  1. Thanks, Red. I make a simple statement. And he posts a list two feet long. Oofah.
  2. Everyone with a brain knows that practice is important. I swear to God, people on here will debate anything.
  3. I really have to stop responding. It is futile. The drama is all in your mind. That's how you are. And that's okay. I try to avoid people who always act on emotion. Common sense and logic is always better. Jansen and Kimbrel are among the all-time best closers. The Sox are/were fortunate to have them. That should not be in dispute. If it makes you nervous watching them, then don't watch.
  4. I saw the game, Max. I don't need a recap. As I have said many times, closing ain't easy. The other team is getting paid also. It was exciting baseball. But I am not the nervous type. That is not good for one's health. I just try to enjoy the competition.
  5. My feeling is that more infield practice would be beneficial. But I really don't know how much they practice right now. My guess is that it is not enough.
  6. How is it absurd ? I am giving you stats from lengthy careers. You are basing your opinion on small snippets . I could do that with anything . Jansen and Kimbrel are definitely on the back nine of their careers. But they still mostly get the job done. Meanwhile, we see blown saves all around baseball every night. Today, Cleveland blew a save against the Yanks , then the Yanks followed suit and lost. You should be happy to have Kenley closing games.
  7. You can improve at most things with practice. Fielding is no exception. To discount the importance of practice is wrong.
  8. Between Jansen and Kimbrel , they have 844 career saves. Jansen career ERA 2.5 . Kimbrel - 2.4. Both have career WHIPs of under one. They are two of the best of all time. The drama is mostly in your head.
  9. The crowd looked considerably smaller than the announced attendance. Maybe a lot of ticket holders were no shows ?
  10. Yankees look like a juggernaut if they can stay healthy. But that is a very big IF.
  11. I think we sometimes overrate the importance of the manager. I think Cora is a decent manager . When he has a great team that stays pretty healthy ( 2018 ) , he is very successful. When he loses key players from the roster and injuries happen, he is not so successful. And when the team is full of holes, he is in trouble. Most managers are in that same situation.
  12. Trading Jansen, Martin and O'Neill now would be throwing in the towel on April 13. Are you all sure that is what you want to do ?
  13. He left the building.
  14. Its a Story untold.
  15. Pitching, hitting, defense and base running are all a part of the game. The object is simply to score more runs than the opponent any way you can. If you have all four of those parts working well, you have a very good team. When none of them are working , you have a big problem.
  16. It seems like infield practice is a relic of a bygone era.
  17. Ladies and Gentlemen, this is your main event of the evening. Introducing in the Red corner, hailing from various places around the globe, but now making their home in Boston Mass, wearing the Red Sox, with a record of seven wins, four big wins coming by way of knockout, and just six losses, the former champions of the world, the Boston Red Sox.
  18. Bobby is like Mighty Mouse. " Here I come to save the day. You know that Bobby D. is on the way. "
  19. How do you like baseball life, Bobby ? Bobby D. " It has its ups and downs. ". Bobby " The Elevator " Dalbec.
  20. Captain, I think if we just swap out the blue deck chair for the red one, we will avoid hitting that iceberg.
  21. It might be a good idea to take a look at the pitchers who have been able to stay relatively healthy in their careers. What is it that they do or don't do ? Is it genetics, training and conditioning, delivery of the pitches , luck or something else ? (And I don't think we should rule out the pitch clock being a factor in the injuries just because we like a shorter game. I think that rule change should be revisited.)
  22. I'm just trying to inject some common sense into this. I am not some Pollyanna when it comes to the Red Sox. I see the problems. I thought it was a mistake to fire Dombrowski and bring in Bloom. I thought it was another mistake to systematically dismantle the great 2018 team and embark on a rebuild. I said so at the time. And the results speak for themselves. It has not been good to put it mildly. But I do think that Breslow deserves a chance to show what he can do . And I do see some bright spots. Dropping three games to a team as good as the Orioles is not reason for despair. In my opinion, there will be better days ahead. ( I won't say " be happy " because that seems to generate a bad reaction. ) So, have a nice day.
  23. I don't consider myself to be ignorant. I think I am more grounded in reality and pragmatic than most.
  24. You can be happy or you can be miserable . It's up to you. The Sox got swept by the Orioles. Honestly, it would not be a big surprise if the O's went to the World Series. But the Sox are still 7-6. Very few of you expected better, so why the disappointment ? Obviously, it is easier to beat the weaker teams than it is to beat the top tier clubs. The good news is that there is no shortage of weaker teams to beat. And much of the ups and downs of a season are schedule related. Let things play out a little bit. Hold off on the gloom and doom. Be happy.
