  1. Funny comment I saw yesterday after it happened: "If only he could no-hit his wife"
  2. I think it's just because our FCL team is so good
  3. I personally prefer Bader to Montgomery, so I wouldn't. But who knows what Cashman thinks.
  4. I disagree on this one. In 2023 Montgomery has a 3.49 ERA, 1.29 WHIP, and 3.49 FIP. He was healthy with the Yanks in 2021 and half of 22, and in that time he had a 3.77 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, and 3.78 FIP. Also YS is more hitter friendly than Busch Stadium, so the difference between the two performances is pretty negligible.
  5. Lots of ex-Yankees having success this year. Gary Sanchez/James Paxton/Joey Gallo (still batting under .200 but back to HRing and walking)/Aroldis Chapman/Thairo Estrada/Sonny Gray/David Robertson. I know some players seem to thrive with certain teams for no apparent reason, but the number having success away from the Yankees is especially pronounced this year. Not a good look for our coaches/Cashman (though I'd say more on the hitting side, Matt Blake has actually had a positive effect overall).
  6. Age related decline was expected. Nobody expects them to return to peak form, but I don't think anybody would've expected all four of them to have their worst slumps simultaneously. Just the ebbs and flows of the seasons I guess. Having the top half of the lineup bat .112 for three weeks, and then counting on rookies/Quad A guys to pick up the slack is a recipe for one of the ugliest offensive stretches in baseball.
  7. Their lineup is flawed for sure, but to make matters even worse all of their secondary pieces in the lineup are slumping when they're needed the most. Stanton/DJL/Rizzo/Donaldson are all past their prime, but even in their current state they should be hitting better than they have this month. The four of them in June combined are hitting .112 . That's.... very not good.
  8. Pretty crazy stat. After taking 2 of 3 from the Dodgers, the Yankees now have a winning record against every active team in MLB over history.
  9. The top and bottom of the stroke zone are pretty subjective, no? All players are different heights, some have bigger torsos or longer legs, so in that regard I can understand umps with varying zones.
  10. Players seem to like him which I guess is good, but I don't think anyone on the team would outwardly say that he sucks. And yesterday was just luck. The better parts of the BP were burnt and he had no choice but to use those three. Weber in particular was lucky to only give up 1 run, with a couple of hard hit balls hit to the right spot.
  11. German is just an idiot. This was the same umpire crew that warned him last time that he needed to wash off the excess rosin from his hands, so of course they would scrutinize him more. Not sure what it was on his hands but it left a brown stain on his uniform, so likely not rosin this time.
  12. Volpe has looked like a rookie quite often this season. But there's been a lot of improvement from when the season started until now, and he does have a 0.7 WAR currently (141st in MLB). Not great but not a liability either.
  13. Maybe spitballs will make a comeback as well.
  14. As bad as things are now it's still only one month of the season. And for as bad as things have looked its not like the team has totally cratered (.500 isn't good but considering the injuries not sure we could've expected a lot better). The division being so good makes it harder to cope with. I can't say I'm overly optimistic considering the lineups they've been trotting out there on a daily basis but I've learned from prior seasons that things generally aren't as good (Rays/O's) or bad as they seem in April.
  15. Everyone knows a lot of the guys on the team are injury prone, but to have this many top players injured within a month of the season is hard to believe. And thus we are forced to watch Aaron Hicks play everyday.
  16. I'll be honest, I haven't watched an inning of the Red Sox this season. I'm also trying to limit how much I watch the Yankees because watching every game is such a time drain.
  17. Looks like it might be back up to 1 1/2 after today though This 4th place battle is exciting
  18. I'm just saying that he went from being a bum to a core player in the matter of a week. What happens if he hits .100 this coming week?
  19. Duran is core-four now? Coulda sworn everyone wished they traded him while he still had prospect value.
  20. I think the 4th place thing is overblown, considering they're 13-10 (despite looking like dogshit in most games). Even though Boston is in last they still have a .500 record (they'd be 2nd in the Central!). The division has just been much better than all others out of the gate.
  21. It's only been 20- something games? But sure, if we were to prorate their records over a full season the Yankees would be 10 games ahead of Boston.
  22. The offense is definitely not in good shape when we have Calhoun/Franchy batting in the middle of the order. Stanton won't be back until June or later, and Bader/Donaldson coming back isn't going to add much to the lineup. I think the Yanks are just going to have to win a lot of games with pitching.
  23. They should bring back their old logo of that elephant standing on a ball, that would fit with Vegas since they have those kind of circus acts.
  24. Stanton to the IL again because he had to run out a double. Maybe he'll be back and locked in at the plate again by the ASB
