  1. I will, however, miss Bader. His defense is fun to watch, and he proved last season that he could hit in the postseason. I'm guessing a contender will scoop him up and it could payoff bigly.
  2. He will be missed. Not by me, but surely by someone.
  3. Isn't this guy a reliever? There goes whatever was left of his career.
  4. Been a long time since I felt hopeless about a Yankee season. They just look like they're waiting for the season to be over. And this is AFTER they had a team meeting Saturday morning before then getting pasted for like a 6th straight game. Only way this season is still interesting is if they call up some of the kids (Pereira/Peraza/Wells/Florial/Beeter). Man what a s*** year for them.
  5. Cole should have like 16-18 wins this season, but a combination of inept offense and random bullpen meltdowns have hurt his record. Not that wins matter that much nowadays. But he probably feels like he needs to pitch a complete game shutout in order to have a chance at a W.
  6. The Fight for Fourth begins
  7. I dunno what it would take for Steinbrenner to replace them. I think Cashman is immune because he's basically part of their family. But Boone? Maybe if they finally finish under .500 he'll get the axe.
  8. The cherry on top is that him getting hurt insured that Severino and his 7 ERA gets to continue making regular starts.
  9. It was revealed that Rizzo has been playing with post concussion symptoms for the last 2 months (which explains why he has literally been the worst hitting player in baseball over that period). This is a new level of incompetence from the Yankees organization.
  10. Maybe this was the spark they needed!
  11. Still only like 4 games back. I don't know how they can get a spark to start winning again, but it's theoretically possible.
  12. He has been terrible at the plate this year and only average on defense, so I don't think it's a big loss. I'm actually glad Rorvedt will get a chance, and hopefully now Austin Wells can move up to AAA.
  13. There's still time to turn the season around. The pitching is fine overall (though the bullpen has been overworked and has shown signs of cracks recently). But relying on a bunch of past their prime hitters to suddenly start playing better is unlikely and has been producing miserable results. The fact that they're in this position where all it takes is one injury to Judge to derail the team is a testament to the poor roster construction, specifically on the offense. I'm kind of torn on rooting for them improve at the deadline or selling, since they do have the pitching to win in a postseason series but there are so many holes on the offense. If they keep on losing these winnable series against bad teams I think that should give them their deadline answer though.
  14. So you didn't like it??
  15. I'm reserving my judgment until they release details of what happened, but based on the length of the suspension I'm sure it is very bad..
  16. Funny comment I saw yesterday after it happened: "If only he could no-hit his wife"
  17. I think it's just because our FCL team is so good
  18. I personally prefer Bader to Montgomery, so I wouldn't. But who knows what Cashman thinks.
  19. I disagree on this one. In 2023 Montgomery has a 3.49 ERA, 1.29 WHIP, and 3.49 FIP. He was healthy with the Yanks in 2021 and half of 22, and in that time he had a 3.77 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, and 3.78 FIP. Also YS is more hitter friendly than Busch Stadium, so the difference between the two performances is pretty negligible.
  20. Lots of ex-Yankees having success this year. Gary Sanchez/James Paxton/Joey Gallo (still batting under .200 but back to HRing and walking)/Aroldis Chapman/Thairo Estrada/Sonny Gray/David Robertson. I know some players seem to thrive with certain teams for no apparent reason, but the number having success away from the Yankees is especially pronounced this year. Not a good look for our coaches/Cashman (though I'd say more on the hitting side, Matt Blake has actually had a positive effect overall).
  21. Age related decline was expected. Nobody expects them to return to peak form, but I don't think anybody would've expected all four of them to have their worst slumps simultaneously. Just the ebbs and flows of the seasons I guess. Having the top half of the lineup bat .112 for three weeks, and then counting on rookies/Quad A guys to pick up the slack is a recipe for one of the ugliest offensive stretches in baseball.
  22. Their lineup is flawed for sure, but to make matters even worse all of their secondary pieces in the lineup are slumping when they're needed the most. Stanton/DJL/Rizzo/Donaldson are all past their prime, but even in their current state they should be hitting better than they have this month. The four of them in June combined are hitting .112 . That's.... very not good.
  23. Pretty crazy stat. After taking 2 of 3 from the Dodgers, the Yankees now have a winning record against every active team in MLB over history.
  24. The top and bottom of the stroke zone are pretty subjective, no? All players are different heights, some have bigger torsos or longer legs, so in that regard I can understand umps with varying zones.
  25. Players seem to like him which I guess is good, but I don't think anyone on the team would outwardly say that he sucks. And yesterday was just luck. The better parts of the BP were burnt and he had no choice but to use those three. Weber in particular was lucky to only give up 1 run, with a couple of hard hit balls hit to the right spot.
