  1. He throws just hard enough to get hit HARD. That's always been my opinion of him.
  2. All true, but I haven't trusted him since his rookie year in big situations. All I remember is last year's playoffs and what happened pitching for USA.
  3. I mean Whitlock didn't help himself by giving up a hit and two walks. But this is typical than 3 up 3 down to me when it comes to Whitlock. He'll be the second coming of Matt Barnes in due time.
  4. So sick of talking about injury prone pitchers. One thing we're good at...starting a MASH unit.
  5. Xander has 7 years left at $25M AFTER 2026 season. Ugh.
  6. Impressed that Gray went 6 innings with NO WALKS. Pretty much the stat I look at for pitchers anymore.
  7. I'm with you.....I don't care if he hits .300. His at bats takes away from Anthony, Rafaela, Abreu or Duran. That is the bottom line. What the hell does Bres do if Yoshida is playing well? Trade who? Why didn't he trade that individual last winter? Anthony, Rafaela, Abreu and Duran SUPPOSEDLY are our future. Yoshida has no power, He is very unathletic, too slow to run down balls. I am so sick of our management. Bres has no idea how to build a team. He is not focused. Quit worrying about Yoshida's contract. It's a sunken cost. Evaluate him as a player. He just doesn't measure up. Trade him for couple TBD's. Addition by subtraction is what I see.
  8. Moon, Whitlock gave up a hit, walked two, threw 37 pitches. I don't care what the stats say, he is not elite.
  9. True......I feel as though Breslow is always going for the inside straight on the river and the board shows a possible full house.
  10. This will be the first year I won't subscribe to MLB.TV. You can all make fun of me but it's more about how to spend my 3 hours of free time. Money is secondary.
  11. Couple of thoughts...... We had entire winter to fix our outfield situation and did not. It wasn't just that we had Duran, Rafael, Abreu and Anthony for three spots but their 'other' position, "DH, was going to be shared with Yoshida. Duran I believed played in 170 games couple of years ago. He missed two due to suspension? I think he's the type that has to keep playing to play well. Now not only is he not available to DH because Yoshida needs his at bats, he has to sit because you only have 4 positions for 5 players. Breslow again sold us on untried Oviedo. Just frekin' take the sure thing. YOU HAVE TO GIVE TO GET. What are you, some wall street fraudster? By retaining all four outfielders, individually, their market is declining. If I bought this team today, I'd fire everyone on the staff and start over. Get rid of Yoshida. Not because I hate the guy, he simply adds problems to the whole puzzle.
  12. Well I was at the game. Just curious about Early. I know he did not give up any runs but I thought he struggled with location of his pitches. Don’t get me started on Weissert. He nibbled on the FH and walks him. I hate our guys that can’t throw strikes. As far as I’m concerned Whitlock is no better. The team sucks. They are not fun to watch. Both Story and Yoshida needs to be gone. Looking forward to 2028 season.
  13. Here's the ultimate question. Historically, do the right handed hitters have a better split than the left handed hitters? So Yaz was .692 (?) vs left handed pitchers? So Cora would have platooned him?
  14. Cora will need to manage Whitlock's work load. Despite reports of being in a 'pitching shape', he continues to disappoint. He still lacks put away pitch. Afraid to pitch to the leadoff hitter, expending who knows how many pitches. Then throws a lazy changeup over the middle of the plate for a winning hit. I hope we come up with a better 8th inning solution. Definitely not a closer. Will he be ever the guy remembered as having his best season his rookie year as a Rule 5 guy?
  15. Mayer out with left knee soreness. Will be back in the lineup Tuesday. Geeze....23 years old and body is imploding. Lets not extend this guy. One play away from being on IL.
  16. But Crawford was slowed by the flu ...... I'm speechless. Luckily Crochet takes good care of his body.
  17. If I'm the owner, I'd tell everyone except for Bres to shut up about the off season. Of course it was Bres that said something to the effect, successful playoff teams all had power bats and maybe we needed some. I don't ever want to hear from Kennedy.
  18. Moon, I'm done with 'hoping' for Big Bats or 2nd Ace type of free agent signings. Just trust Brez and Company to keep developing young talent so we have some trade chips to upgrade the team. We ain't never signing Schwarber type.
  19. I will have to go with Kimmi's approach this year. The goal simply is to get into the playoffs. We'll then roll the dice and hope our starting pitching will get us to the World Series.
  20. We can use some humor from time to time. I deal with female athletes. They hate me using the word BIG.
  21. Oviedo is the biggest member of a big family. “My dad is like 6-2, something like that. My mom is huge,” he said. “I feel like I kind of got that from her. She’s like 5-11 I think but she’s like big and wide and huge legs. She’s a monster of (a) woman.” I love it but not sure about his mom. "Son, really? I'm BIG AND WIDE AND HAVE HUGE LEGS?" lol
  22. Not sure where to put this. I saw where MLB had rankings of relievers (late inning guys?). Chapman was #1 and Whitlock #6. I want to see Whitlock as a 1 inning guy from get go this year, pitching either 8th or 9th inning. Going two hurts him in the long run. I thought he ran out of gas last year. Case in point? His last outing. Sometimes he's unable to put guys away and that leads to running up pitch count, especially doing two inning stints. Find a guy to pitch the 7th. Use Kutter as the bulk guy to start out the season.
  23. I would like to know if Sandoval and Kutter are ready to go from day 1?
  24. We're only about $2M above the second luxury tax threshold. I think we'll move someone, Sandoval maybe to get under it.
