  1. It's cool to see random teams like Texas and Arizona make the World Series, but it also makes that grueling 162 game season kinda pointless if a team can slip in with 84 wins and win it all. Heck the Yanks had 82 wins this season, who knows what they could've done in the postseason! (Probably score 1 total run in 2 games)
  2. f*** the Asteroids
  3. I guess ownership felt that 2023 was not a rebuild year?
  4. Meaningless September baseball is the worst
  5. Jesus Montero also looked this good to start his career. I've learned to wait until they play their first full season before declaring someone a star. But definitely a promising start for him.
  6. Agreed on needing to fill multiple positions. Was only talking about Rizzo though. I think he can OPS .770+ because he surpassed it last year, and also this year until he got concussed. The reduction of shifts has helped him, and he also still plays good defense (when playing healthy).
  7. Before the game where he got concussed by Tatis he was hitting .303/.376/.507 with 11 HRs and 31 RBIs over 52 games. After that game he hit .176 with only one HR until hitting the IL in early August. I don't think he's a .300 hitter anymore even without the concussion, but I don't think it's a stretch to say he's average or above average when his brain isn't damaged.
  8. I'd say Volpe has netted out to being average this year, maybe slightly better than average factoring in defense. It's impossible to predict how he will play next year but based on his age I think he'll be at least the same as 2nd half of this season or better. And yeah it's hard to imagine the offense being good next season unless they sign/trade for multiple players (LF/CF/C/3B) or one of the youngsters steps up.
  9. By solid I assume you mean league average or better. Aside from who you highlighted in red, I'd include Volpe/Rizzo(hopefully he'll be over his concussion symptoms by next year)/Cortes/Schmidt (has improved a lot since the start of the season) and all five of the bullpen arms you listed.
  10. Started off very slow but has been steadily improving. He has a 107 OPS+ since June 1st which isn't amazing but still good for a rookie. And thanks to his defense he's at 3.6 WAR for the season. Now we just need 6 more players to fill out our lineup.
  11. I will, however, miss Bader. His defense is fun to watch, and he proved last season that he could hit in the postseason. I'm guessing a contender will scoop him up and it could payoff bigly.
  12. He will be missed. Not by me, but surely by someone.
  13. Isn't this guy a reliever? There goes whatever was left of his career.
  14. Been a long time since I felt hopeless about a Yankee season. They just look like they're waiting for the season to be over. And this is AFTER they had a team meeting Saturday morning before then getting pasted for like a 6th straight game. Only way this season is still interesting is if they call up some of the kids (Pereira/Peraza/Wells/Florial/Beeter). Man what a s*** year for them.
  15. Cole should have like 16-18 wins this season, but a combination of inept offense and random bullpen meltdowns have hurt his record. Not that wins matter that much nowadays. But he probably feels like he needs to pitch a complete game shutout in order to have a chance at a W.
  16. The Fight for Fourth begins
  17. I dunno what it would take for Steinbrenner to replace them. I think Cashman is immune because he's basically part of their family. But Boone? Maybe if they finally finish under .500 he'll get the axe.
  18. The cherry on top is that him getting hurt insured that Severino and his 7 ERA gets to continue making regular starts.
  19. It was revealed that Rizzo has been playing with post concussion symptoms for the last 2 months (which explains why he has literally been the worst hitting player in baseball over that period). This is a new level of incompetence from the Yankees organization.
  20. Maybe this was the spark they needed!
  21. Still only like 4 games back. I don't know how they can get a spark to start winning again, but it's theoretically possible.
  22. He has been terrible at the plate this year and only average on defense, so I don't think it's a big loss. I'm actually glad Rorvedt will get a chance, and hopefully now Austin Wells can move up to AAA.
  23. There's still time to turn the season around. The pitching is fine overall (though the bullpen has been overworked and has shown signs of cracks recently). But relying on a bunch of past their prime hitters to suddenly start playing better is unlikely and has been producing miserable results. The fact that they're in this position where all it takes is one injury to Judge to derail the team is a testament to the poor roster construction, specifically on the offense. I'm kind of torn on rooting for them improve at the deadline or selling, since they do have the pitching to win in a postseason series but there are so many holes on the offense. If they keep on losing these winnable series against bad teams I think that should give them their deadline answer though.
  24. So you didn't like it??
  25. I'm reserving my judgment until they release details of what happened, but based on the length of the suspension I'm sure it is very bad..
