the rest of the FO are down on him too, if they are down on him, Cashman would be crazy not to call and ask what it would take to get him.
  24. Any team willing to land Goldsmith will have to give the farm to get him, he's one of the players with the most trade value in MLB. A deal for him will have to start with Benintendi, Devers plus others to have the Dbacks attention, from the Yanks they might ask for Judge, Sanchez + others, I know is crazy but is the type of package it might take to land a player like him, I don't see Arizona trading this guy, I think they will try to extend him.
  25. Interesting 1. The only way I see for dumping Ellsbury is if we make him part of a bigger deal, still we'll need to eat a huge part of his salary 2. I think the Cubbies will be interested in Betances, in a cubs forum somebody suggested Betances for Schwarber, both are coming from down seasons, not sure who has the more value right now. 3. There won't be a short of suitors for Castro, a clear case of "Sell HIGH" candidate 4. Otani, if he comes to America we have o good chance but I feel he ends up with LAD 5. I'm sure Stealth Cashman will work his magic especially to shrink the 40 man pool 6. For CC I was thinking more like 1 at 10 plus incentives + an option which becomes guaranteed if he reaches some milestones (like IP) 7. No problem dealing Warren, but we still need Gardner as a safety net (I'm not completely sold in Hicks/Frazier) and as a mentor for some of the young guys, he's a positive presence in the clubhouse
