  1. I mean.....haven't we all changed our tune with this team???
  2. I dunno, I'd rather have $75 million on the IL than $237 million on the IL. Also, seeing how he has -.1 WAR this year and Story has 0 War, Story has actually contributed more to the Sox.
  3. I'm also not so certain Cason will be developed as a pitcher only, I know his ceiling is seen higher as a pitcher than as a hitter but the Sox announced him as a two way player so I'm not sold on him only pithing just yet.
  4. I suspect some underslot deals, but I expect the underslot deals to be minimal compared to all other Sox drafts. For the first time in the bonus pool cap era the Sox signed not ONE college senior. This also means, we probably won't get any big bonus babies past round 10 today. I would really like to see the Sox identify some young highschool talent that maybe takes the money and goes pro, guys who will sign in the 200-300K range. Sure, these guys have a very low chance of panning out but in a draft that was considered weak I'd rather bank on that upside rather than just sign a bunch of college seniors with no real upside. I get they have to fill out minor league rosters as well, and you still want good guys on those teams. Reality is most of these guys will never make it to the bigs, but you want good dudes playing the Marcelo Mayers of the world and not D-bags. The little things matter.
  5. First time in the bonus pool era the Sox did NOT draft a college senior either.
  6. Dude is such a stud he’s going to get ranked twice
  7. 4 of the 7 draftees have been pitchers so far.
  8. Yup, which is why you're right and I'am wrong. TODAY But in two weeks from now? We shall see. I'll say this, to reiterate my point from before that I think are debate here highlights beautifully....this is exactly why teams don't sell early, and wait until up at the deadline.
  9. I don't know either, and I can't think of a player drafted ever being a PTBNL, but then again I don't follow other teams prospects that get traded that much AND you'd think a player just drafted is going to hold a lot more value to the drafting team. Not really the kind of guy you trade.
  10. Sometimes I try to think of things worked out differently. For example, Jeter Downs at SS/2B and a premium bat would look pretty damn good right now. Bloom at least had the right ideal in mind, it just didn’t work out. What does this team need the most right now? A starting pitcher and RHH bat up the middle. What if Grissom was healthy and playing like a lot of the experts thought he could? And what if Gio was healthy and pitching like a middle of the rotation starter? This doesn’t make it a good trade or justify it in anyway. And many years of team control allow the capacity for it to work out but right now you certainly have to put it in the loss column for Breslow. Point is, you can see the line of thinking in why those moves were made.
  11. By this logic most teams are in it and most teams will be buyers or at least not sellers. I’m not saying you’re wrong and I am right, but if you have the 8th worse record in baseball, then unless things turn around in the next two weeks you have to at least consider selling. Regardless, this conversation highlights a very important point. This is EXACTLY why trade deadline deals typically happen closer to the deadline. Most teams in Texas like territory are still trying to figure out if they’re buyers or sellers. People often are critical of trades not being swung in June, the first week of July or sooner. Well this is why…….teams that are sellers aren’t sellers yet.
  12. I was being sarcastic, but while we are on the topic could a draft pick hypothetically be a PTBNL?
  13. Maybe, maybe not.
  14. The Rangers have the 8th worse record in baseball, if they're not sellers then there aren't too many teams selling, also a lot can change in 2 weeks. If the Sox lose 12 in a row they probably aren't buying anymore.
  15. No, but if they're sellers Eovaldi is clearly a trade chip.
  16. Elmer Rodriguez-Cruz Enderson Lira Luis Guerrero For Nathan Eovaldi
  17. They drafted a pitcher at 50. Maybe they can trade him for a hitter.
  18. Yeah but you’re equating him to MLBers who are expected to contribute. It’s his job to develop, he’s about 3 years away from contributing to the majors in a meaningful way
  19. The board up to 50 is absolutely loaded with HS pitching and SS. Haha. What will Breslow do?
  20. He played some short stop in highschool haha
  21. Spoiler alert, broke bones heal, and draftees don’t go straight to MLB
  22. Some concerns of his bat from the right side haha. Might just be another LHH
  23. It’s an outfielder haha. The FG chat had spoilers 2-3 picks ahead and got every one right until the Boston pick. First false rumor of the day, originally they had Cam Smith going to Boston
  24. I realize that but 8 minutes ago he was
  25. As long as it’s not a highschool pitcher I like Yesavage but I want Rainer. Montgomery on the board still but I don’t like his swing and miss.
