    You know Cora was taking the fall for Raffy, he’s not going to publicly say “ yeah I asked him and he refused” they’d literally trade a guy before admitting that

    I can state my opinion and say we should be done with it too. the narrative that it was Cora is bull. Devers was asked about it and was obviously annoyed suggesting “what are the going to do ask me to pitch next” which was obviously absurd and uncalled for. i don’t buy the whole spring training narrative. I firmly believe that the vast majority of teams, if not every single one of faced with a first baseman blowing out his knee, zero depth at 1b, plenty of other options in the OF would of asked their star hitter who most had pegged for a first baseman to switch over to first. maybe it doesn’t stick, maybe he’s no good there, but in the absence of a player throwing a hissy fit. Every team would have made that decision. Nobody wants Toro as their everyday first baseman. look we all got opinions. Y’all wanna say Raffy wasn’t a baby for not moving that’s fine, that’s your opinion. But denying it wasn’t the logical baseball move that any team would have made is absurd.

    I say this as someone who is 100000x more of a fan of Raffy than John Henry. he was not a good teammate by refusing to pick up a first baseman’s glove. its not like it was unsolicited, CaSAs went down with a horrible injury. To me that’s the difference

    I agree, up until Casas was hurt. because Devers not moving over. That meant Toro as our first baseman. that was obviously NOT the best lineup

    It’s also not a zero sum game. It can both be true that management mishandled the Raffy situation in the offseason and he was a bad teammate for not moving over and putting himself first. again. Absolutes…don’t be a sith

    I think people just like Raffy and admitting he was wrong or being a bad teammate by not moving over is a threat towards their feelings about him. its not. it can both be true that he was a good player and you can like him and STILL have issue with him not doing what was easily and obviously best for the team when Casas went down. its ok. We dont have to live in a world of absolutes. Only Sith Lords deal in absolutes

    So different, 90 feet over and fielding balls from a different angle and playing catch. Thats too much to ask for for $30 million a year. Bull f****ng s*** dude. He screwed the team. We could of had a better lineup without Toro in it. BTW WHAT POSITION is Devers playing this year????? EDIT: sorry, with Toro OUT of the lineup

    I think you hit the nail on the head here, and it’s why the Sox have a chance to have a really good offseason if the make a big move at 2B/3B. But they’re going to have to be willing to pay the cost. Which continually seems to be an interesting theme around here

    Sox obviously fumbled with Bregman, they could literally go out and get a few guys who will probably be better than Alex over the next several years but are unwilling to pay the price. it really feels like a move HAS to be coming, and it’s hard to fully grade the offseason until we know what that move is. if I could split things up I’d say. pitching A- (minus because no relief help) hitting - incomplete. If no moves are made I’ll give them a D- a big name added like Marte to Shaw could compel me to move that grade up to an A. The other names being mention is c-b territory

    Sox getting back Gage Ziegler. A 2024 4th round pick. fastball up to 94, does not miss bats. Does have a lot of pitches he mixes in with good control.

    We are all sending $8 million to Chicago. i call this a win, and it clears out two roster spots. And this is before the return is announced

    Jordan Hicks + David Sandlin traded to the white Sox. Return is unclear. prediction, Sox probably eating some money, getting back a low a kid and clearing out some roster space

    I believe Devers is going to be the Giants starting 1B in 2026 so we will all get our chance to see how they’d go. the Sox might have jerker him around, but any team player in his position, looking at what the team is going through, would have picked up a first baseman mitt. you can’t tell me he’s not a s***** teammate. He might be a cool guy who is liked, but you can’t tell never tell me he’s a team first guy. That’s my lane, and it’s smooth sailing over here.

    No, if healthy they’ll all be fine. Projections aren’t crystal ball readings.

    That’s what I meant. The odds of at least one of them going down is high, both? Decent. A Sogard, Romy, Hamilton IF would be disastrous

    What is the second full season? maybe his first full season? A career high 91 games in 2022 doesn’t change my level of concern at all for the Sox lack of infield talent and depth

    I really like Mayer, I’m super high on him. But the fact is like you said he’s unproven and I’ll reiterate has injury concerns and platoon concerns. im fine rolling the dice with him starting, actual I’ve been advocating it. But doing so with Story and a collection of platoon players around him is malpractice. the Sox need a proven, productive, MLB starting caliber infielder. It was arguably the Sox biggest offseason need and they’ve completely neglected it to date.
