  1. I know Wicked Monk. They moved from their old location to over by the Verrazano Bridge. It's become a cop bar now. Haven't been there in several years but I'm pretty sure it's still around.
  2. Yep I went to Xaverian too (graduated about 20 years ago). My parents still live in Bay Ridge but I'm living out in Queens now. I do remember Chadwick's but not that other place, must be before my time.
  3. Bay Ridge
  4. Some fun facts about the losing streak; - The 30 inning scoreless streak was the 5th longest in Yankees history - During the scoreless streak the Yankees only had a man reach 3rd base in 2 of those innings (both during extra innings) - During the last 7 days before last night's win, 9 of their 10 regulars in the lineup had a wRC+ under 60 (100 is league average), and 5 out of those 9 had negative wRC+
  5. Defense didn't help last night, but with the way the offense is playing there's no margin for error. Yanks pitching/ defense has given up 2.67 runs per game the last 6 games (and no more than 4 runs in any game). So to lose every single one of those games is strictly on the offense.
  6. I don't think I've ever witnessed the Yankees get shutout three straight games in my lifetime until today. 29 straight scoreless innings is pretty rare. At this point if they're gonna keep losing they might as well do it in record fashion.
  7. Maybe I'm missing something, but Devers is still a top 10 hitter in MLB. Not sure how losing your best hitter improves hitting. And there's no guarantee any of the young players ever reach Devers' level. Time will tell if this is a good move. But if the youngsters don't develop as planned then this might be another Mookie situation.
  8. I think it's more taxing on fans' morale than on players. They fought back against the Sox ace to get to extras. And then of course the top of the inning had some questionable calls that all went in one direction, so they'll probably be more frustrated about that than anything else.
  9. He did pinch hit for Anthony against a lefty just the other day (IIRC). But maybe it was a late game situation.
  10. Yanks starting three lefties this series. Does that mean Cora will be sitting Anthony and Mayer all three games?
  11. I won't ever make a statement of 'No way is X a steroid user' because who the hell really knows, and I wouldn't want to be made a fool of kind of like Aaron Rodgers was when he backed Ryan Braun.
  12. For this exercise I think he does. He was using PEDs when there was prevalent use, so his OPS lead is relative to all other roid users at the time (though I don't feel like Helton was a steroid user).
  13. In 2004 Bonds had a 1.421 OPS. The next closest hitter was Todd Helton with a 1.089 OPS, so Bonds had a .332 OPS lead.
  14. Lousy series for Yankees pitching. Gave up 27 total runs (11% of their season total). The fact that it was against Boston is irritating, but ultimately it's just one series. June schedule looks relatively soft with 10 home games vs Angels/O's/A's, and 9 road games against KC/Boston/Reds. The Boone June Swoon has been a thing in prior years but hopefully this schedule prevents it from repeating.
  15. One thing I always wished they'd come up with is an option to mute the announcers but not the sounds of the game.
  16. If they lose hopefully it's an early blow out, that way I avoid about six innings of s***** commentary
  17. Pythagorean record also agrees and shows their record should be 34-31. Which would still have them 4th in the division though.
  18. He doesn't throw hard but all of his pitches move a lot. If he locates he's pretty tough to hit, as evidenced by his 11.9 Ks per 9 innings (for comparison, Crochet has 11.1 Ks per 9 innings).
  19. Yikes. Coming into the season I thought the Red Sox starting pitching would be a strength. Admittedly I haven't followed them too closely, so what's caused them to be this bad?
  20. Yanks offense has been in a funk this week, and Buehler owned them in the World Series last season. So it only makes sense that the Yanks will drop 8 runs on him in the first inning.
  21. This afternoon the Braves entered the 9th inning up 10-4 and ended up losing 11-10. They hadn't blown a lead that big in the 9th inning since 1973. Braves just seem destined to suck this year.
