  1. How many times have we told you. No fun
  2. No, the draft. Essentially impossible. I should have switched my sentences, and that hypothetical makes more sense Sox should buy
  3. Probably another week until the hot stove really lights up, but we are getting close. I expect to start seeing some activity after the all star game. Maybe one day teams can trade draft picks, wouldn't mind seeing the Sox bow out of this one. Hey, we get a draft coming up soon too.
  4. Weird thing about DeJong is he has really struggled against LHP this year, reverse splits are weird. That could easily reverse the rest of the way, or if he's really going to struggle vs. LHP then put Rafaela at SS for a start or two a week against a lefty and load the outfield up with O'Neill and Refsnyder at the corners. Or just sit Ceddanne and play Hamilton there, I'm not in love with Hamilton at SS but he's fine there for a game here and there.
  5. Duffy was also old for a junior, he was effectively a senior age wise.
  6. Well they did draft him as a 21 year old....about a whole year ago. Early is a nice prospect, high floor but not sure there's much of an MLB future there. Kind of the Sox mo with pitching in recent years, I'd expect that profile with a lot of these "senior signs" but Early got slot last year.
  7. People forget that there’s two sides to every trade. We don’t know what Chicago wants, or who they prefer, and what their scouts are telling them about said players. They may prefer young talent proven at the MLB level, and if they do, the team that offers them their version of Jarren Duran will get Crochet, even if a lot of teams think Anthony will be better. FWIW, BTV accepted my proposal of Mayer/Cespedes/Bastardo for Crochet.
  8. Anyone is tradeable for the right price, I’m just getting the ball rolling with some proposals. You guys are welcome to add your own trade proposals. I’d prefer a rental over trading Mayer. But if you want a pitcher with multiple years of control who has TOTR potential, the price starts with Mayer or Anthony.
  9. Casas will be fine, his injury is muscular. I’ve strained an oblique before myself when I used to box. Tons of core strength work to come back, probably very good for him. I still wouldn’t mind a RHH option at 1B who can slide into a DH role and split time elsewhere at the corners when Casas is back. Mayer isn’t an option in 2024 in my opinion. A guy up the middle who can hit and defend is the best option to upgrade the lineup.
  10. I’m confused, I’m not focused on Story, he’s not here for 2024 and I’m trying to add up the middle talent, not rely on Story. I’d be open to 1B upgrade, but as time goes on and Casas gets closer to a return in becomes more pointless. I’d look to upgrade up the middle to strengthen the defense and also provide the upside in the lineup as well.
  11. I thought you were saying that prospect package wouldn’t bring you back anything more than a marginal upgrade at best.
  12. Want to go big? Marcelo Mayer/Yoenis Cespedes/Angel Bastardo for Garrett Crochet.
  13. Better keep those duck boats hot!!!!
  14. Yup 100% 162 games of highs and lows. Right now this team is trending up, at the very least my hopes are trending that way as well.
  15. Story is out for the year, if you could find a RHB that can play up the middle and is a rental, why shouldn't we consider it?
  16. Obviouslyl I'm focused on adding a RHH middle infielder. After that we almost definitely need some pitching, I know there's some talk of buying and selling at the same time, I'd rather trade Martin than Jansen, but I'd certianly look at add a starter. If this team is playing in October, they could really use another starter.
  17. Brandon Walter/Juan Chicon for Paul DeJong also is an accepted deal. Nick Sogard for Brandon Drury + $2 million cash
  18. BTV Accepts this trade. Dansby Swanson +$20 million for Masataka Yoshida/Nick Yorke
  19. A baseball season is a marathon not a sprint. A month ago everyone would have said we are playing for the 3rd wildcard spot and shoudn't even be concerned with catching the Yankees. Well, if we were to sweep them we'd be only 2.5 games behind them. I think that will be hard, and will be very excited to take 2 out of 3. But this is what it's all about.....chipping away.
  20. Theres' so much that has to happen for that to work. A lot of people view Hamilton as a utility infielder/speedbench bat, Medidroth is a middling prospect with minor league production but serious questions about having the ability to impact the baseball at the MLB level. That's not worthless, but just think if you were getting those two guys in return what you'd be willing to give up? Now, said team has to believe in the upside of those guys, and have an extra 40 man spot available to carry an extra guy who will have to be carried on a 40 man. The odds of those stars aligning are slim. Hypothetically Hamilton + Yorke gets you Tristan Casas. I would never make that trade. Now, if we are talking about a rental, that's a different story, but I wonder if a prospect that offers the flexibility of not needing to be added to the 40 man this offseason as being more valuable to a team. POSSIBLY, again stars must always align. For example. I think Hamilton/Romero might actually be more enticing, yes Romero isn't ranked as high but a team has the luxury of being able to keep him off the 40 man, develop him and see if he can become what comes along with a first round draft pick shine.
  21. A second round pick will always be better than a 4th round pick. However in this particular instance, purely because of chance, it might have worked out in our favor as Campbell is now a top 100 prospect.
  22. It just feels like a lot of money for a bullpen arm, but if the majority of your bullpen is comprised of cost controlled arms then it makes ense to build a bullpen that way. That's sort of exactly the way the Sox have it right now.
  23. So really.........The Red Sox were just getting a leg up on everyone else with all the injuries the last few years.
  24. I looked it up, it's shoulder injuries for starting pitchers. Elbows seem to be equal opportunity blow outs. Or at least according to some sources, admittedly I haven't read them myself.
  25. I remember posters in here arguing about pitchers being injured more as starters. I also remember shortly after listening to a soxprospects.com podcast where they were talking about a study into this. I should probably look this up to verify that I'm not mixing it up and it's the other way around but I believe there's no relationship between starting and relieving for elbow injuries BUT starting pitchers tend to sustain a much greater number of shoulder injuries than relief pitchers. I think Tanners low pitch counts will allow him to pitch deeper in the season BUT he's at his career high right now. You can't just shake that off, and if this team does make it into the playoffs that will be even more stress on his elbow. Which seemingly is fine.....but we should hope it stays that way. I don't know how you can even think about doing this from a roster construction point of view, but from a physiological point of view, it almost makes sense to shut down every pitcher for 2 weeks in the middle of every season. You won't see that, but in a hypothetical alternate universe I bet that reduces a lot of elbow injuries.
