  1. Reading is hard, we get it
  2. Sometimes, people understand a “scenario” can be In relation to a comment someone else made. Sometimes, although I suppose reading comprehension is too much to ask. As I’ve said many times in the last few weeks, right now this team should be a buyer.
  3. Leave it to a Donny downer to redefine a Donny downer and reject what they’re. I’m sure the whore would tell you she’s a sex therapist. Advocating a sell off when a team has a losing record and is in last place is just realism. It’s a far cry from taking the negative view on seemingly every game and every transaction that happens.
  4. Agreed, but not my point here. You neither I don’t know what the Sox internal evaluations of said pitchers were. You don’t just spend money to spend money. It can both be true that that statement is accurate and Henry has gone soft and is unwilling to open up the purse.
  5. But yes let’s sell everyone. I wonder if that includes Houck, Wong, Duran, and Abreu?
  6. Some people just don’t think before they post. Or at all. The concept behind keeping salary is to get a better prospect in return. Which if it’s one year. WTF wouldn’t you do that? O’Neill, Pivetta, Jansen, Martin. Imagine a contender comes to you, wants one of those guys, but to stay under budget they want you to kick in the money and in return they offer you a better prospect. If you’re already under the luxury tax, and you’re sellers giving up on the season, why wouldn’t you maximize your return. Every GM from Bloom to DD would in that scenario.
  7. Well that’s precisely my point. I think you need to evaluate players and have convictions and stick to them. Maybe you like Yama and go over the cap for him but you miss out. You don’t just go over and sign Snell because you had the money to do so if you don’t like him long term. Was pitching a need? Yes, but I think you blame the strategy over a long term horizon than one given offseason. Pitching was a need not because they didn’t invest this past offseason but rather because of the 6 years of decision making and roster construction leading up. If you look to over correct in one offseason by just throwing money around you could dig a hole!!!! Think of it this way. How excited would some be if the Sox signed both Snell and Montgomery back in March? Sure, there’d be some detractors, and those complaining about the money but nobody would think the rotation wouldn’t be improved. But we’d be so much worse off right now, and way over the cap.
  8. I thought they would go over too, and I expect them too given the track record, market, and fan base. But I don think they should go over just foe the sake of going over; that’s how you get into trouble long term. I can believe in that and still be unhappy with the total body of work the last 5 years.
  9. I don’t disagree. But if you figure a reset every 2-3 years it makes sense to leave some wiggle room. You can’t 100% predict your payroll on day one. Injuries, a larger than expected call up of Milb players can increase payroll. And it’s also useful to have 8-10 million in cap space to play around with at the trade deadline.
  10. Yes a lot of the booing is well deserved I don’t refute the healthy dose of realistic fan dissent. But it’s the negative Nancie’s, the Donny downers, the ones who always have something to complain about, but will seemingly crawl under a rock during a win streak. I get it, unconditional fandom is be equally annoying to them. It’s their insatiable lust for the game that’s insufferable. These are the guys who could still complain, and DID complain during the runs in 2013 and 2018 around here too. When the team won 100 games they still sat in their armchairs and critique everything. When we had guys like Mookie Betts, and Xander Bogaerts, they still complained about every little thing, every strike out, every GIDP, every pitching change that didn’t result in a 1-2-3 inning was instantaneously the wrong move. They’re literally, mentally incapable of joy. It’s impossible for them. Their power only grows with every loss, and slowly shrivels up with every loss.
  11. With three losses in a row the boo birds will be out in full force. This is what gets them all hot and bothered.
  12. Thanks a lot MVP!!!!!
  13. How can this announcer say that he thinks Machado didn’t hurt Pedey on purpose. Manny is known for being the dirtiest player in the game. He’s take out more people with slides and stepped on more first baseman’s legs than anyone in the league right now
  14. No one is paying for a 1/3 year rental with a top 40 prospect. That rarely happens.
  15. That’s what happens with zero moderation. There are other Sox chat forums out there where that type of conversation is kept in check and threads stay on subject. Not saying one is better than the other, just what is.
  16. The Sox have plenty to offer other than their “3 prized prospects” who shouldn’t even be in the conversation for a deadline rental anyways.
  17. Giolito is also more than 5 years younger than Sale. One could be forgiven for thinking he had more of a chance of returning to form. Given Baileys track record, I’m curious what he can do with Lucas next year.
  18. I think most of us thought that was the plan. The lowest common denominator lately is that Henry sucks
  19. I’m not painting you in this corner. I also would have been ok keeping Sale and banking on him staying healthy, I would have preferes it but I understood the rationale behind the trade. With Story, given the hypothetical we all know how the narrative around here goes Actually, I’d say Yoshida would be a better example. If the Sox traded him and his bat was awesome for two years some of the people that bashed him and wanted his contract dumped would be the same ones saying the Sox should never have traded him.
  20. True, but Sale is 35, a pitcher, and has an extensive injury history. The risk of injury for him is much higher than average.
  21. Well we know WHO would say they called Trevor a Bastion of health retroactively
  22. Which also illustrates the fact that 2024 isn’t over. Still plenty of time for Sale to get hurt. Also, given how little he has pitched over the last few years due to injuries one has to wonder how many miles he can put on that arm in a single season before it blows up again. Of course, if he makes it through this year and has a full healthy offseason one might feel more optimistic about his 2025
  23. I also have higher expectations of the Sox competing in 2025
  24. You can kind of make the argument that a blown save is a team stat
  25. Wouldn’t Story be the new Sale? If Sale can do it, so can Story. Story can come back and play like an All Star next year. Who complains?????
