  1. Cora loves to micro manage, he loves platooning. Look at the Phillies. 8 out of 9 positions are pretty much full time. (I'm not counting catching because everyone has two catchers). Only position its shared is CF. With our lineup we never know who is going to step forward. I hate it.
  2. That was his last year.....we could've managed. You don't give up a chance to sign a premium player. Hell, we're paying Yoshida $18M for 5 years and he's a part time DH. Lets' see how much we're willing to pay, cash and players for next Crochet. Maybe our ownership group has gained much knowledge. I would love to sign him as our next DH. We just got rid of $30M DH that had contract through 2033. That's 8 more years. Why not give Schwarber another 4 year deal?
  3. Our biggest mistake was not going after Kyle Schwarber. 46, 47, 38 and 32 homers for mere 4 Year $79M. Ultimately, you need a power bat in the lineup.
  4. Bases loaded, no out and the pitcher struggling......we're going to blame the loss on catcher's interference call? Sure let's not mention we have now scored 3 runs in 3 losing games after the break. Boston sports pages are pathetic.
  5. I would pull the Tamp Rays and let Tolle come up and start a game. He's averaging close to 1.5 K's per inning. In 18 innings at Portland, 4 BB's and 27 K's, .164 BA, ..522 OPS Sale and Crochet never pitched in AAA. Bring him up and let him start a game.....what are we afraid of? Do we have to go through another mental midget iteration on this board? He will be damaged good if he bombs in his first outing?
  6. Thank you.......You can't have a black hole in the lineup wild chasing a playoff spot.....we're not 20 games over .500 and coasting.
  7. In my best John Malkovich, teddy KGB accent, "Pay that man his money" Extend Bregman.
  8. So why not just play Abreu all the time? Same with Mayer? They are the future of Red Sox.
  9. No way we're trading Abreu. This team needs power, He leads the team with 18 HR. Devers has 17 HR. 98 more at bats for Devers.
  10. Are we a platoon team or NOT. Should I not pinch hit for Yoshida with say Refsnyder? Or is it too early for that?
  11. Pray for Rays' loss....we'll still be up 1/2 game but everyone else is creeping up....
  12. If I'm the owner this is what I would be demanding. Any minor league positional player is tradeable. I would tell Bres to keep all the potential starting, Peyton Tolle being at the top of the list. Our window of opportunity is pretty well taken care of at position players. We have Narvaez, Campbell, Rafaela, Mayer, Anthony, Abreu and Duran for few more years. I loved what we've done the last two drafts, focusing on college pitching. The development of young pitchers should be where our focus should be. International draft can focus on positional players. Getting a bona fide starting pitcher and bullpen arms will go long ways improving our prospects for getting into the playoffs. A power hitting 1B wouldn't hurt either.
  13. I won't say another word about Yoshida playing left field BUT I thought Cora said the idea of playing Rafaela at 2B was so that we can play our three left handed hitting amigos in the outfield, Anthony, Duran and Abreu.
  14. Plain STUPID when you have Anthony at DH. Freakin' Stupid. My grandson can come up with a better lineup card. You guys think this is our best lineup with this 9?
  15. “You’ve got to trust your players,” Cora explained. “He’s playing today for a reason. I felt like it was a good matchup — lefty against him. And it just didn’t work out."Wong went 0-for-3, dropping his slash line to .144/.228/.144/.372 in 36 games (101 plate appearances).Cora said he doesn’t have the answer for why Wong has struggled so much this season. What a lazy manager. Hey Brez, how hard is to acquire a catcher that can beat OPS of .372? Why don't you fix the easy part before dreaming pipe dreams?
  16. But, but, but, he works HARD. I mean really HARD, Mr. Wong that is....
  17. We need a Opener....too many of our starters struggle in the 1st inning.
  18. Pretty even game, both teams with 6 hits and 4 walks. Of course there was that 3 run homer. When you start the game by extending 3-2 counts to first two hitters, as the next batter, I would guess that I would look for a fastball. That's exactly what the hitter got and he crushed it. All because of 2 walks with 2 strikes. That was the ball game. We didn't hit any homers. I don't care what anyone here says, Anthony needs to learn to lift the ball. Hell he'd hit 40+ homers.
  19. Friday games are usually in afternoons. I believe that was the agreement with the city.
  20. "Devers, a former standout with the Red Sox, is currently dealing with a disk issue in his lower back, as announced by Giants manager Bob Melvin. He has managed to stay in the lineup, taking the designated hitter spot during Saturday’s thrilling 8-7 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers." I am glad he is gone but I don't wish anyone injury. I have always wondered if his violent swing that required flexibility over time may come back to haunt him. I just feel we dodged a bullet with Devers from many perspectives.
  21. "Breakout star Carlos Narváez has already started 67 games this year. That’s a lot for a catcher who has never experienced such a heavy workload. There are small signs that wear and tear has taken a toll, like Cora’s desire to work Connor Wong in more and the fact Narváez has only hit .235 with a .657 OPS in an 18-game stretch dating back to June 16. On paper, Wong should be the type of backup any team wants: someone who used to start, is still young, has improved defensively and can provide some pop when he does play. But in a much-different role (27 starts), Wong has hit .149 with a single RBI and zero extra-base hits. He has a .384 OPS in 98 plate appearances and is 5-for-36 since June 1. Wong would likely be hitting better if he was an everyday player in a routine and he might break out again if he gets traded and gets that opportunity. For now, though, he represents an offensive black hole when he plays and a contending team may want to upgrade. One name to watch? Old friend Christian Vázquez, who is also not hitting (.170 average, .492 OPS) but has some intangibles the Red Sox like. The Twins would probably trade him in a salary dump." But, but but but but, he works HARD. Apparently Narvaez doesn't. I bet Buehler works hard too, As does Houck. Hey, trophy for everyone.
  22. So a hard worker makes him entitle to be on the roster? Do you hear yourself? We tell our kids working hard is mandatory. That doesn't mean they get to play. There you have it. Wong is a hard worker. A really really hard worker. No one, I mean no one works harder.
  23. Ever think maybe the Cubs would be 5 games up on best teams if they did something about their deficiency? I would do something about a player who is 0-28 with runners in scoring position. And if you think that has nothing do with our record is simply asinine. Good luck when we finish 1 game out of the playoffs. Aren't we the team of superior analytics? Hell I'm just a little high school coach. I break down every minute of game films. Looking for that 2% edge. I have a staff of 5 and the Sox won't even bother to look for alternatives? "Oh Well".... I bet the Rays don't take that casual attitude. $5M means everything to them. We piss that away like its nothing.
  24. How many more games could we have won just with couple of hits with runners in scoring position? To simply dismiss him as a oh well he's just a back up catcher is awful. You would never manage anything for me. You're only good as your 26th man. How come many of us have the time to think about Wong but no one in the Sox organization don't as you are implying? That makes no sense.
