  1. To me, it's not complicated at all. Would Mookie have signed for 40 million per ? Because that is what they are paying for Story and Yoshida. The fact is, if they had signed Mookie and rejected Story and Yoshida , they would be a much better team today, the fans would be happier and they probably would have some money left over .
  2. But Henry apparently had no problem paying Story and Yoshida.
  3. Bloom traded Mookie. Bloom signed Story and Yoshida , and paid them 40 million a year. That is the reality. Dombrowski was successful. Bloom was a failure. That is the plain truth. All of the imaginary scenarios, spin, excuses and alternate realities notwithstanding.
  4. Apropos of nothing, Wendell " Send 'em in " Kim's father was a boxer, Phil " Wildcat" Kim . A welterweight contender back in the 50's. A tough Hawaiian, he fought some of the best of his time, including world champions Beau Jack, Virgil Akins and Carlos Ortiz. He lived up to his nickname and walked on the wild side. He met a sudden and violent demise.
  5. Especially if you can play the A's, Pirates and Angels.
  6. You can stick to your own narrative as long as you like. But Dombrowski , Sale and Bogaerts are not the issue. The simple fact is that the Sox are shelling out 40 million per for the " services" of Story and Yoshida.
  7. Only because of Mookie's contract being longer.
  8. The fact that Sox management could not find the money to pay Mookie, but found it for Story and Yoshida , says something about their poor judgement.
  9. The Sox are hanging around .500. Not a big surprise. I will say that the April schedule has been pretty favorable. The Orioles being the only really good team on it. Now it's the Pirates. Not a hard team to beat. Then Cleveland again, Cubs and Giants. All in all , not a tough April schedule, at least when it was drawn up. Maybe they should have a better record. But considering the injuries, .500 at this point is not too bad. Note: I have been trying ease the angst and improve the morale on here lately. Alas, to no avail.
  10. Everybody has their bad days. And I don't think he is still great. Like the proverbial old, gray mare, he ain't what he used to be. But he still has a pretty good percentage of success. Hang in there , Max.
  11. Billy Beane , the flim-flam man. Money Ball . Book deal. Movie deal. Piece of the ownership. Never won a championship. Now, leave a mess in Oakland and on to Vegas. A fake, phony fraud.
  12. Bloom will be remembered as the young genius who traded Mookie Betts. The question is: Did John Henry order him to do it ?
  13. Looks that way. Hopefully, they show some improvement.
  14. Ridiculous comparison. But S.O.P. for you. Jansen may or may not be washed up , but he was an All Star last season . Led the N.L. in saves in '22. Closing ain't easy. Blown saves happen, even to the best. Josh Hader has been getting roughed up plenty this season. On the other hand, even in his 70's, Burleson might be an improvement over the jabronis they have been running out there at short since Bogaerts left.
  15. Maybe they should let his interpreter hit.
  16. " That's baseball, Suzyn." The inimitable John Sterling. A true original.
  17. I might be mistaken, but I believe it's the Guardians who are in town tonight, not the Angels. Hope the Sox infielders have a Guardian Angel though.
  18. Right. For whatever reason , teams like to inflate the attendance numbers. But the no shows are not buying any beer, hot dogs or peanuts.
  19. The announced attendance is not always an accurate count of the actual number of fans at the game.
  20. Dismal performance, but at least there was no drama. ( Unlike yesterday) Much more relaxed today.
  21. You said you had to check into the hospital because your stomach was torn up from the stress. I remember that. I don't know if it was true, but I know you did post it. Anyway, I am done with this. It's not nearly as important to me as it seems to be to you. Go feud with someone else.
  22. Vegas, Father Time has a WHIP of 0.00. He catches up with all of us. Jansen is no exception.
  23. Moon, The " worried yourself sick "was in reference to the 2018 Series. I thought that was clear. And it was not my " quack" diagnosis. It was based on your posts , your own words , at the time. Anyway, I am not interested in participating in yet another of your never ending feuds. Have a nice night and feel free to put me unto ignore if you like. I won't be offended.
  24. Of course I watched the 2018 World Series. The Sox won it in five against a very good Dodger team. They would have swept in four if not for an uncharacteristic error by Ian Kinsler. Yes, there were a couple of tense moments, but I was relaxed and enjoyed it all. I never doubted that the Sox would win. You, on the other hand, sweated, fretted and worried yourself sick. You need to learn how to re!ax and enjoy the games. Don't get ulcers because Jansen allowed a couple of baserunners. P.S. You don't have to take my advice even though it is very good advice.
