  1. Really starting to look like one of Rainer/Griffin/Yesavage will be there for 12 unless they go 9-10-11 Trey Yesavage would make the fans happy, as he is a pitcher. Those were my top 3 preferences going into today
  2. Is that really the issue? Sox offer guys like Mayer for pitching and teams don’t want him? Or is it the Sox don’t want to swing a trade? I wouldn’t fret so much about it if the Sox show they can develop a starter
  3. Hard rumors that LAA going with more, and if doesn’t go there I think Washington takes him. So it doesn’t matter anyways
  4. The fact that they didn’t do something doesn’t mean they can’t. Sox could have signed Ohtani, or Max Scherzer once upon a time. With that said. Yesavage would be a fine pick
  5. Sox draft pick coming up in apx. 30 minutes
  6. Tennessee’s 2nd baseman Christian Moore has been linked and mocked to Boston at 12 as much as anyone. He might be the best offensive player in this draft. He was arguably the best NCAA hitter and did it on the big stage leading Tennessee to a World Series. Might be able to play CF as well. However the rumors today are Washington might have a deal with him at #10
  7. I bet Jordan Montgomery could be had for no prospects
  8. Maybe I heard it wrong but I thought on the last podcast Hatfield described it as Mayer is probably fine at SS, and may have to move off by the time he’s no longer under team control. Those are the facts, and they’re indisputable….i think.
  9. How many times a day do you guys think Stork talks to himself in the mirror and says “those are the facts and the facts are indisputable”?
  10. Raffy hasn't been as bad at 3B this year either, certainly not GG caliber but he's been fine, I think he looks better there too when a guy who can really man SS is playing next to him.
  11. We have one of the worse ss/2nd defensive alignments in all of baseball and a glaring shortage of RHB, I'd add a RHH SS as my Priority #2 after pitching. Pitching is certainly priority #1
  12. If you want to talk about 2-way players I'd rather see a position/pitcher player taken. Would really like to see more of that. I understand Ohtani is a unicorn but they don't all have to be Ohtani, imagine how much more valuable a guy like Rob Refsnyder would be if he also could come out and pitch the 7th for you. I also like the ideal of guys being able to move back and forth between two positions E.G. CF/SS C/2B etc etc. I think Griffin can be developed as a SS and a Cfer. His ceiling could be Rafaela with a better hit tool.
  13. Sure, if he falls to 50, but I wouldn't want to take him at 12.
  14. I kind of want it to be a short stop just to see Sox nation go crazy. Moore has been mocked to them a LOT, but he's a second baseman. There's been some talk of teams going pitching in the top ten and one of the top position players falling to the Sox, particularly one Konnor Griffin. I think Nick Kurtz could fall to the Sox as well, he may be Tristan Casas 2.0 For those obsessed with the Sox having to take a pitcher with their first pick I certianly would be excited about a Trey Yesavage. Wish he had a different first name, but at least he's a college pitcher.
  15. Ok, sure. Still doesn't mean his value is much higher now than it was before this season.
  16. The top of this draft this year is loaded with college bats. I'd take a college bat over a HS arm all day long, at least in the first round......after the first round I flip. I can see them going position player at 12, and then drafting more pitching than typical the rest of the way.
  17. Mayer may need to move off of position, but he's probably going to be good at short stop for the front half of his career. Probably right around the time Casas goes to free agency, you can slide Mayer over to 3B, Devers to 1B and call up the 2024 draftee to play SS.
  18. Hindsight is always 20/20 but if we traded Duran during this past offseason we may be seriously regretting right now. He probably wouldn't command the type of return a guy who is on pace for an 8 FWar season would. Which I suppose, from a certain perspective means that you trade him this offseason to maximize his trade value. If one wanted to trade him, which I do not.
  19. http://news.soxprospects.com/2024/07/2024draftpreview.html We got a draft comin up this weekend. Here are some names to look out for
  20. I meant Rafaela, I corrected myself.
  21. Oh he meant Refysnder.....what MVP said.
  22. CF. Easy.
  23. Yorke was bad for two straight years and now people want to add him to the 40 and bring him up for a playoff run after a good month.
  24. Unless we want to start talking about Crochet
  25. 1-7 ain’t getting traded. 1-5 I don’t see and Perales/Cespedes are hurt. But 8-20 and beyond, they can have a field day and go shopping at the pitcher store and the hitter store.
