  1. we were all duped in our own ways.
  2. It's my scarlet letter, I must wear it as a constant reminder. Never again.
  3. Yeah, I have you read my quoted tagline? I could delete it, but I strive for authenticity damnit!!!!
  4. Same, I always wanted the Sox to go out and get an ace and if Sale was healthy then BOOM you gotta playoff caliber 1-2 punch. I also didn't hate the Giolito signing, it sucks that he got injured but I also assumed (foolishly in hindsight) the Sox were going to go out and sign another ACE. The pitching has certianly been much better than anticipated this year but another ace at the top with Houck would be playoff worthy, assuming Houck doesn't slow down. Giving his innings that does make one wonder but one interesting fact is despite Tanners innings total he's doing it throwing less pitches. If you can get threw 7 innings throwing 10-15 pitches less, that's going to create a lot less stress on the arm.
  5. Agreed, which in hindsight no one should have been surprised. The Kluber signing was a nice reasonable risk to take if building the back of your rotation, but the Sox seemingly were banking on him returning to Cy-Young form. Living on a prayer hasn't worked the last 4 years.
  6. I was hopeful for Chris Sale, and still thought he could be good when healthy, but I'll admit I lost faith in his ability to stay healthy. He hadn't had a full clean bill of health in 4.5 years and was coming into his 35 season this year. It's not too unreasonable to assume the guy who is 35 and hasn't really been healthy during his enitre 30's can't come back and pitch like he did in his 20's. To date this year......he is proving us wrong. What he is doing, isn't all too different than hypothetically Corey Kluber coming in during the 2023 season and pitching very well for us. Albeit he was 37 not 35 but some some food for thought.
  7. Not discrediting what you read, but if someone is performing surgery that a kid doesn't require they should be losing their medical license and should be sued for malpractice. From my understanding, the surgery itself doesn't make someone strogner and add velocity but rather the extensive training they undertake to recover from the surgery often adds velocity to a lot of guys.
  8. With what some would describe as the "deepest farm system in baseball" you would think we could swing a few trades for rentals that strengthen the 2014 team without mortgaging the future at all.
  9. Fangraphs released their top 47 Sox prospects. An excerpt from the article. "This is perhaps the deepest system in all of baseball, and one of the best, right up there with the Dodgers, Cubs and Orioles in terms of the number of 40+ FV or better prospects." Boston Red Sox Top 47 Prospects | FanGraphs Baseball
  10. So Trevor Story is the next Chris Sale right? So lets hope we keep him and he comes back healthy next year and plays like it's 2019
  11. I'm not sure if the percentage of ownership matters, Lebron has a minority stake. I saw a meme yesterday pertaining to John Henry buying the Celtics. Tatum in a Lakers Jersey and Brown in a Hawks Jersey the next day. I do get nervous about the timing and who may buy them. With Tatums new deal in 2025/2026 the Celtics will have a tax bill over 200 million. If someone cheap buys this team and they have even a slight drop off next season then the wrong owner could be inclined to start selling off assets to reduce that tax hit.
  12. Gio pitched almost 5 times the amount of innings as Sale the last few years. If his problems were more mental than physical, heck even if they were physical the staff may have seen a mechanical adjustment needed to be made to get him right. I can see their mindset for making the trade. It just looks really bad now that Sale is good and Gio is hurt. If Gio was healthy and pitching like crap, I'd have a much easier time bashing the trade.
  13. FSG to buy the Boston Celtics. Will mandate Brad Stevens to trade Jayson Tatum.
  14. A big RHB in the middle of the lineup would certainly help this team. That plus another starter could put this team over the team this year going down the stretch. Especially if you have Casas coming back and not out.
  15. I put in Mayer/Anthony/Casas for Vlad into BTV for hahaha's and my computer actually started laughing at me. I kid, I actually think this is a good case for why BTV isn't reliable. They seem to be undervaluing Vlad. According to them Boston should not only reject Casas for Vlad straight up (which I would) but Toronto has to add significant value to make it work.
  16. Last 3 years Casas OPS .846 Guerrero Jr. .812 I'd keep Casas and two top prospects.
  17. Draft picks are not tradeable.
  18. The problem with this argument is you can attribute that money to anything. Maybe they used that money saved to extend Bello, or Rafaela? If it was done last year we could of said the money was used to sign Yoshida OR Turner or Jansen. I think it should be good enough just to say that Giolito has turned out to be a bad signing.
  19. Giolito's velocity went up at the end of last year. End of argument, anyone implying he blew his elbow out and pitched worse all while magically somehow pitching faster is just not facing the facts of the matter.
  20. As someone who went thru a divorce I can personally attest to how much of an effect it can have on a man. How anyone can discount that? I just don't know. It's also well known that every single mlb deal that ever happens requires a physical. Giolito has had an elbow injury that has been pre-existing dating back to HS, if there was a change in there they would have seen it. If he blew his elbow out we would have known about it earlier than March of 2024. THere's no way he tore that thing and pitched/worked out on it for the next 6-7 months. You'd expect a guy who is a gym rat to have some basic knowledge of human physiology and be able to understand that......but here we are. Also, if Giolito had torn his elbow in 2023 and that is what caused his 2nd half regression there would be a drop in his velocity. HIS VELOCITY ACTUALLY WENT UP. The facts support the exact opposite of what some posters are implying. Pitchers get injured, it happens today more than any other day. When one is a donny downer, they tend to find the alternative facts they need to support their theories to critisize the people they want.
  21. WINckowski with the nice start today. Had him pegged as a bullpen arm, seems stretching him out in AAA may pay dividends
  22. That would make more sense. I’m not sure that’s the same reset, besides some young guys worth being part of a core I guess you could build a package around Yoshida/Devers.
  23. Please, this is the second time you’ve done this. Red will spend all day attacking multiple posters and then you come in and take his side. I don’t care that you think I’m a jerk, but it’s laughable that you can make that statement after hearing him go at everyone all morning.
  24. Anytime there’s a tit for tat and two people go at it and someone comes in and calls just on poster an ******* all that proves is that you agree with that person. Gale has done this time and time again with Red.
  25. Oh please, red talks down to more people in here than anyone else. Get off his junk
