  1. I believe he already has his mind set in what he will do, he's stubborn and doubt he deals away top talent to get what this team needs (TOTR). I trust Cashman but he might need to go out of his comfort zone on this trade market to improve the team.
  2. It might work, but a lot of "if" in your model, if Tanaka pitches something close to last year playoffs, if CC can keep his dominance towards the end of the year. The safest bet, in my opinion, is to add a big game pitcher during the season, I'm not talking about Happ or Hamels type of pitcher, I'm more inclined to get a deGrom or MadBum type; I know it's a tall order and might need to give up a LOT to get either of them. I don't see passing us over the Astros in a 7 games series, they have an improved rotation and their lineup is very good. I like our chances against the SOX, even if they are clicking right now, we match up good against them.
  3. I know, that's why this trade is not happening, not enough motivation on the Yanks side, we are covered in the IF even if Machado is a top talent, Britton will be just for insurance no because of a current need. Cashman should stay on the SP market, need a TOTR pitcher
  4. That's the reason I don't think it's going to happen, it's a very long shot unless there are more players involved like Britton and the Yankees unload Ellsbury on them. If not, what's the point to trade for him if they can have him for only money in the offseason?
  5. In any case I don't see the Mets trading their guy to the Yanks without including one or two of Sheffield, Frazier and Florial. remember there's a "premium" required if they are shipping somebody to the Bronx
  6. If you look at the trade today it looks like Boston beat the c.. out of Chicago, but back in the day it was a huge package, in my opinion it was way too much for him, at the end it worked out for Boston. I get your point regarding unproven players, I agree that the safest bet for whoever trades premium players is to get talent at or above AA, bellow that is most of the time a lottery ticket, for example Torres was still a class A player which succeed at the upper levels and the so far in ML, the other side of the coin is the case you mentioned in Kopech (still can be successful case, but as you said he's having issues with his control) If I were on the Mets side I'd ask for Sheffield and Frazier, I doubt Cashman makes the deal but that would be a good package. By the way, the Mets could find some takers for Cespedes and Bruce during the offseason for some minor pieces
  7. Think of the Sale trade, I guess we agree that Sale >> deGrom, they have similar control years 3 to 2.5 with Sale with a better track record, he was basically a safer bet to trade for, the Sox gave the following Sale for Moncada, Kopech, Basabe and Diaz, at the time of the trade Moncada was BA No. 3, Kopech No. 32, the other two not ranked. If Sale is much better than deGrom at the time of the trade it means that Florial BA No. 38 & Sheffield No. 41 plus to minor pieces it's a fair trade proposal for deGrom, we might not need to include Medina at all. Based on that a very good package would be Florial, Sheffield & Adams (BA No. 81). By the way, I doubt Cashman gives that much for deGrom.
  8. I agree with you on some of this, for the Yankees to get deGrom it might take the next: 1st: Florial or Frazier, most of us are a little down on Frazier but I believe is not the same with the people who makes decisions and Florial upside is appealing 2nd: Sheffield or Loaisiga, some people didn't know who Loaisiga was before this season, but the Yankees decided to protect him in the Rule 5 draft, his value is much higher than people realize 3rd: Adams, his value is down but at least he will be a good BP arm, at his best he could be a 2-3 SP 4th: that's a tough one but Torreyes could be the wild card for this trade or they might want a player with big upside in the lower minors like Medina. Package 1: Florial, Sheffield, Adams & Torreyes or Medina Package 2: Frazier, Loaisiga, Adams & Torreyes or Medina I just don't see Cashman dealing Torres or Andujar
  9. I love them If Andujar can get a few more walks he could be an all-star every year, he's close to that now imagine if he improves his OBP
  10. Call me crazy, but I like Wheeler I love deGrom but his cost will be crazy, I don't see Cashman paying the price for him or Thor
  11. You should look at Joakim Soria, he could be an interesting option https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/s/soriajo01.shtml
  12. I don't think Drury holds a lot of value lately, he won't be the center piece in any major trade
  13. Very excited to see those guys in the ML, they look like the real deal; losing on Cole last offseason was painful but it looks like Cashman was right (again) in holding up on Andujar. Reports say that the Muts are asking for both +some other prospects for DeGrom, they wish lol
  14. Loaisiga will be a BOLD move, he has only like 160IP in his career, it looks like his stuff plays everywhere, but they need to protect that arm; no idea about his innings limit
  15. There are rumors today that the Mets will be listening to offers for DeGrom and Syndergard. The yankees should persue them but cost will be HUGE, if we don't give up pieces from the first team (Torres, Andujar, Bird, etc), almost anybody else should be available
  16. Hope they mess with us this way in the playoffs
  17. I agree, that's a tall order, but if they not go the distance in every game they are beatable
  18. Gray has been a disappointment, the way is looking right now the A's could be the overall winner after all is said and done Fowler will be a ML regular at least Mateo could be a nice leadoff hitter (hit and miss) Kap could be the real jewel of this trade (Cashamn was very reluctant to give him up, reports said that he was willing to include Adams instead of him)
  19. I still think Gleyber takes the award home, I don't think Othani keeps that performance for much longer. By the way, Tyler Austin is still a rookie and leads the majors in HR (by a rookie player), a little overlooked by everybody, he could be the dark horse for the ROY award, bad thing he will lose some playing time to Bird when he comes back.
  20. Word is he will be out until August, bad news for the kid
  21. It's really exciting to see all those arms, but the risk is to start losing them in the draft, I hope they can use some of them for a FO starting pitcher, I'd hate to lose some of them for nothing, at least high end talent in lower minors
  22. Bad news for you guys, Groome to have Tommy John surgery out between 12-14 months, if everything goes according to plan he will be back towards the end of next season tough break for the kid
  23. How many HR in the game tonight??? Last year those two guys were near the top in the league of HRs allowed Porcello at 1.7 HR/9 Tanaka at 1.8 HR/9 This year Porcello has been different at only 0.4, Tanaka also improving but a lower clip his number this year is 1.3 Facing those lineups, the chances we see a few HR is high, so I'm placing the line at 4. What is your bet over/under 4 HR given up by the starters? I'm betting OVER!!!!!!!!!!!
  24. me too But if my memory serves me right, he was light up in his previous start against them
  25. expectations for tonight???
