  1. It was clear that Henry was becoming increasingly concerned about the payroll. But did he order Bloom to trade Mookie ? Maybe, maybe not. That is where the theories come in. All we know for sure is that Bloom pulled the trigger on the trade.
  2. Mookie would make any team better. We don't know how much better, but certainly they would be better with Mookie. There should not be any doubt about that.
  3. Not a theory. He actually did it.
  4. In his day, the late Andre the Giant would drink Boggs under the table.
  5. Everyone can have their own theory about the Betts trade. And they can repeat it again and again until they are sure it is true. But there is just one thing we know for certain. Chaim Bloom, in one of his initial moves, traded Mookie to the Dodgers. That will be Bloom's legacy and it will live in infamy in Red Sox history.
  6. No problem. Just one game. I still have no doubt about this prediction.
  7. I don't think there is much to worry about with the Celtics. They are clearly the best team in the NBA. It's just a matter of making room for another banner.
  8. Of course the Yankees will try to extend Soto. Why wouldn't they ? It's just a matter of how much they are willing to spend. And who, if any, are willing to outbid them. In any case, I do not see them trading Rodon for Yoshida.
  9. No doubt the Yankees have their eye on the brass ring . I don't think they would give up a front line pitcher for a guy who would probably ride their bench.
  10. I have to say that it is a real treat watching Juan Soto play. He is like a little kid out there, smiling, laughing and having fun every minute. Not to mention the enormous talent.
  11. In general, the Sox are beating the bad teams and losing to the good teams. They are stuck in the mediocre middle. I do see some potential for improvement, but it gets a little tiresome hearing how things look better next year. Especially when you hear that year after year.
  12. You can't put it all on Devers. It's a team sport. When one guy is struggling (and it happens to everyone) the others have to step up and do their part. Right now the Sox are getting very little from the bottom half of the order.
  13. Typical nonsensical reply from you. It really does not merit a response. The All Star Game was a big event. It no longer is. Fans can still enjoy watching it . But the game has absolutely lost the appeal it once had. That really is not debatable.
  14. You are dead wrong. The American League president wanted very much to win the game. That was the reason. It was not about viewership or revenue.
  15. It didn't count in the standings or pennant races , if that is what you are saying. But it mattered much more to the players and to the fans than it does today. If you can't see that, then I don't know what else to tell you.
  16. Matt Chapman is doing a great job for the Giants. He is batting .204 , with a .595 OPS. However, he has also chipped in with six errors at third base so far this year. Sox sure missed the boat with this guy.
  17. Years ago the All Star Game was a big event. There was always a debate about which league was better. National League fans took pride in their winning streak. There were National League players and American League players. Free agency, interleague trades and interleague play changed all that. And the All Star game became less interesting. Today it is just a showcase for the top players in the game.
  18. That is a very comprehensive recap. I believe the " Express written consent " of MLB to required to post that.
  19. There should not be three wild cards. It is just a gimmick that is used to increase revenue. The third place team in a five team division does not deserve another bite of the apple, so to speak. It cheapens the regular season. But since it is a reality, a team that is in the running should make every attempt to go for it. Surely we all know that wild card teams do get hot and/or lucky and go on to win it all.
  20. Another bump. Looks pretty accurate.
  21. Now, I don't like to brag , but this looks like a match with the official Standings of the Clubs as of today, May 6. The A.L.East Exacta. I am not the least bit shocked or amazed at how the season has gone so far.
  22. Playoff Stanley Cup hockey is definitely not for the nervous type of fan.
  23. It looked to me that he thought he hit it out. Not running hard out of the box. You would think that a guy who was just rescued from the scrap heap would show a little more hustle.
  24. Jhoan Duran can bring the heat. He was just blowing the fastball right by them. Lesson: Don't be trailing late .
