    I see one big more coming, whether it's Marte trade (or something else) or they're signing Bichette or Alonso but they're going to add a high end bat. Maybe they resign Bregman, if they resign Bregman get ready for a long offseason....I think he's going to go into 2026 like he did last year.

    Zero reason why we should do that. Then we just have to go out and spend $ on an infielder anyways, So we'd be trading Mayer to increase payroll....that is never going to happen. Unless the Diamonbacks want some of our pitchers or our outfielders there is no match here.

    People think the past repeats itself, when it generally just rhymes. But more specifically they think the immediate past repeats itself. So therefore the Red Sox will never spend again. That will be true every year until it isn't. Truth be told, Sox spend....people just don't like how they spend.

    Breslow is going to do something this week, I'm not sure we will all like it, but he's going to do something.

    And yet on average the blue jays scored .07 more runs per game than the Red Sox, or 12 for the whole season. I'm not arguing that there's not work to be done, especially when subtracting Bregman but the difference between Boston and Toronot literally was probably just Toronto was hot when they got into the playoffs while the Red Sox went ice cold.

    Toronto had 5 more home runs than us all of last year, and came within a play of winning the world series.

    Back to back doubles does the same thing as a home run. I'm not saying power outage isn't a problem, but you don't have to hit home runs to win....you just have to score runs.

    1/2 the board seems convinced the Sox will not go over the luxury tax threshold. If that were true, the Sox have about 17 million to spend. Which means maybe we get Okamoto at 3B with Casas at first and that's it. Thats our off season. Perhaps a Duran trade is still in the works, but that increases the budget to what? 24 million? That's probably not enough to sign any of Alonso/Bichette/Schwarber. But it would be enough for a Marte trade. Personally, I think they're easily going above that first threshold. I think they settle in just shy of $260

    I think we’re about to see either Duran or Abreu get delt in the next 6-7 days. We got the meetings coming up and it’s highly likely to happen when the action takes place.

    The greatest thing about this trade, is it should make some of us think about how insane some of our trade proposals look to other teams. BTV rejects this trade, it’s accepted if the Brewers kicked in Freddy Peralta, but still labels it an overpay by Boston

    It shouldn't be their job to get a guy who has been a #2, rather it should be their job to get a guy who is GOING TO BE a #2. If you look back at who the best 20 pitchers in the league were the last several years, half those are guys you never would guess would be there the several years prior to that. Sox might very well fail to do that, and they deserve all the grief in the world if they do. But lets not pretend like any of us really have any ideal what they think Ocviedo, Sandoval, Gray can do. Teams take guys, tinker, and develop them into something they were not a year ago all the time......and they fail all the time too. I say let the Sox cook, and judge them on the results.

    He's going to get an extra option year though, isn't he? Also, I think if you truly believe a guy has talent and a chance to be a TOTRS you don't have such a short leash on putting him in the pen. I think the Sox are starting him at AAA no matter how this conversation goes. He probably breaks into his MLB career as a reliever but depending one how they view his development this year he probably goes right back into the rotation in 2027 just like you will see with Tolle this year. (who very well may end up back in the pen at some point)

    I think what MVP's take is that he's a bullpen arm so why delay the invevitable and get him up in the pen now where he can help the big leauge team. Especially seeing how he has no options left. Normally I'd agree, but given his level of talent I think you have to give him more time as a starter and It seems very likley to me based on what we hear that this is how it's going to transpire for now. I do think we see him in a bullpen role in Boston by the end of the year though.

    You seem to be really against Perales in the rotation. If a guy has TOTR potential why wouldn’t you at least start him there this year? there doesn’t really seem to be anyone anywhere that has a problem with him continuing to start, for the moment at least

    Don't shoot the messagnger, this is how the Sox are playing it. You seem to have an affinity to trade or move Perales into the pen. That's ok, opinions are like a$$$$$ we all got one including me. Personally I think, and I believe the Sox think this way too that there is more value in taking the chance to see what he can do in the rotation. Is there risk there? absolutley, but if teams didn't take that risk Crochet might be pitching 1 inning at a time in Chicago still.

    I think we all know some Prospects are more tradable than others. Teams obviously have a prefernce to keep certain guys because they believe in their talent or they need the depth there. I'd say that Perales is held in a much higher regard than Travieso, now I don't think that means Perales won't be traded at all. But I certainly do NOT think the Sox are actively shopping him and I see no reason to believe they are.

    Wait....have their been any rumors of the Sox shopping Perales?

    That's a subjective opinion, I'm fairly certain the Boston Red Sox are going to give him a long look in the rotation down in WOO this year. He's very highly regarded. He very well could end up in the bullpen, but his path to get there for the time being is most certianly likely the rotation for now.

    I don't think there's any chance they move Perales to the pen. He's starting in WOO, not may we see him in the pen mid to late year? much more likley.

    I think the swing man role for Crawford does make the most sense. I don't think this is highly probable, but I wouldn't be 100% surprised if someone like Bello was moved for an upgrade in the rotation.

    I was thinking the same thing about Crawford being on the chopping block, but he might just be one of the best options for that swing man/long relief role that they love so much.
