    Folks, it's not the end of the world. The Orioles are a really good team. A team without any glaring weaknesses. And, apparently, a very good late inning team, if that's a thing. Now, the Angels come to town. They should be just what the doctor ordered to get the Sox back on track and improve the ever changing mood on this forum. Anyway, it's a long season. You can't live or die with every early season series.

    It seems like an almost daily occurrence that a pitcher goes on the I.L. A lot of pitchers are blaming the pitch clock and the sticky stuff ban. The fans tend to like the pitch clock and the quicker pace of the game, so they will argue that the pitch clock is not the problem. They blame velocity, Little League, sweepers, spin and so on. But I think both sides will agree that it is a problem that needs to be looked into.

    There are usually some ebbs and flows to a baseball season. It is way too early in the season for all of the mood swings. Be patient. The Sox just dropped two games to a team that is considered to be one of the best. It's not a disaster. Overall, the Sox look to be a better team than most people expected. Be happy.

    The Orioles have called up Jackson Holliday for his MLB debut. The son of former MLB All Star Matt Holliday , Jackson is generally considered to be the number one prospect in baseball.

    Story is that guy in the shop who is well liked and does a pretty good job when he actually comes to work , which is not very often.

    Meanwhile, pitchers continue to drop like flies. Bieber getting Tommy John. Strider getting MRI on right elbow.

    Kenley Jansen has 423 saves. A career ERA of 2.51 . And a WHIP of less than 1.00. One of the all time best closers. But Sox fans will be Sox fans.

    Centerfielders are expected to be good to very good to great defenders. That's why they are out there. Who is the best ? Take your pick. With the Red Sox, JBJ is my pick.

    Comparing athletes from different eras is a very iffy task. There are too many variables and changes , both pro and con. But we can all have our own opinions.

    I saw Jimmy Piersall play many times. He was an excellent center fielder and an interesting guy. JBJ is the best Sox defensive center fielder I have seen.

    Have to give some credit to Devers for his play on the sac bunt in the 10th. If he throws that ball away, the game is over.

    It should be noted that whatever Dombrowski did or didn't do with the farm , he did while winning the A.L. East three consecutive years, something that has not been done before or since. A combination of winning now while also adding some nice prospects with the available draft picks.

    Bello, Houck, Crawford , Casas, Duran and Rafaela are all former Dombrowski selections and products of his " decimated " farm.

    There is a lot of randomness in baseball. Bloop hits and line drive outs are a part of it. But is good for your closer to be a strike out pitcher. Pretty sure the Sox win that game if Jansen is out there.

    It goes without saying, but the first game of the season ( win or lose ) always seems more important than it really is .

    I have no proof of that , but it's a big country. Pretty sure there are a few who think so. It's good that we both made it through another winter anyway.
