  1. It's certainly not the top of my worries, but Yoshida has very little value as a guy who is not playing everyday. You want your bench guys to have some combination of E.G. ability to play multiple positions well and to run fast, a back up catcher, and maybe a platoon bat. What can Yoshida do? he has a decent hit tool but he's a lefty, he doesn't run, he can't field, he has little pop. He's very limited in the bench role. Again, at this point I'd live with him there to keep someone like Duran on this team and keep the lineup intact. Might pay dividends if an outfielder goes down and he moves into the DH position full time but Yoshida as a bench player is certainly less than ideal.
  2. Yeah, I know...It's Yoshida.
  3. Hypothetical, if dogs doubled in size (cats X5) to both be bigger and weight more than humans. I think your dog would still love you. Your cat would almost immediately eat you.
  4. I think at this point it makes more sense to trade a package of prospects and/or pitchers to acquire a player to fill in the IF hole. The four outfielders can rotate the three positions with the DH position. Sure, this creates a headache with Yoshida, but we've been dealing with that regardless. At some point they might have to make a decision with him but for now.....that's probably the easiest path to a good lineup. Adding someone like Paredes opposed to Shaw or Marte looks a lot better if you're not taking Duran out of the lineup.
  5. The slash is an underscore, and it’s on the CUBS side of the equation. that makes more sense, but it’s worded like Shaw plus (some other guy) for these three outfielders. obviously an absurd fantasy trade, but adding Crow-Armstrong would make it equal (ish) value and would honestly give me pause. i probably still say no.
  6. Add. THat package is giving 70 surplus value to Chicago. That's like Chicago receiving a whole Garet Crochet extra in value. To fill in the void and make it even Chicago would have to give up Pete Crow-Armstrong who is an elite CF on his own. I guess you throw Yoshida in LF and just have Armstrong and Anthony round out CF/RF. Not the worse ideal, but insanely unrealistic in my book.
  7. #4........what is your 2026 outfield????
  8. I think we can do better than a .738 OPS
  9. Is Teoscar Hernandez an elite hitter?
  10. I think the ideal of trading an OF for an IF is dead. That was totally beginning of the offseason
  11. 4 outfielders can only get at bats for 3 players, unless you DH one....in which case you already HAVE A DH. You still need an IF. The Theory in trading an outfielder was you had 4, instead of one riding the bench half the time you cash your chips in and get an IF. It's almost like Moving Duran to 2B without actually moving Duran to 2B. YOu're totally ok with moving an outfielder on our team to 2B BUT NOT OK with trading one for a better IF? and it didn't have to be Duran, could have been Rafaela or Abreu.
  12. Rafaela losses almost all his value by switching to 2B. It seems we want every solution on earth other than just going out and getting a 2B or 3B???
  13. we literally have like 3 DH's on the team. We need a 3B and or a 2B.
  14. I mean one way of looking at it is by position. LF - Duran same as last year CF- Rafaela same as last year RF - Anthony a full year out of him this should be a plus SS - Story same as last year 1B - Contreras this should be an improvement C Narvaez/Wong should be about the same as last year. DH - will likely be a big downgrade, but it has the capacity to be better in 2026 than it was for the second half of last year. The fall off could come from what we do at 3B/2B. Some combination of Mayer/Romy could actually end up being a plus at one of those positions. Which leaves the other to who? David Hamilton? The reality is, this team is one good IF move away from being very very very good.
  15. Well I don't agree with that at all. 🤣
  16. Me and you are completely on the same page with this
  17. I would, Shaw has a lot more team control left, is a plus defender and I think he’s going to be a plus bat too. Sox were in on Shaw in the draft and he was take one pick before them. Thats ok, Kyle Teel did lead to Crochet the second deal hell no. I’m not giving up that much just to get Masa off the roster. He has two years left just DFA him
  18. It's far less likely youre' going to agree on trade values when you're swimming in a smaller pool.
  19. I think the concept of trading Duran for IF seems less logical now. Most teams that are looking to buy MLB ready players are less willing to give up MLB players. They are in win now mode and want to spend prospects. It always made more sense to trade one of the 4 outfielders, and then separately trade for IF. I think the later is still likely, but the former not so much so. I think they're going to ride with Yoshida on the bench and the 4 OFers playing and DHing. Which in the absence of a big bat addition in the infield is likely needed for the lineup.
  20. Either Cora is lying or you’re missing something. Devers explicitly said the organization talked to him about it, he didn’t say who. but you really think the owner of the team is going to fly into town during an away series because a player switching positions has become such a massive issue, AND CORA WAS there and they didn’t have a conversation? You really think Cora was sitting in on that meeting and was like “oh wow we want to move Devers to 1B” the owner flew into town because it was such a massive ordeal and his own manager didn’t talk to Devers about it????? come on Red. There’s no permutation of this where that conversation is as not had.
  21. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/45074054/red-sox-owner-john-henry-meets-rafael-devers-remarks dude….its common f***ing sense. Come on man
  22. Wait hold on, so you seriously believe Cora had zero conversations with Raffy, and John Henry flew out to meet with him personally and that was the first of it? you serious believe that? Can’t see between the tea leaves at all here???
  23. Oh yeah my bad, but you know what I mean. Agree or disagree he was injured and out for the season, that’s what matters here
  24. So if Raffy wasn’t asked to move to 1B then he was traded because he was mean to reporters?
