  1. I mean, it's a close race between him and Dingler for the second C in the all star game.
  2. Poorly defining a stat isn't an argument against said stat.
  3. Exactly, It's Wins Above REPLACEMENT! not Zero. Although......maybe we should create that stat. WA-0
  4. Back in April he was throwing at 80-90% touching 90 MPH, I'd have to imagine he'd be throwing off of a mound soon if he isn't now, although I feel like we would have heard about it. He's going to get into some games in the second half of the season.
  5. This would imply that a replacement level team would win 0 games. Which is not what WAR is, it’s above replacement level. Baseline would be like 48-50 wins. so Sox should have a cumulative WAR of appx 19 right now with their record NOT 30-34
  6. This is pretty much my take. And when you do that, you're going to have some losses......you gotta be able to stomach that if want to reel in the big fish too though.
  7. They're were ranked by BA/MLB.com pre season as Mathews 41/45 Wetherholt 25/23 In terms of value, it almost be like getting back Teel/Montgomery. If they decided to become sellers and figure they need to make room for Anthony, I'd certainly consider that trade.
  8. I predicted Roman Anthony would be promoted to the big league club by June 1st. I was wrong.
  9. I'm sure there would be, I'm not sure why there wouldn't be. He's a gold glover and mashes righties. Teams probably like Duran better, so it would make sense to ask for him first. Maybe they think he'd be a little cheaper too seeing how he has less control. If the Sox see Duran as part of their long term plan the next three years more so than Abreu I could easily see them saying "well Duran isn't for sale, but how do you feel about Abreu?" I'd suspect said team would either say, yes no or up the offer. Who knows, pure conjecture.
  10. are italics still the international symbol for sarcasm on the world wide webs?
  11. That would be a huge violation of the rules if Cora was managing the games from afar, and it just seems bonkers. I think it makes more sense that Cora's style rubbed off of him as you said.
  12. Oh, you're still under team control. We should be able to get a hefty return for you then.
  13. I would trade Abreu over Rafaela or Duran as well I just mentioned Duran because his name has been floated around. To be fair, at the end of the day, no one is untradeable for the right price. Duran does get you the most. I don't believe anyone is taking on Yoshida or Story's contract. You'd have to subsidize most of it, so it wouldn't be much of a salary dump. Sox would likely have to part with high quality prospects to get 1/2 that money off their books. Or take a contract back. And if they're not bringing back quality pieces to compete now, it's really a waste to shed the salary (unless they can get under the cap and reset) Buehler is not a #2. I'm sorry but he's not. I was a fan of the signing, and he might be again at some point, maybe even this year, but despite a very good playoff run last year Buehler has not pitched like a #1 or #2 since 2021. He's also a free agent at the end of this year heading into his age 31 season. You're either going to Q.O. him or trade him, if the season looks lost you trade him.
  14. I heard there have been a few interested parties, but they want us to kick in all your salary.
  15. That's a pretty serious accusation, was this a thing? was there any evidence of this?
  16. If the Sox did become sellers, the return they could get for even just Buehler and Chapman would be enticing. Duran makes sense to make room for Anthony. I know people would probably rather trade Rafaela but you're going to get a lot more for Duran. And the Sox really could use a pitcher. Could we see a little selling and buying this summer? I wouldn't mind selling Duran/Buehler and bringing in a good starting pitcher with an extra year of control.
  17. Lets just trade everyone. Duran, Bregman, Chapman, Campbell, Narvaez, Bello, Wong, Giolito. Clean house.
  18. I get that, and if that's the case we mine as well keep as many guys at their position as we can. Mayer is the SS of the future.
  19. Trevor Story has a .289/.339/.489 slash line vs. LHP. At the very least, they need to start benching Story vs. RHP. He could platoon 2B with Hamilton if they ever moved Campbell to 1B. I would say the same of Campbell but I want him to get his AB's in and evolve. EDIT: This is until he is DFA'd
  20. I won't argue against that
  21. That wasn't a direct comparison of Story but rather the concept of the sunk cost fallacy.
  22. Well, Masa is also injured. Like legit injured, I think we all speculated he wasn't but apparently he actually is. But at least Masa can still hit and get on base. But we don't need a DH.
